The Disney-acquired Star Wars live-action lore is unarguably really trying to tighten its grip around the fandom. However, that doesn’t seem to be working, considering fans’ reaction to its latest and upcoming series, with very few series and fans as an exception. Even The Acolyte, which is the next series lined up for release this year from the saga, is ceasing to amuse fans.
The Acolyte.
This stands true because, even before its final release, this soon-to-hit-streaming series has gained massive criticism from fans because of all the changes it will be bringing to the previously massively fan-favorite lore. What’s worse is that this criticism doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon, considering how Jimmy Kimmel recently added even more misery to this project with his roasting.

The Acolyte trailer didn’t do much to garner the interest of Star Wars fans. But it appears that showrunner Leslye Headland is doing some damage control. Her latest interview comments have managed to gain the attention of many fans as she revealed her inspiration behind the series and the several references she used in it. Headland shared that she drew inspiration for The Acolyte from her favorite Clone Wars episode, The Wrong Jedi.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host Jimmy Kimmel once again shared the Disney upfronts stage on Tuesday, providing his zingers in person for advertisers and media buyers at the programming presentation for the first time in five years. That’s because last year Kimmel didn’t attend due to the Hollywood WGA strikes. And in 2022, he was in New York — but had to be beamed in to do his routine after testing positive for Covid. (The 2021 and 2020 upfronts were virtual because of the pandemic.)
“Two years ago, I couldn’t be here in person because I had Covid. And last year, I couldn’t be here because of the writer’s strike. And this year I couldn’t think of a third excuse,” Kimmel said. “I tried diarrhea on the plane, but I guess they get that all the time now.”

The theme of Disney’s 2024 upfront presentation to advertisers Tuesday was “connections” — and not just because of the running bit started by “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Rob McElhenney, which involved their constant replaying of a five-second ad spot that said “Connections!” with a Disneyified logo and voiceover.

Last year, big screen icon Arnold Schwarzenegger made his small screen debut, starring as stogie-smoking CIA operative Luke Brunner in Netflix's action-comedy Fubar. With millions of viewers tuning in to see the streamer's Chief Action Officer in, er, action, a second season was greenlit within weeks. And with production already underway on Brunner's return, we now know who Luke and spook daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) will be facing this time around — and folks, they're going to have their work cut out for them. None other than The Matrix's Trinity herself, Carrie-Anne Moss, has joined the cast of Fubar S2.
As THR reports, action veteran Moss is set to play Luke's former adversary — and former lover — Greta Nelso in the second season. An ex-East German spy who shares "a passionate history" with our man Luke, Greta will represent a new kind of challenge for Arnie's hero, who not...

The next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte, is set to premiere on June 5, and Lucasfilm has now released two new teasers, one of which might confirm (or at least hint at) a recent rumor that's been doing the rounds.
Possible spoilers follow.
The first promo once again sees Master Sol vow to track down his wayward apprentice, Mae, who has seemingly fallen to the Dark Side and become the titular acolyte (which she is referred to as for the first time here). We then see Mae confronted at the edge of a snowy cliff, where she professes her innocence: "I didn't do it... believe me!"
If she is being sincere here, it might just confirm a persistent rumor that actress Amandla Stenberg will actually play a dual role as twins, which means Mae could have an evil sister out there taking down Jedi and framing her sibling for the murders.

Bob Iger recently announced that the studio plans on reducing its creative output and that the fans can expect 2 or 3 movies per year in addition to 2 shows. This is a response to the catastrophic year that’s left Disney as the biggest box-office loser, having the most movies on the list.
The new release schedule is seemingly already kicking in, with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ being the only movie to release this year. But this most likely has more to do with last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike than a change in direction.
New updated Disney schedule doesn’t reflect these changes however, as we still have plenty of Marvel content to look forward to. The first show to arrive on the streaming service is ‘Hit Monkey’ season 2, it arrives on Disney+ on July 15th. Even though it’s not under the MCU umbrella, the show has plenty of fans and it...

Bob Iger just revealed that the studio aims to cut back on its creative output. Fans can anticipate 2 or 3 movies per year, along with 2 shows. This decision follows a disastrous year for Disney, which landed them as the top box-office loser, with the most movies on the flop list.
The new release plan appears to be taking effect, with only ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ hitting screens this year. However, this is probably due more to last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike than a shift in strategy.
Despite the updates, the new Disney schedule still promises a wealth of Marvel content. Leading the charge is the arrival of ‘Hit Monkey’ season 2 on Disney+ on July 15th. While it may not fall under the MCU umbrella, the show boasts a dedicated fan base and is regarded as one of the top Marvel-based animated series at present.

Disney+ has unveiled the teaser trailer for the “four-piece” animated special ‘Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy’.
The animated special showcases the longtime team-up of Lucasfilm and Danish toy manufacturing company, The Lego Group. “It’s hard to believe that it’s been twenty-five years since the ground-breaking collaboration between Lucasfilm and The Lego Group began,” says executive producer James Waugh.
“In that time, Lego Star Wars has given our fans the unique power to unlock their imaginations and play with the galaxy’s elements in any way they can conceive… and build. It’s with that playful spirit in mind that we set out to ‘Rebuild the Galaxy’ like never before. Tapping into the comedic genius of Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, two of the most talented comedy writers I’ve had the fortune of working with, we’ve mixed and matched Lego sets to snap together Imperial X-fighters,...

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is an upcoming adventure television series set in the universe created by George Lucas. The series was created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford and is expected to premiere sometime in 2024. Ahead of the show’s release, Watts spoke about crafting a new experience in the Star Wars world through the series.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is an upcoming series co-created by Jon Watts.
At the same time, Watts also shed light on the show’s use of practical effects. Therefore, it is likely that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be closer in visual style to the earlier films in the franchise, which fans hold dear even today. Meanwhile, the series might also avoid the criticism aimed at the more recent entries in the franchise, which fans hate for overreliance on one particular technique.

Lucasfilm released a new trailer for The Acolyte yesterday (see below) to mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, and a new poster for the next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series has now been unveiled at Ccxp Mexico.
Some fans on social media initially attempted to pass this off as our first look at Darth Plagueis, but a closer look (see the knives?) reveals that it's actually Amandla Stenberg's character, Mae.
Possible spoilers ahead.
Speaking of Master Sol's former apprentice, a rumor relating to this enigmatic Force-wielder has re-emerged with some additional details. According to Daniel Richtman, both Stenberg and Manny Jacinto will actually play dual roles as two pairs of twins - one good, one evil.

Yesterday was May the 4th, better known now as Star Wars Day, and Disney had a treat for us in the release of the latest trailer for The Acolyte. However, it’s worth noting that this is a streaming series and that it’s been quite a long time since we got the last Star Wars film (The Rise of Skywalker) on the big screen. With LucasFilm getting started on The Mandalorian and Grogu for a release in 2026, I thought it would be interesting to poll our readers as to what their favorite Star Wars movie is. While I’m pretty sure it’ll be The Empire Strikes Back, who knows? Maybe some of our younger readers will surprise us.

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is the next most anticipated thing in the Star Wars universe. This is the first live-action show set in the High Republic era, and it’s groundbreaking because it will “sort of” portray the Jedi as the bad guys, due to them being an overwhelming systemic force in that specific time period.
The show was pitched as “Frozen meets Kill Bill” and it has a lot of influences from Samurai and Wuxia films, which will lead to some very promising action scenes.
A new trailer for the show recently dropped, and we can see that everything starts with the fact that Jedi are getting hunted and murdered across the Galaxy. There are insinuations that the Jedi order is not all pleasant as it would be supposed to be and their dominance is rotten to the core, something we’ve learned during the original trilogy as well.

To mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, Lucasfilm has released a brand-new trailer and poster for its next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte.
In addition to some exciting lightsaber action, the teaser reveals more story details, as Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) vows to bring his wayward former apprentice Mae (Amandla Stenberg) to justice.
Mae doesn't appear to be the only one taking down Jedi, however, as we also get a first proper look at the mysterious Sith villain who is behind the murders. His (her?) face is obscured (with a mask not too dissimilar to the ones Kylo Ren and his Knights wore in the sequel trilogy), which may indicate that this formidable warrior will ultimately be unveiled as an already established character.

The dark side clouds everything, including the plot details of the newest Star Wars live-action series, The Acolyte. What we know for sure is that the eight-episode series helmed by Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland is billed as a “mystery thriller” and follows a group of Jedi as they investigate a series of murders 100 years before The Phantom Menace. We also know that the central mystery involves a dangerous warrior named Mae, played by Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies), and the Sith’s plan to eventually eradicate the Jedi during the Prequel Trilogy era.
While The Acolyte‘s latest trailer, which released on Star Wars Day, doesn’t reveal too much more about the show, it does give us a few new hints about the story. Specifically, it reveals a new Sith Lord who took on the Jedi a century before the rise of Palpatine and the Empire! If you haven’t watched it already,...

May 4 marks Star Wars Day — as in the “May the Fourth be with you” — and, as a new trailer reveals, a date one month away from the premiere of the Disney+’s new Star Wars series The Acolyte. In the trailer hyping up The Acolyte’s June 4 premiere, the Jedi are in mortal peril during the High Republic era — they’re being hunted, says Jedi Knight Yord Fandar (Charlie Barnett) — and under criticism. “The Jedi justified a galactic dominance in the name of peace, but that peace is a lie,” trader Qimir (Manny Jacinto) argues. A synopsis for the series, meanwhile, reveals that an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits the respected Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) against Mae, a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). “She was my student.
