GIRLFRIEND REVIEW :
Girlfriend" is the word hits the right to every single boy around. What if someone makes a film on universal topic of Girlfriend and dedicates it to the all Single Unhappy Souls around the globe? Sounds interesting, no? Yes it does. Writer, Screenwriter and Director Upendra Sidhaye takes this interesting job in hands through a Film called "Girlfriend" starring Popular names from Marathi Industry and he manages to succed in enough amount. The amount remains decent which should have been more actually.
Girlfriend is story of Nachiket aka Nachya (Amey Wagh) who is Single since forever and now in handsome age he feels awkward, frustrated about being the same. The frustration is created because of people around him who always want him to have a Girlfriend. Finally he gets one, Alisha aka Payal (Saie Tamhankar) but does he have it really or is he faking? Find the Virtual Reality of Nachya's Girlfriend in the film. Amey Wagh as Nachya creates a perfect Single, Hungry, unsatisfied soul and a so called Good Boy on screen. Saie Tamhankar gets to portay a Bindass Attitude girl on screen after couple of years, but she is Cute and kind as well. Amey and Saie sails the Ship of Girlfriend, both derives the screen for most of time whereas other cast names like Rasika Sunil, Isha Keskar, Suyog Gorhe, Uday Nene, Kavita Lad, Yatin Karyekar, Sagar Deshmukh are fine in thier limited screenspace. Writing wise Girlfriend has a Simple, Ordinary story to enjoy and the screenplay in First Half builds a high tower of expectations but collapses in the 2nd half. The scene of Saie Tamhankar's Entry just before Interval pumps up the heartbeat and leaves you with so much anticipation which is not retained by the Typical Lovestory drama and Lose Climax in the 2nd half. Musically Girlfriend has got Very Good Situational songs and that helps the screenplay to get going.
Director Upendra Sidhaye looks Promising in his First Film, he gets some things right and he gets some of them wrong but surely he will learn from it and definitely improvise next time. Overall, Girlfriend is a Sweet, Simple, Organic ride for all the Single people. It would have worked more if it had focused only on entertainment and not on depressive mindset of its limited audience. With High Production Value, Girlfriend Team presents an Average Product but it is definitely one time watchable.
