Heartbreaking and brutally funny

The scene with Jared and his family was heartbreaking yet hysterical. Poor Jared, he's the best underdog in tv history.

Both funny & sad, Silicon Valley's latest season continues to impress!

Warning: Spoilers
This is another really good SV episode. Not on par with the shows peak around S2-3/4, but still. The most interesting aspect of this episode was Jareds story and how his parents are so unloving of him. It's genuinely heartbreaking as they talk to him and reveal all their different other children. Arguably the shows darkest scene up to date. As for other subplots Monica & Laurie share some scenes together but the whole thing is pretty forgettable. Gilfoyle and legendary Hooli employee John share some really funny moments together, and I'm wondering why it took 6 seasons to actually have these characters together in such a scene. Another funny side plot is Gavin Belson trying to write his own book and then yet again being sucked into the world of tech once again. The main plot is also quite funny with Richard undergoing a trip for "Alphaness" which actually works out for him. Dinesh is occasionally sidelined but he still has 1/2 cool lines. The ending hopefully promises the same old dynamic we've come to expect from SV as we're slowly heading into the endgame!

This was such a great show but now it has become so boring and unfunny. This episode was the worst so far..

Why stop now??

This show has had his great seasons and some that were less great. However, it was always nothing less than relevant, modern and above all, super fun. I feel that this is their best season yet. I don't know is it maybe because they got canceled and everybody just loosened up or something., but with this last season's character development, I believe that the show could offer a lot more than these 3 final episodes. Hopefully I'm right and they renew it for a few more seasons :)

Compare this to any earlier season and the quality drop is apparent

Warning: Spoilers
I will be the last to admit the last few seasons have increasingly gotten somewhat lackluster especially in its finale's compared to the first 2 seasons. Yet I would argue at least sprinkled throughout season 4 & 5 there were some surprise hitters that struck me as almost hysterical like Dinesh with the underage users or Jareds increased manic rants or weird one note comments about his past that were both dark but oddly funny.

This episode is a perfect example of how this last season they clearly were not using the same writing talents or taking as much time to hone the story or jokes of any kind. This episode had possibly the least amount of actual humor in the entire series, it reuses old jokes which were at best ok when first used like seeing someones reflection in the clean plate referencing waaay to many bad horror movies. All this to say I just all around did not like the writing efforts foe this season or especially these brand new guest directors who have clearly no charisma in direction style or fresh to add since even the last few seconds with jared & his once apprentice/stalker victim now as creepy if not creepier than jared ever was but they just stare at each other with the same confused look I had on my face wondering, how was any of the last near 30 min funny or informative of anything. When I tried watching the next episode a day later I was literally lost and confused as to even where the story was last left off and I had just seen the episode less than 24 hours before! Which case in point, the transition is non existent or borderline a complete disaster. From the new south american pablo escobar dude who is really less threatening than they made him out to sound early on to these kinda depressing & almost humorless episodes with inexperienced directors. This is a perfect example when comparing earlier episodes of Silicon Valley to later ones in the series of how far down the hooli app list a show of once great caliber can go. RIP Pied Piper and Bachmanity. Parts of you will be missed.
