A good episode with both storyline and character development.

I will watch the next installment

The two versions of the original character, Swedish & English, took me a few moments to negotiate, but after accepting each as its own entity, I valued both. So, yes setting details distract me.

But I do get over them. This series mixes all kinds of crossover issues. Young Wallander is set in contemporary Sweden (Henriksson would have been of age in the 1960s, Branaugh on the 70s, but I digress again. Although set in Malmö, this series is clearly a London vibe, (despite Pälsson's accent). Then there was a Scot, then an Irishman, I started to get dizzy.

But again, I got over it. The story kept me engaged. Some was predictable but I'm old & watch many of these shows. The actors carried me on the journey, as did the the direction & cinematography. Weaving in threads of Mankell's story, e.g., the father's artwork was a nice touch.

I accept this series on its own merit. It has potential for a few seasons, which I will eagerly view.

It's Never Enough

Successes are wiped out by failures in this third episode. The search continues for the young man who committed the murder. But things aren't alway easy. The man in the coma haunts Kurt, but there is some positive news. I'm having trouble with this Wallander because he acts rather stupidly at times. The series could have ended twice because due to his carelessness he could have died on two occasions. I find his colleagues, especially the woman, zombie-like with little or no emotional investment. I'm not sure I'd want to be a detective if I had to work with those two. Still, events are intriguing.

Excellent in all areas.

Wallander and his colleagues begin interviewing illegal immigrants placed in a Centre funded by a Wealthy businessman. One woman seems to have a link to the killer.

Easily the best episode of the series so far, this episode offers much a delivers, it's exciting, dramatic, and finally feels engaging. The two opening episodes were good, this one was a whole lot better.

We get somewhere by way of progress in the crime, we also have new possibilities. Gustav Munck seems like a very interesting addition, if he isn't a bad guy I'll be surprised.

Excellent scenes at the end, lots of tension, dramatic right until the credit rolled. This is the turning point.

Excellent, 9/10.
