gordons-8999816 April 2019
This film documents the growing soil depletion crisis in the American Midwest brought about by the bottom-line economics of Big Agriculture and what can be done about it by productive farming practices that are dedicated to stewardship of the land.

True Depiction of Farm Life
rrainey-2223315 April 2019
The beautiful story provides a glimpse into the complex issues that U.S. farmers and ranchers face everyday. It details the human and business management struggles (.... what crops to invest, the production systems, hiring employees, transition & estate planning) through the lens of a Midwestern farm family over multiple generations.. Powerful and enlightening!

Important historical record as well as the future of agriculture

This film tells the story of one of the pioneers of organic farming before the nation even understood why farming and eating organic was important. A touching tale of family, love and loss as well. Not just about days gone by, this documentary subject becomes even more relevant today. The filmmaker does a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of the midwest keeping the viewer engaged through an original soundtrack, humor and her own unique touch.

Touching and timely

This was beautifully filmed, informative, and also touching. It educates while also telling the personal story of the Vetter family, which is a powerful combination.

As entertaining as it is important.

I have followed this filmmaker for years. And was already impressed by her substantial talents, as a writer, editor, photographer and story teller. In this documentary she brings all those skills together into one engrossing, relevant and important documentary. Highly recommended. Now I am dreaming of a Vetter world.

Wonderful, relevant film.

What a pleasure. If everyone watched this movie the world would be a better place. Not only does the film move the viewer as a very human story about generations of one family working hard for outcomes that are more morally than financially profitable, it is also a movie with a terribly important message about the ways in which the American priority of profit first do real harm to us, our land, our food, and even our souls. The extraordinary charm of David Vetter (and the people he's worked with over the years on the project of healing his farm's soil) is informed by what really seems like a purity of heart. Perhaps good people do good things. This is someone real to admire. Watch the movie.
