ITV were big winners at last night’s Royal Television Society Awards.
TV presenting duo Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly scooped the prize for Best Entertainment Performance, while The X Factor lifted the trophy in the Entertainment Programme category.
The I’m A Celebrity presenters beat Graham Norton and Charlie Brooker and the men, whose success follows them receiving the Most Popular Entertainment Presenter award at the National Television Awards in January, said although they were thrilled to win they were exhausted because they ‘gate crashed’ as many television and radio stations as they could the night before to raise money for Comic Relief.
Dec told Bang Showbiz: “We’re exhausted today to be honest because of the Comic Relief event yesterday. We visited almost 40 TV and radio stations yesterday and broadcasted to 40 million viewers and listeners.
“It was a full, long evening so we’re a bit tired. Hopefully,...

He's one of those British comedians -- Irish, actually, but famous in England -- whose popularity hasn't quite jumped the pond, as it were, to America. But if you're a fan of Graham Norton, then his return to American airwaves (as opposed to the broadcast of his British talk show on BBC America) is a welcome one. The impishly sly and quick-witted Norton, who tried a frontal assault on America with a short-lived version of his British talk show on Comedy Central in 2004, has returned on the We network, hosting a game show called Most Popular, airing at 10 Pm Edt Thursdays on the We network. While some treasure Norton's saucy, gossipy chats with willing celebrities on his talk show, Most Popular plays to another of his strengths: his ability to get ordinary folks to open up -- and his speed with...

Last night — sandwiched between two episodes of its anchor program, Bridezillas — We tv rolled out a new game show, Most Popular. The premise is sort of The Newlywed Game meets American Idol meets The Moment of Truth meets a really awkward episode of The View meets your high school yearbook.
So, basically, everyone's worst nightmare — only last night's show featured a frank discussion about Prop. 8 and a lesbian bride who actually won the popularity contest.
But first let's talk about the nightmare.
Graham Norton (who, thanks to the magic of TV, was hosting How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria? over on BBC America at the same time he was hosting Most Popular) introduced the show like this:
Is there a secret to being popular? Is it being liked or being likable? Is it what you wear or how much it cost? Or, could we be popular merely by being ourselves.

He is part of the U.K. reality invasion: Four years after moving from the U.K. to Los Angeles, unscripted producer Simon Andreae has several series on the air and in the works on U.S. cable networks.
At We, his company Incubator TV is behind the upcoming series "Most Popular," hosted by Graham Norton, and is producing another new series, "Modern Love," for the cable channel.
Incubator's "My Shocking Story" is entering its fourth season on Discovery Channel U.K. (Tlc carries it in the U.S.), and its series "Popular Science's Future Of" launches next month on the Science Channel.
At History, the company is producing the new series "Strange Rituals" and is working on a special about ancient times.
"In a crowded market, you have to have a brand to stand out," Andreae said. "We call our brand of programming 'eye glue with Iq' -- our shows are smart,...

I was feeling a bit disappointed that this weekend's Graham Norton Show is the last episode of the season — but it turns out he has a new TV series coming our way next month on We tv.
Judging from the preview (and a few bits of information I've been able to find), Most Popular features seven women competing for a $10,000 prize, with the studio audience voting out a competitor who has lost their sympathy (or interest) until they have a winner. It sounds like a solid fit for Norton, who has shown an ability to keep a sharp barb from sounding too cruel.
The series will also occasionally tackle gay issues, as the preview includes a woman revealing that her fiancee is a woman and another guest being revealed as transgender. The show debuts on July 19, but in the meantime check out the preview below.
