Redcoats make their way through the caves and don't find who they're looking for. The ranking officer, Frederick Gideon, finds a mystical opening that cracks the rock, revealing the Black Door. A glowing bullet shoots out and just misses Gideon commander, and the soldiers take up positions as they hear bluecoats coming. The two sides open fire, and one wounded Redcoat, Howe, is wounded and staggers toward the portal. Another glowing bullet takes him in the throat, and he turns and shrugs off his companions' shots when they open fire on him. One of them charges Howe with his bayonet, and Howe easily kills the man. One of the Bluecoats fires and knocks Howe back into the portal, while Gideon looks at the stone he picked up. He goes to the portal and stares at it, entrance. Another glowing bullet shoots out and embeds itself in his chest, and Gideon's eyes turn solid black and he smiles with now-fanged teeth.
In the present day, the demon possessing Eden and Dodge wearing the Gabe body arrive at the portal entrance and look for the "whispering bullets". Gabe finds one of the rocks, now inert, and shows it to Eden. Two Coast Guard men come in and say the caves flood at high tide, and Eden and Gabe shouldn't be there. Eden takes out the Crown of Shadows and puts it on, then raises her hand to summon shadow forms around the cave. The forms kill the two newcomers, while Eden and Echo look on, smiling.
Kinsey is sitting on a swan floater in the middle of the lake, relaxing with a drink as she sketches out a poster for the Savini Squad's movie. She finally walks out of across the surface of the lake and out of her own mind, and takes the Head Key out of her physical body's neck. Tyler comes in and asks if he can borrow the Head Key, and Kelsey asks him if he has the Mending Key, so she can use it to fix her dress for the premiere. Tyler gives it to his sister. He confirms he'll be at the movie premiere and leaves.
Nina is taking laundry back, and hears something moving. She goes to investigate, and finds Bode trying to get a couch through a doorway, casually lifting it. Nina wonders how he's lifting it so easily, and her son tells her that he found a new Key, the Hercules Key, that makes him super-strong when he uses it with the Hercules Belt. He wishes that she could remember, and the memories of what they're talking about fade from Nina's mind. She asks why he's there, and Bode says that he's fixing up Duncan's room now that he's staying with them.
In town, Kinsey is putting up flyers for the premiere. Echo-as-Gabe catches up to Kelsey, dressed as a giant lobster from the movie, and they kiss and then Kelsey suggests they go to the ice cream store. When Echo tells Kelsey that Scot quit to have more time to work on the movie, Kelsey goes in any way to put up some flyers on the community board.
Tyler and Jackie are in Jackie's bedroom, working on their list of college to apply for. Tyler convinces her to use the Head Key to finish her summer reading, and then they can hang out and enjoy the rest of the summer. He reminds Jackie that her 18th birthday is coming up and they kiss.
Nina is in the kitchen making supper, and Daniel arrives with some tomatoes from his garden. Bode come in and overhears Daniel telling Nina that it's been three months since Ellie disappeared, and the police don't have any leads and they're reclassifying it as a cold case. After five years Ellie will officially be declared dead;
Bode runs upstairs, and Nina assures Daniel that she knows he did everything he could. She then says that Bode has talked to Rufus, who is still in Nebraska with his aunt and uncle. In his room, Bode puts on the Hercules Belt with the Hercules Key, then shoves the sofa through the doorframe, breaking the frame. He realizes what he's done and calms down, then looks around the room and wonders what everything is there. He finds a monstrous rat skull and runs out, frightened.
At the academy, Eden and Echo go to Eden's room, and Echo heats one of the bullets they found, using a blowtorch. He melts a piece off of it, and tells Eden that they just need a place to operate.
That night, Bode shows Tyler and Kinsey the rat skull. Tyler jokingly suggests that they build a large mousetrap, and Bode points out that there's a lot they don't know yet. His older brother agrees and says that they'll figure it out. The doorbell rings when Duncan and Brian arrive. They have dinner with the family, and Nina mentions that Kinsey has been visiting Erin Voss in the hospital. Duncan suggests that he and Tyler restore his 1969 GTO Pontiac, "Gracie". Brian speaks in Japanese, practicing for his upcoming trip to Japan. When Brian gets back, Duncan announces that they're getting married and the family toasts them.
As Nina and Brian do dishes, Brian says that they planned to get married on the grounds of Keyhouse. They talk about if Nina is seeing anyone, and she says that she hasn't put herself out. Brian notices that she's still wearing her wedding ring, and Nina figures that she probably shouldn't.
Eden and Echo drive to an old trailer in the woods. The owner comes out with a shotgun and tells them to get off his property. Echo tells him that they're taking the place, then beats the man to death with a shovel, and they move their crates in. When Echo gets some texts, he says that they have to get to the premiere. Eden suggests that she turn into Kinsey to take the Keys from the Locke, and Echo gives her a key and tells Eden to try. Eden tries to use the Identity Key in but it doesn't work, and Echo demonstrates by turning into her female form and says they can't use the Key to turn into a real person, but only to create a brand new person like she did with Gabe. She was able to turn into Lucas because she already was Lucas, and Gabe because everyone would think he fell in love with Eden. Eden says that Echo might be selling that too well, and Echo says that she brought the being possessing Eden there and can get rid of it and her whenever she wants. Echo then uses the Key to change back to Gabe, and tells Eden to get ready.
At the theater where 'The Splattering' is premiering, Scot thanks people for coming as they enter. He worries to Doug that people might not like the film, but Doug doesn't care. Kelsey arrives and calls to Scot. They hug and Scot says that Doug work there and swung all of it for them. He says that he hasn't been around all summer because he's been focusing on the film and he says that he wants to talk to her about something later. Gabe comes over and puts his arm around Kelsey, and then kisses Kelsey as the Squad poses for photos, and makes sure that Scot sees.
Bode, Tyler, Duncan, and Nina arrive for the premiere and the snack counter boy Karl flirts with Nina. Abby comes over and tells Kinsey that she's kickass in the movie. She says that she transferred to the academy, and Scot comes over and says that he spent the summer with Abby, and she composed all the music for the film. Doug calls everyone inside,
Eden is in the audience, and goes out to order snacks and flirts with Karl. Eden says that she just got her body a few months ago, kisses Karl, and bites his lip. Echo senses what's going on and goes out, and finds no one at the snack counter. He finds Eden sitting behind the counter with the dead Karl, her mouth covered in blood and casually eating popcorn. Eden offers some to Echo, and he tells Eden that they need to clean up and get rid of the body before the film ends,
Everybody laughs at the film, and Bode knocks some pop into Nina's lap. Nina goes to get some napkins, and arrives at the counter just as Echo and Eden drag Karl's body through a doorway using the Anywhere Key. Seeing them and opening the door behind them, all Nina sees it the theater on the other side. Echo come out of the restroom and asks Nina is she's enjoying the movie, and she says that she just saw him with a girl. Feigning ignorance, Echo asks Nina if she's feeling all right. Kinsey and others come out, and Scot and Kinsey smile at each other.
Bode asks Echo if he'll kill him off in the sequel, and Echo is glad to promise that. He quickly covers up the blood from Karl on her hand, when he high-fives Bode. Scot invites Kinsey to the wrap party, and she accepts. The party is on the beach, and Kinsey watches Scot talking to Abby. Zadie suggest to Kinsey they tell Abby about the Keys, and it feels like she's part of the Squad now. Kinsey vaguely agrees, and Eden comes by, say hello, and then goes to get some punch. She goes into the house, and Echo grabs her by the throat and says that she almost ruined the evening because of her low impulse-control. Eden wonders why she's helping Echo, and Echo says because he told Eden to and she can't die, but Eden can. Echo goes out and tells Kinsey that he's not feeling well, and is going to go home.
Outside on the beach, Tyler starts a fire with the Matchstick Key, and tells Jackie that they used the Plant Key for some of the special effects in the film. Jackie stares blankly at Tyler, and admits she doesn't know anything about the Keys and shows her the Matchstick Key. She finally remembers, and dismisses it as her spacing.
In the house, Scot approaches Kinsey, and she figures that he wanted to tell her that he and Abby are together. Scot tells Kinsey that the he and Abby are just mates, and he leads Kinsey off to tell her that he applied to a film program in the UK and its down to him and one other applicant. If he does get in, he'll be leaving in a few weeks. Scot had to told Kinsey first, and he didn't want to surprise her if he was accepted. Kinsey tells Scot that she's happy for him. The other Squad members come over and offer Scot and Kinsey drinks, and offer a toast to the film's director and his "muse".
At Keyhouse, Kinsey goes into her head and out onto her boat on the lake, and looks at a phone photo from the premiere. "Scot" appears on another boat and says that she summoned him, and it's her head. Kinsey says that she doesn't want him in her head, and turns to see he's disappeared. Scot reappears on shore and points out that she can't stop thinking about him. Kinsey says that she can, concentrates, and Scot disappears from shore only to appear behind her on her boat. She shoves him into the water and goes back to her body in her bedroom and she gets a text. Tyler comes in and asks if they can talk.
The siblings go out on the veranda and Tyler tells Kinsey that Jackie starting to forget the Keys just like Nina does. Since Jackie will be 18 in a few weeks, and adults can't remember the Keys, she's starting to forget. Tyler will be 18 in a few months, and Kinsey figures they have time to change things, and assures her brother that they'll figure it out.
Back at the cabin, Echo melts down the bullet as Eden looks on, and makes a mold. Echo pours the iron into the mold and makes a new Demon Key.
