- In the Season Three premiere, Bill pitches a Mormon-friendly casino, with help from Margene. Meanwhile, a block party becomes the battleground for Bill to defend the family against gossip, and for Nicki to defend her life as Roman Grant's daughter.—Anonymous
- As we meet back up with the Henricksons, life seems back to business as usual. Everyone is gathered in the kitchen, while Margene feeds the kids and Barb is cleaning up. Bill plays with Nell, Margene's new baby, now a few months old, then passes her off to Margene as he heads out to work. Nicki comes in, dressed in normal clothes, for her first day at work as a temp. Barb tells her how proud she is but Nicki says she's trying to be responsible so she can pay off her debt. As Nicki heads out, she notices that Barb seems a bit distracted and asks her if everything is okay. Barb waves her off and tells her she needs to run some errands.
But then we cut to Barb at the hospital getting an MRI. Uh oh.
Bill listens to a motivational tape in his car as he heads to work. He chants "I am a magnet to money. The phone rings and it's Don. He's worried about their budgets and suggests some write-off. For the first time ever, Home Plus is in the red. Looks like the tough economy is affecting them, too. But they have a plan. They are meeting with Jerry Flute, a businessman from an Indian reservation just over the state line in Idaho. Bill and Don are trying to persuade him to partner to open a Mormon-friendly casino on their reservation instead of working with the guys from Vegas. No smoking, no drinking, a place to bring the kids. Jerry is a bit intrigued but is more interested in whoever can make him the most money. Plus, Bill has no experience running a casino. He says thanks but no thanks, but Bill pleads with him to give them another chance over dinner with he and Margene.
Roman Grant is locked up at a maximum security prison, meeting with his lawyers and with Adaleen from behind glass. Over the security phone, he's upset and insists that the charges again him are false, but then the lawyer tells him that four Jane Does have agreed to testify against him. Roman demands to know their identities but they haven't been released. The other lawyer gets on the phone and tells him that the prosecutors are offering a deal of a lesser term, if Roman agrees to rape. Roman is furious, "Don't ever use the vile term with me again!" But that's the word he's up against. Finally, Adaleen gets on the phone and tries to convince Roman to take the lawyers' advice. She also tells Roman that Alby has moved into the big house and has done a clean sweep of the office. Roman vows to crush him.
Meanwhile, Bill is over at Ana's house, helping to fix a leak in her sink. She plants a kiss on him but Bill insists he has to get back to work. She tries to get him to stay and make love, but he explains they can't unless they get married first. She wants to just have sex but he says "no ring, no love."
Back at the house, Barb gets a call from her doctor. Her test results are back and they want to do a biopsy. It's been seven years since her hysterectomy, so they just want to be safe. He tells Barb not to worry. There's a knock at the door. It's Carl and Pam, the nosy neighbors.
Everyone else is in the kitchen. Margene is listening to a language instruction tape and the kids are watching an old movie where there's a baby with a pig snout. Bill playfully says to Nicki, who's going to give us another piggy. Are you going to give us another piggy? Nicki is not enthused. Bill notices Barb talking to Carl and Pam and heads into to see what's up. They were checking to see if the Henricksons planned on coming to the Block Party. Apparently the other neighbors have been asking, and someone volunteered to replace Bill as the hot dog man. Pam swears she hasn't told anyone their secret and shows them the new neighborhood map, given to all the church members. The Henricksons' are listed as inactive and Nicki is grayed out.
Of course, Nicki is outraged. At dinner, she blames Barb for exposing them to the neighbors, but Barb strikes back and says that Nicki draws attention to herself by the way she dresses. She barks back, "I dress virtuously. Do you want me to dress like Margene?" That sets everyone off. Bill suggests that they skip the block party this year.
Later that night, Nicki and Bill are in bed watching a news report about the crackdown on polygamy. Another compound leader with the same charges Roman was given a life sentence. Roman's face comes on the screen. Bill starts to turn off the TV but Nicki won't let him. Bill knows the trial has been hard on Nicki but he doesn't want them to get pulled into the mess. He makes her promise she'll stay out of it. Nicki offers to stay home during the block party so the rest of the family can attend, but he says they need to stick together. She is afraid Bill will have to send her away if things get worse, but he says that's a last case scenario. She's not very comforted by that statement.
The next day, Ana leaves for work and is surprised to find Barb waiting for her in the hall. Ana tells Barb she hasn't slept with Bill, but that's not her worry. She wants to know how much Bill has explained their religion. She explains they believe this life is a speck of time compared to the afterlife. It's eternity that important and the larger the family is, the better they serve their God. Barb tells her they want to formally date Ana as a potential fourth wife. Ana tells Barb she has the wrong idea. She doesn't want to marry any of them and that Bill is very aware of it. Barb is shocked to hear this.
Barb calls Bill at work, and confronts him about Ana. Bill is upset that Barb went to her, but is not having it. She's says, "The first time snuck up on me on my deathbed, the second time the babysitter bit me, this time, I want a say. She gives him three days to make it Holy and if not, it's elicit and he has to break up with her.
At work, Nicki pushes a cart through the office. She pauses as another girl in the office passes by her, but the girl whispers, "Don't look at me." Turns out they are both working undercover for Adaleen. Today is her last day because Adaleen wants to move her over the tax department. She tells Nicki how to get the keys to the files.
Back at the house, Margene and Ana are chatting on the phone. Ana tells Margy about Barb's visit. Margy thinks its a good thing and now she can come clean about knowing Bill is dating Ana, and their friendship. She tells Ana to not worry about Barb.
Down at Home Plus, Bill is on his way out. When he gets in the car, he's surprised to find a young boy inside waiting for him. Its his half-brother Frankie. His dad kicked off him the compound, just like he did to Bill and Joey years ago. Frankie claims he did it because he was talking to one of the girls at Juniper Creek, and asks Bill to convince Frank to let him come home. He takes Frankie home with him and agrees to take him out to Juniper Creek.
But before they head out, Ben comes in with Teenie, and demands she tell Bill, Barb and Nicki what happened. Teenie tells them the O'Hares won't let her play with their kids anymore. They told her she was bad influence but insists she didn't do anything wrong. Ben thinks the Martins must have told the neighbors. Bill and Barb head over the O'Hares's house to confront them. Though two cars are in the driveway, no one answers the door. Back at the house, Barb calls Margene and Nicki in for a house meeting. She tells them that the budget is tight, and they need to cancel the roofers for Nicki's house. Nicki resolves to do it herself. Barb also tells them to that they should prepare themselves for date nights with Ana. Margene secretly smiles but Nicki isn't happy. The budget is already too tight and there will be no place for her live. Barb maintains the family needs to keep growing and shares her three day ultimatum. Margene wants to give Ana a little more time. As they are discussing this, Sarah comes in to borrow the car keys and overhears them discussing a fourth wife. She's furious that Barb would even consider it. She storms out, slamming the door behind her.
Out at Juniper Creek, Joey explains to Bill that Frank kicked Frankie off the compound as a pretext to get a new wife. He thought he would get Kathy, but instead got JoDean, Kathy's twin sister. Alby gave him the authority. Lois comes out ranting and raving, still upset that Bill gave up the chance to take over the UEB and get rid of the Grants once and for all. Bill takes Frankie over to his dad's but he refuses to take him back. Frankie begs his father to let him stay but he tells Bill to take him home. Frankie reluctantly goes with Bill, but then, as soon as they get back to town, Frankie jumps out of the car and runs away.
At the house, Nicki is sewing when she hears a thump outside the house. Shadowed figures run outside the window and she hears laughter. She opens the door to find that her house as been tee-peed. Bill drives up as she's cleaning up the mess. He starts to help her but she's afraid that they are being watched. She thinks she's a risk to the family and needs to go away. But Bill doesn't care, he helps her take it down.
At an abandoned rest stop, Alby sits in his truck. He taps on the brake lights and signals the only other truck in the lot. The lights flicker back. Alby gets out the car and goes in to the bathroom. A man enters and sneaks up behind him. Alby leans over the sink, ready for a little action. The man leans over Alby, but then pulls a knife out of his back pocket. He whispers, "You're pretty hot Alby." Right away, Alby knows he's been set up. He turns as the man takes a swing at him with the knife. Alby knocks the knife away, but the man overpowers him and forces his head in the overflowing sink. Just when it looks like it may be all over for Alby, two kids come in the bathroom. The man runs out and once again, Alby catches a lucky break.
Back at the house, Heather picks up Sarah to go to work. Sarah shares the news that she was accepted at the University of Utah. Heather is excited because they planned on rooming together, but Sarah tells her she wants to go to school out of state. She'll die if she stays in Utah.
Margene and Bill meet with Jerry and his wife, Ladonna. Ladonna does not beat around the bush, asks them straight out about how the "polygamy thing" works and if they are a cult. Margene explains they are just a normal family and the wives take turns. Ladonna admits she's intrigued by their proposal, she's confused why they would want to be in business with the reservation, because "Mormons have a pretty odd view on Indians." The Book of Mormon refers to Indians as loathsome Lamanites. Margene jumps in again, saying they aren't really "Mormon Mormons" and tries some of her tribal language on them. Bill just freezes, having no idea what she said. Ladonna is pleasantly surprised and says, "Yes, we are peaceful people." She likes Margene. Jerry moves in to talk business and Bill gives Margene a thankful squeeze under the table.
Back at the house, Nicki gets a call from Alby. He wants to know if she's working for their father. She denies it. He thinks Bill tried to have him killed by using his "proclivities" against him. Nicki insists they had nothing to do with it. Alby is completely confused.
Later that night, Bill explains the prophecy to Ana, and asks her to consider joining the family. It has to be done the Holy way. She's not into it. He tells her that he's starting to fall in love with her and she jumps him and the next thing you know, they are actually going at it. Not so Holy after all. When he gets home, he finds Barb and Margene together, waiting for him. He tells them he's never going to see Ana again. Ever.
The next day, Adaleen is in the back of her van, recording the next chapter of her book about life with Roman. Nicki comes in, frantic because she had to wait in the copyroom for 45 minutes with the papers she stole from the office. Adaleen complains she only got two copies but Nicki says she's taking a big risk. Plus she's worried that Alby is going to come after them because he think Bill tried to kill him. Adaleen is not surprised. She says it's his own fault because of what he chooses to be. "Tap, tap, tap." Looks like Adaleen set the whole thing up.
At the house, Bill confronts his neighbor, Rob O'Hare, as he prepares his grill for the block party. Bill tries to find out why he has a problem with Teenie, or his family, but then Rob asks why Bill lets the daughter of Roman Grant rent one of his houses. Bill is furious. He storms back to the house and announces they are all going to the block party, no matter what the neighbors think. Nicki refuses to go.
Meanwhile, Margene sneaks over to Ana's house. She gives her a present, the Book of Mormon. Ana thanks her but she says it's too late. Margene tries to convince her that Bill still cares for her, and tells her not throw it all away.
At the office, Nicki is delivering the mail. One of the lawyers comes out and tells her she gave him the wrong mail. He introduces himself and asks her name. She tells him her name is Margene. Right then, two sisterwives from the compound come out of the office crying. Nicki quickly turns away so they don't recognize her. The lawyers are enraged because they aren't going to testify anymore and want to know how Roman Grant is getting to them.
Back at Juniper Creek, Adaleen drives her van down the street and stars to turn on the compound. She stops and waits for the traffic to clear. She notices Alby, coming from the opposite direction. As she passes her, they glance at each other. She scowls at him. As she turns in the compound, he stops and realizes: It was her.
Back at the house, the Henrickson prepares to go the block party. Teenie says she's afraid but Bill tells her to be proud of who she is. Nicki stays behind. At the block pary, no one is talking to the Henricksons. They stand alone, the cart full of hot dogs. Bill tells Barb to take Teenie to get some dessert as Carl comes over to talk to Bill. Nicki heads up to her roof, to do the repairs. Some of the kids come over and steal her ladder, leaving her trapped.
Barb runs into Patti O'Hare, who makes a comment about how different their daughters are. Barb asks what she means, and she just says, Teenie is growing up quickly. Barb and Margene head back to the house and notice that Bill has gotten into an argument with Rob O'Hare. They start to head over, when Teenie runs back, upset. Patti O'Hare is right behind her. She caught Teenie with her boys again and doesn't want her hanging out with them. Barb tries to defend her family but Patti says it's not her family, just Teenie. Turns out she's charging 50 cents for the boys to look at dirty magazines. She hangs a Playpen to Barb. Barb responds, "That's it?" She realizes they had it all wrong.
She and Margene rush over to Bill, who's about to expose them all to Rob O'Hare. Just as he's about to lay it all out, Nicki calls from the roof. She's been watching the whole thing. She admits that she's Roman Grant's daughther and says she always wanted a normal life off the compound and the Henrickson's and Margy were only trying to help her be free. She would move before she would hurt them.
Bill goes over to help her down from the roof. They all congratulate her for being so brave. And then Ana shows up. She says, "Okay, I'm here. On your terms."
Hopefully, the neighbors didn't notice.
