Oddly, like the first episode of the series, this one really has a lot less to say about the Medicis than you'd expect. While things that happened to the family are mentioned briefly, so much is ignored. Catherine Medici, a blood-thirsty beast who was responsible for the massacre of the Hugenots in France wasn't mentioned--even though she was mentioned in the last episode. The later Medici rulers weren't mentioned either. What's with this episode?! Topics discussed included the coining of the term 'Renaissance' by one of the Medici in order to publicize their achievements in promoting the arts, the Counter-Reformation and the creation of the Inquisition, the work and persecution of Galileo as well as the creation of the office of Grand Duke of Tuscany for the Medicis. Achievements, infamous deeds and the like of the family really aren't discussed.
I think the final episode would have been best described as a documentary about Galileo, not the Medici family.
