six wings and chips, twice
ferguson-65 June 2020
Greetings again from the darkness. "Six wings and chips, twice." That's the order placed as two lifelong friends catch up for a visit. It's likely the last visit for quite some time as Isaac tells Jude that he's moving from their neighborhood to a different part of London. First time director Abraham Adeyami and the actors give us everything we need to know in this 10 minute short.

The men meet up at Morley's, their childhood hangout. We know this because as they square off across the table over baskets of wings, we see flashbacks to their childhood in the same venue. The older men are discussing how the realities of life have led them down divergent paths, while their younger selves are full of plans and dreams.

Ivanno Jeremiah plays the business suit wearing Isaac, and Parys Jordon plays the streetwise Jude. They have their own language, and a communication rhythm that only a lifetime of friendship creates. Nods, knowing looks, and subtle indicators convey their feelings while emphasizing that only one still believes "there's no place like home." Multiple messages are delivered in a concise, well-acted, and well-filmed story.

great work

A great portrait of friendship, precise, touching and realistic in each scene. Two friends and their divergent ways in the life. A film about friendship and truth. Admirable crafted, mixing the warm of a long time relation with the cold air of present realities. So, just great.
