Shiv is really the true successor...
AlsExGal7 October 2019
...regardless of whether or not she ever gets that title. She has proven to be her dad in every way possible - passionate, ruthless, calculating, even negotiating an open marriage while she was still in her wedding dress!

This episode shows that she has been playing her dad like a grand piano when it came to Rhea, and that the best thing to do was to let her assume the reins and then watch her fold like a cheap suit. How did that happen? Watch and find out.

Kendall is not the damaged guy he seems to be as he gets an opportunity to be eloquent and rises to the occasion. I think he just has the heavy weight of conscience on his shoulders and believes he does not deserve happiness. What was up last week with him acting like he had found true love and then just suddenly breaking it off because the girl said the word "awesome" a couple of times?

Greg and Tom - two beta peas in a pod - crack under pressure just as predicted. This would have been comical, if it wasn't for the potential tragedy you can see in each of their arcs. How do they crack? Again, watch and find out.

As for the writing, top notch as always and so ripped from the headlines this week. Called before Congress because of a whistle blower and the patriarch of the family may or may not be losing it? So oddly prescient. Highly recommended.

Shiv steals it!
and_mikkelsen13 March 2023
My god that scene with Shiv and Kira was qmazing! One of the best scenes in the show due to its phenominal writing, acting and intense atmosphere! Overall this episode was really intense! Nail-biting with no way of knowing how things would pan out! Its a game where everyone thinks about what THEY want!

Now events of the past comes back to haunt you! The show captures an era where no one is safe from their past, perfectly! Its all personal gain! Roman's story is equally intense with no way of knowing whats gonna happen!

Can not wait for the finale! Stakes have never been higher! Time for a bloodsacrifice.

Strong episode leading (hopefully!) into an amazing finale.
bayleykedar18 November 2021
A lot of tension boils to the surface in this one, as the gang speak before Congress in DC. There's a lot to unpack and a lot that needed to happen to build up to the season's finale, but 'DC' managed to set this up perfectly.

We begin to see the family fall apart at the hinges (if it was possibly for them to do so any more!) and it really seems to be completely unravelling for Logan now. The acting, as per usual, is strong across the board, and Roman's side story is odd yet engaging. It feels like these side stories are beginning to collide for the finale, a testament to the stellar writing on display to be able to weave these tales together.

If Logan's last line means anything, it's that next episode is going to be bloody.

Best episode so far
samzhang-5652726 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was easily the best episode of Succession. Easily.

This series has been building up to the two-part court room trial. As someone who has a sweet spot for court room episodes (see Chicanery, Better Call Saul), this episode was perfect, showing the Roy family at both their lowest and highest.

With the acting and writing the best ever, the delivery was perfect. This episode showed the brilliance of each of the family members. Roman confirming the deal, Kendall's deflection of the senator's attacks, Shiv being able to convince the witness to drop out, and of course Logan's ability to sway the court and manipulate those around him. This is the height of the Roy family, working together and solving a seemingly impossible predicament.

Masterful.

great episode but...

Warning: Spoilers
It was a great one but i just don't get why american tv shows show other countries in an irrelevant way? i don't know what others are seeing from "news" but those kind of things like men with guns walking in the streets or randomly showing up in a meeting does not happen in turkey. it was actually funny in this episode when men with guns entered the room and everybody there reacted it normally while the americans were very disturbed with it.

but anyway, it's a great episode for sure

[8.6] Give Shiv larger high heels!

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 9: A great one before the season's finale. Deep, multi-layered with eloquence, calculation, deceit and honestly, the outcome isn't clear; not clear at all.

Jeremy Strong and Sarah Snook prove again what amazing actors they are.

One just: The scenes at the hotel with those armed guys didn't feel realistic. All that, including the behaviors, felt campy.

Laughed so much
RobTortureWright8 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
From Greg's constant panicking to the emails that Tom sent to Greg, to the absolute hilarious line "Full disclosure, I'm currently having a panic attack" I don't think I've laughed this much at a show that isn't a comedy.

Honestly I thought succession was going to be a hard nosed serious look at the shady business world, and while it definitely is that, it's comedy is some of the best I've ever heard. It's isn't necessarily the jokes themselves, it's a combination of the great acting, perfect writing and timing to insert the joke in a very precise moment. I have to say I've laughed more at this show than any other in recent memory and it was a totally unexpected but a welcome addition. This episode is both gritty and funny in equal measure and overall it's just the perfect watch.

It blends drama and laughs, serious but playfulness so brilliantly. This episode and the whole show is masterfully done.

A Sad Commentary...But a True One
Hitchcoc15 September 2022
The gang has to testify before congress. They are having trouble getting a strategy. At first the thing is a disaster. Rhea, who seems to be in control up to this point, has no answers. So Shiv takes over. There is a key witness, a woman who has been victimized. Shive goes to see her, and with a silver tongue tells her what she and her children will face if she testifies. We get to see that going forward, Shive is her father. Kendall, whom we have been rooting for, has slipped back into the slime. This is a realistic commentary on what our world is like today. The saddest thing is that people fall for the power brokers because they have the tools to manipulate and arrange. I'm interested to see what happens in the final episode of Season 2.

This is my favorite show but in this episode I did not like the way they show Turkey as a Turkish. This is not how Turkey is. Men with guns??! Come on, it's ridiculous.

Peak
tiiillleerrr11 June 2022
THIS RIGHT HERE IS PEAK TELEVISION. The court room scenes are so well acted and are so tense even with humorous beats. Then of course the scene with Shiv just shows how badly she wants the top spot and how masterfully she is at manipulating. There are a ton of other things I can say about this brilliant episode. As of how this is easily my favorite... and apparently the next episode is even better.

One great one to last to season finale
JonyVeana14 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Congress in DC, they actually build a exact replica as the real congress, the MVP of the episode was Kendall, what an amazing performance of Strong, the family is in a very complicated situation, the uncle Lester also know as Mo (Mo Lester), it has a very awful individual and the Logans are paying the price, the episode was strong with a lot of emotive moments including one with one of the victims of previously mentionated individual, Shiv character has an incredible character development, she is confused, she was betrayed by her father, she is conflicted right now about this situation with the congress, and in the other part of the world it's Roman, no idea what is happening with him.

Overall a fantastic almost season finale for one of the best tv seasons off all time succession season 2.

Great episode, stellar writing
85122218 December 2023
Greetings from Lithuania.

DC, a ninth episode of Succession was a superb one in every way. Writing was especially good one, focusing on consequences of the past events, and it was done extremally well. I liked how this family tries to survive and save their own in every way they can - but every one of us would have, given the circumstances.

Overall, previous episodes and events in the past lead to this, and i will say no more. With only one episode left in season 2 i bet its going to be even more great. With writing, pacing and acting being this good this is very good series so far, despite characters being not the bet people on earth.
