Pictures such as DANCES WITH WOLVES and . . .
. . . Peabody's Improbable History: SITTING BULL bring a fresh approach to appreciating all the fine nuances of America's story. In 2024, when KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON has been nominated for the "Best Picture" prize for its retelling of an important U. S. saga, it's worth looking back to 1960's SITTING BULL during any discussion of whether and how depictions of the periodic conflict between Bering Straits land bridge immigrants to the Americas and more recent ship-borne newcomers have become more accurate and/or balanced. It's important to note that Marion Mitchell Duke-the-Family-Mutt Morrison does NOT appear in either SITTING BULL or THEY DIED WITH THEIR BOOTS ON. Nor it the title character of the former flick connected in any way to THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS. However, it is quite savvy in anticipating this segment of our population's transition to the hospitality sector.
