This was the last opportunity to see these objects in the United Kingdom before they travelled to South Africa later that year. As at 2020 this exhibition hasn't been since 2011/12. All items returned to their respectful owners.
It was the battle in which the most ever Victoria Crosses in British military history were awarded to a regiment in a single conflict. (eleven).

Stanley Baker was a very ardent Welshman and he over-egged the Welshness of the regiment to produce an interesting film. It was ground-breaking at the time.
