“Match Game,” which Alec Baldwin has hosted since 2016, won’t return to ABC’s lineup next season, and neither will “Card Sharks,” “Celebrity Dating Game” and “The Hustler,” a source close to the productions confirmed to TheWrap on Friday.
The decision on “Match Game” comes after Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October. Despite the civil lawsuits filed against the actor, the pending cancellation is likely unrelated, according to Variety, which first reported the story.
“Match Game” last taped in 2020 before the pandemic and only ran two new episodes in 2021. “Card Sharks,” hosted by Joel McHale; Sony Pictures TV’s “Celebrity Dating Game,” hosted by Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton; and All3Media’s Studio Lambert’s “The Hustler,” which was hosted by Craig Ferguson, have also not aired since 2021. “Match Game and “Card Sharks” are both Fremantle productions.

The Alec Baldwin-hosted “Match Game” isn’t expected to return to ABC, as the Alphabet web begins to firm up its plans for its annual game show-heavy summer lineup.
Also unlikely to return are “Card Sharks,” “Celebrity Dating Game” and “The Hustler,” while “Celebrity Family Feud,” “Press Your Luck” and “The 100,000 Pyramid” are expected to be back.
The fate of “Match Game” had been the source of speculation in the wake of Baldwin’s accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the independent production “Rust” last fall.
But ABC’s decision to cancel “Match Game” is not related to that incident; “Match Game” hasn’t been in production since 2020, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic — and only aired two new episodes in 2021, which had been left over from the previous year.
The latest revival of “Match Game,” hosted by Baldwin, debuted in 2016, and ran for five seasons.

Jones is joining the Starz crime drama’s Season 2 in a recurring role as Federal Agent Tracy Chambers, the network announced Thursday. Her character is described as formidable, smart and calculating. Agent Chambers knows how to “maneuver the bureaucracy that comes with carrying a badge” after spending years on the streets going up against treacherous criminals and drug dealers. NBC rung in the New Year winning the first Sunday primetime of 2022.
With primetime scheduling returning back to normal following a repeats and special-filled holiday break, Sunday’s usual suspects were back at the top. NBC’s coverage of the Sunday Night Football Minnesota Vikings-Green Bay Packers game was the night’s highest-rated and most-watched program overall. The showdown, which saw the Packers dominate their opponents 37-10, earned an impressive 3.7 demo rating and 14.33 million viewers, per fast affiliates. Numbers are set to rise as they typically do with major live events, like sports games. Sunday’s game was up from the previous week’s between the Dallas Cowboys-Washington Football Team.
Coming in second overall was Fox’s The Ot, which provided the premiere of Next Level Chef a nice boost. The latest Gordon Ramsay cooking competition was the highest-rated non-sports title of Sunday night. While...

NBC ruled Sunday primetime with the latest Sunday Night Football game between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers earning the evening’s top demo rating and highest viewership.
In fast affiliates, the Packers’ 45-30 victory scored a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 15.06 million viewers, leaving the rest of Sunday’s titles, including premieres and special coverage behind by a large margin. Sunday Night Football was up against Fox’s Coverage of the 70th Miss Universe, which saw Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu walk away with the highly-coveted crown. Numbers are set to change pending adjustment, as is the cast with most live events.
The weekly football showdown was also up against CBS’ 60 Minutes and the premiere of A Christmas Proposal. CBS took the lead among non-sports programming, earning a nice boost from extended NFL Football overrun.
