"A new way to go..."

Warning: Spoilers
This was awesome. I loved every moment of it. It brought many things to the series I didn't see coming and some elements I kind of maybe sort of predicted would happen happened. The guard grew up and it's great to see a progression of these characters as we've watched them all these years and seeing that they actually did age. Also, Janja is now reformed and it was just as glorious a reformation as I expected, especially thanks to the graceful vocal talents of Andrew Kishino as Janja, who's confused nature and awkward demeanor made for probably my favorite appearance of Janja in the entire series Also, Jasiri and him had really good chemistry in all the scenes that they were in together, especially involving the whole Sisi Ne Sawa thing. Scar's final moments in this special were quite intriguing and we got to see a bit of backstory and how he got his scar and of course the same method used to give him a scar was also employed to Kion who now has to learn to control his anger and must fight the rest of the season probably to ensure he is capable of handling his roar lest his friends be put at risk. Also, the rest of the Pride Landers as well as the Outlanders get to see some developments as well - they've grown like the guard, not so much in their appearance but in their ability to unify with each other which is great to see. The musical numbers here are also some of Beau Black's best work, not much to say about that. Really, that's all I've got on my feelings toward this special. It delivered everything I was hoping to see from this series with a few unexpected surprises here and there. I really said all I have to say. Go see it, and as always, till the Pride Lands End, Lion Guard defend!

BEST SPECIAL EPISODE I'VE WATCHED IN A LONG TIME
ibram-2328310 January 2020
This is one of the best specials I've watched in a long time. Everything about it is perfect for me. It's story, writing, soundtrack etc. They could have done better with the action scenes but in the end it was worth it. Trust me this will immediately be your favorite episode in the series

An unexpected Dark turn....brings out the best!
reddragonhero175 August 2019
Lion Guard fans have waited a long time for this special, and it did not disappoint! We've all had our guards down for something very special with unexpected results. This is without a doubt the darkest, not to mention most violent episode of the series on level with the tone of the original film we know and love. Two characters scarred and one perishes, I won't reveal whom, but thankfully it's not graphic, just done with the same kind of Disney restraint, though without lessening the impact. It's a big battle for sure with some unexpected surprises, even one of Kion's closest allies becomes known to Simba as well! The songs are great except one, "How I got my Scar", which feels scratchy and forgettable, though at least we know about Scar's backstory. My favorite is "On the Last Night" where the whole guard sings. The actors and characters grow up before our eyes. Yet one story ends, another begins, how will the new one end? That's what we'll find out sooner or later. All in all, of the episodes of this series, this one is the best paws down. It doesn't get any better than this.

Finally, something we all have been expecting from Disney.

Warning: Spoilers
Other than abusing Sisi Ni Sawa, this episode is worth the quality we all have been waiting after two long years of cringing over season 2. This episode is finally up to standard, and is even comparable to The Lion King 1994 original. Of course, the end may have been pulled a bit too long, but a short yet perfect conclusion covers it all; the songs come just right in the moment, the reveal come just unexpectedly, the changes impactful yet sustainable, the animation impressive and the use of colours superb. Something we've been waiting for, and something worth watching. We did it guys; this show is finally epic.

I would recommend this episode to anyone who is a Christian. This episode can help someone feel closer to God. Especially with the song On the last Night. 🙂

Kinda impressive given how poor the last one is
r96sk21 June 2020
'The Lion Guard: Battle for the Pride Lands' manages to regain footing with the original 'The Lion Guard' film, which is kinda impressive given how poor the last one is.

It's still nothing all that good, but given what it is it's an alright film. The plot is much more interesting, as we also get some backstory for 'The Lion King' villain Scar. The ending does set-up the television episodes too much, though.

Elsewhere, the cast are all fine if unnoteworthy. The animation remains satisfactory, while the songs are marginally improved. I was expecting this to be on the same negative level as 'The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar', but it actually surpassed it fairly comfortable.

These are, obviously, low quality films in the grand scheme of things. However, you can't argue they serve a purpose. I'd only say Disney should've targeted families as opposed to just the younger audience.
