With sparkly new sets (designed by New York's own David Rockwell) and an overarching conceit ('How to Make a Movie,' in somewhat chronological order), The 81st Annual Academy Awards tried to reinvent the Oscar wheel, to varying degrees of success. There were highs and lows and in betweens, and Tribeca has culled some of the best (and worst) for your viewing pleasure. Slumdog Millionaire has been winning awards all over the world for months, and the focus has all been on Danny Boyle, Simon Beaufoy, and young stars Dev and Freida. The Oscars were destined to turn out the same way, until some last minute scrambling allowed the rest of the cast to partake in the celebration. Even before any statues were handed out Sunday night, the six younger versions of Jamal, Salim and Latika were melting hearts on the red carpet. Their excitement was infectious and pure, and...

The 81st Annual Academy Awards was probably the best in years! Hugh Jackman did an excellent job as host, he was entertaining, funny, and just everything a host should be.
Honestly, I haven't enjoyed an awards show so much ever I think. The only part I was seriously frustrated at was the memorial for the people that died in 2008. And it wasn't Queen Latifah's fault, she sang beautifully, it was the damn Oscar director who kept switching cameras and was so far off the screen you couldn't read the names...very frustrating.
Hugh was fantastic, even Steve Martin was funny, which these days is a feat. Ben Stiller, oh my god, that was hilarious in his pseudo-Joaquin Phoenix beard, priceless! Hugh definitely needs to come back again next year! The ceremony was very old Hollywood but also very entertaining, something this show hasn't been in quite a while.

As the official network to air the 81st Annual Academy Awards ceremony, ABC have also done extensive programs related to the biggest movie event. Correspondent Barbara Walters did what she does best, investigating and interrogating several stars in a one hour special that airs before the actual ceremony took place at 8.30 P.M. Et.
Jonas Brothers in particular sat down to answer some burning questions from Barbara and let her follow through their daily life. Barbara started the special with the introduction of each of the brothers, and went on with their achievements. She also interviewed the boys' parents, Denise and Kevin Sr., and went to the theater with the trio to watch their latest 3D film "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience".

Something we thought never happened in our live times." He then continued with singing and dancing alongside a bunch of hunks and when he shouted, "Wait a minute, something is missing," Knowles appeared and joined him in the song-and-dance routine.

It was a film that nearly went straight to DVD, based on the Indian version of a Chris Tarrant TV show, but last night Slumdog Millionaire was a wholesale triumph at the 81st Academy Awards. Danny Boyle’s Mumbai tale took a grand total of eight Oscars including Best Film, Best Director, Best Song, Best Score and Best Adapted Screenplay. A good evening for Boyle and for the entire cast of the film (almost all of whom seemed to find their way on stage for the final win), leaving David Fincher’s Benjamin Button with just three technical awards, including a well-deserved win for Visual effects.Milk managed to scoop not only the award for Best Original Screenplay but also bestow upon Sean Penn his second Oscar for Best Actor. Best Actress went to Kate Winslet for her outstanding role as former Auschwitz guard Hanna Schmitz in Stephen Daldry’s The Reader.

And the Oscars coveted award of Best Motion Picture of the Year goes to "Slumdog Millionaire". This announcement consequently brings a total of eight nods for the film and a conclusion for this year's Academy Awards which was held at Los Angeles' Kodak Theater on Sunday, February 22.
The crew and stars of the movie were summoned to the stage by producer Christian Colson and director Danny Boyle. Colson said on the acceptance speech, "As you can see, our film was a collaboration of hundreds of people and I'm glad that so many of them could make it here tonight." The producer also added that "Slumdog" had virtually no money but a story that inspired "mad love" and a genius director.
Other multiple winners included "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", "The Dark Knight" and "Milk". While being nominated for thirteen categories, "Benjamin Button" has only managed to take home three kudos on the night.

Walking the red carpet of the 81st Annual Academy Awards wearing a white strapless Prada satin gown, combined with purposely-arranged messy hair and black shoes, Jessica Biel has been considered as one of the worst dressed actresses at the awards gala. Stopping to strike a pose for the camera, she was seen finishing off her look with a pair of long earrings and a black clutch.
In addition to Biel, Beyonce Knowles' form-fitting mermaid style black strapless gown with gold graphic detailing was dubbed as disaster too. No record on who designs her dress, but it is widely believed that the dress is of her mother Tina Knowles' collection.
Amy Adams, who wore a Carolina Herrera red dress to the Oscars over the weekend, was considered the other fashion disaster. Hollyscoop described her gown as "boring" and "so matchy-matchy with her ginger locks." The site, moreover, also blamed her...

Having collected the most nominations for the 81st Annual Academy Awards, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Slumdog Millionaire" have answered the Academy's expectation by showing early leads. While the traveler-tale "Benjamin Button" landed its third prize with Best Visual Effects, the rag-to-riches drama "Slumdog" brought in two additional kudos.
In addition to Best Achievement in Cinematography and Best Adapted Screenplay, "Slumdog" has collected Best Achievement in Editing and Best Sound Mixing. Whereas Best Achievement in Editing was given to Chris Dickens and Best Sound Mixing to Ian Tapp, Richard Pryke and Resul Pookutty, the Best Visual Effects for "Benjamin Button" was awarded to Eric Barba, Steve Preeg, Burt Dalton and Craig Barron.

A leaked document listing the winners of the 81st Annual Academy Awards is a fake, according to an Oscars spokeswoman.
Papers alleging to be the complete list of Sunday's Oscar winners has been published on the internet.
The list was at first believed to be authentic as it is branded with the signature of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' president Sid Ganis.
The list reports the night's main winners will be Mickey Rourke (Best Actor), Kate Winslet (Best Actress), Heath Ledger (Best Supporting Actor) and Amy Adams (Best Supporting Actress).
The paper also shows British filmmaker Danny Boyle will be handed the Best Director award, and his Slumdog Millionaire named Best Picture trophy at the glitzy Hollywood event at Los Angeles' Kodak Theatre.
The document goes on to warn insiders to handle the winning names "with extreme care".
But Oscar bosses have dismissed the list as nothing more than a hoax - insisting the votes are still being counted.
The Academy's spokeswoman Leslie Unger says, "The document is a complete fraud.
"PricewaterhouseCoopers is still counting the ballots and there are only two people there who will know the complete list of winners in advance of the envelopes being opened during the ceremony. The Academy's president is not advised of the winners in advance and no such list is created."
It is not the first time this awards season that a purported winner has been leaked - a star next to Anne Hathaway's name on the Golden Globes' website's list of nominees led to speculation she was to take home the prize for Best Actress. In fact, it was Kate Winslet who went on to win the award.

A clip from "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is likely to be aired during the 81st Annual Academy Awards telecast.
