Official opening day was held on 24th July 2010.
For the opening day launch party, artist Anna Druka was commissioned to paint several scenes from ZULU (oil on canvas) These pictures were displayed and made available for sale on the day.
Members of the Ibutho Anglo Zulu-war group was present at the launch party giving interviews and chatting generally. They really added realism and authenticity in their gallant uniforms throughout the day.
This documentary was originally available (on Dvd) only through the Zulufilmstore website, but has since been deleted. However, It can be viewed online at various sites.
Renowned film historian Sheldon Hall was present at the exhibitions opening (as is interviewed in the film) His book 'Zulu - With some guts behind it' had only just been released. The book is based on three years of original research and dozens of new interviews with cast and crew members and their families. It includes: The original article by John Prebble, never before published in full; First-hand accounts of shooting the film, many never before published; Extracts from the screenplay and script notes, never before published; Extracts from letters and production documents, never before published; Hundreds of rare and unusual illustrations, many never before published; Biographies of all the principal actors and filmmakers.
