CBS’ multiplatform broadcast of Super Bowl Lv fell below the 100 million viewer threshold but set a record for streaming viewing on Sunday, according to Nielsen Live+Same Day fast affiliate ratings.
CBS averaged 92 million viewers who watched the Tampa Bay Buccaneers outscore the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9, according to Nielsen. Additionally, the game had a 38.2 U.S. household rating and was viewed in an average of 45.2 million homes across the country— this year, 68% of U.S. homes with television access were tuned into the Super Bowl telecast. The network not only ran the 2021 NFL championship game, but also all national ads, the halftime show featuring the Weeknd, and pre and postgame coverage.
CBS said the game drew an average minute audience of 5.7 million viewers on streaming platforms, but despite the rise in streaming numbers, viewership was down more than 5% from last year. The 2020 battle for the Vince Lombardi trophy between...

NBC’s “Chicago” crossover trio, which consists of the three dramas “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago Pd,” took up the top three slots in Wednesday’s overnight primetime numbers— again. In the last two weeks, they pulled the same triumph (and in the same order), dominating total viewers and all key demos among the Big 4 networks.
The fast affiliate ratings from Nielsen+Live Same Day indicate that a new episode of the third installment of executive producer Dick Wolf’s franchise, “Chicago Med,” drew a solid 1.0 in the adults ages 18-49 key demo and approximately 7.30 million viewers at 8 p.m. Brother series “Chicago Fire” was runnerup to the medical drama in the key demo, which ran at 9 p.m. and drew a 0.9 rating and 7.18 million viewers. Closing out the NBC trio at 10 p.m. was a new episode of “Chicago P.D.,” which earned a 0.8 in the 18-49 demographic and 6.02 million viewers.

Monday’s primetime crown winner was, for the fifth time in a row, ABC’s long-running dating game show “The Bachelor.” A new episode of Matt James’ season came out at the top of Nielsen’s Live+Same Day fast affiliate rankings, with a 1.4 in the key, adults 18-49 demographic and approximately 5.3 million viewers.
That marks a season high for “The Bachelor,” the second straight week the show has set such a high. The show has also managed to grow its audience for three straight weeks. After ABC’s triumphant 8 to 10 p.m. window, the network dropped a rerun of “The Good Doctor.”
Like last week, a debut episode of Fox’s “9-1-1” at 8 p.m. was runner-up to “The Bachelor” in Monday’s overnight 18-49 numbers, pulling a 0.9 in the key demo and almost 6.49 million viewers, followed by a new episode of “9-1-1” spinoff “9-1-1: Lone Star”.

Matt James may have had a rocky start as the 25th (and only Black) lead of ABC’s top-rated dating show “The Bachelor,” premiering with ratings lows, but for the past four Monday nights, fans have been flocking to watch Bachelor Nation’s latest newcomer seal one-on-ones with kisses, give out coveted group date roses, say hello to a new flock of women and dismiss teary-eyed contestants vying for his heart.
For the evening of Jan. 25, “The Bachelor” came out at the top of Nielsen’s Live+Same Day fast affiliate rankings yet again, with a 1.40 in the key, adults 18-49 demographic and approximately 5.06 million viewers. Though it wasn’t the “winner” of Thursday’s Nielsen Live+Same Day fast affiliate rankings, The CW’s latest series, a Jared Padalecki-fronted reboot of “Walker, Texas Ranger” entitled “Walker” performed outstandingly well compared to the network’s numbers these past couple of weeks. It attracted roughly 2.4 million viewers to the small screen and earned a rating of 0.4 in the key, adults ages 18-49 demographic.
Instead, CBS’ sitcom spinoff “Young Sheldon,” which, like its predecessor “The Big Bang Theory,” is created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, took the cake on Thursday night for the network: the winter return of the series garnered a 0.8 rating in the key demo and 7.5 million viewers.
Elsewhere on television at 8 p.m., ABC’s “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” which is like the classic Pat Sajak and Vanna White-led game show but with— you guessed it— celebrities drew a 0.8 rating in the key demo and 6.1 million viewers.

Even after 17 years on air, Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs continues to arrest the attention of “NCIS” fans. The beloved CBS action-packed police procedural starring Mark Harmon draws impressive numbers for the Big 4 television network.
The drama’s winter return at 8 p.m. was the top program on Tuesday night in Nielsen+Live Same Day stats, obtaining a 0.8 rating in the key, adults ages 18-49 demographic and 9.34 million viewers, a leap of 12.36% in the demo and 9.51% in viewership compared to the last episode, which dropped in December. At 9 p.m., a special episode of “NCIS” attracted 8.4 million viewers and came in second overall in the key demographic, scoring a 0.7.
CBS also took third place in both the key demo and total viewers with a new episode of “FBI: Most Wanted,” which, like “NCIS,” was on holiday hiatus. The “FBI” spinoff garnered a 0.5 rating in the key demo and 5.7 million viewers.

Viewers are going gaga over the rippling pectorals of Bachelor lead, Matt James, and the franchise’s location for its 25th season: a luxurious Pennsylvania resort brimming with chandeliers and catty contestants. ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, which took another walk on the beach with Meredith Grey running into a new old friend, topped the night in Thursday’s primetime ratings with a 1.2 in the adults 18-49 demographic and 5.67 million viewers. It paired with Station 19 and A Million Little Things to give the network the overall victory in both the demo and viewers as the broadcasters mostly returned to originals after the Thanksgiving break.
Grey’s was steady with its previous original two weeks ago, while Station 19 and Million Little Things were off a tenth.
CBS was second overall in viewers and tied for second with NBC in the demo with its comedy lineup back in originals last night, beginning with the night’s most watched show Young Sheldon, followed by rookie B Positive, Mom and The Unicorn — all were even with their last originals.

Monday night saw the return of four CBS series to decent numbers.
All four were back a little later than usual in the broadcast season due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, “The Neighborhood” in particular delivered a solid ratings performance, scoring a 0.9 among adults 18-49 and drawing just over 6 million total viewers. That rating was enough to top the night ahead of “The Voice” and “Dancing With the Stars,” both of which scored a 0.8 rating.
After “Neighborhood,” “Bob Hearts Abishola” returned for season 2 to a 0.7 rating and 5.6 million total viewers, which is only a avery slight decline from its series premiere numbers last year. Fellow sophomore series “All Rise” scored a 0.6 but didn’t fare quite so well in the audience department, premiering to 4.6 million viewers, which is just above a series low. A part-musical season premiere for “Bull” didn’t hit the right notes, falling to a series low 4.9 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.

NBC’s The Voice led Monday’s broadcast ratings in primetime, delivering a 1.0 in the adults 18-49 demographic and 7.45 million viewers. The reality singing competition held steady with last week while adding to its audience. Following the two-hour Voice, NBC warmed us up for Election Day with an SNL election special.
ABC debuted the fourth season of The Good Doctor, which scrubbed in down compared with its Season 3 average, hitting a series low for its return, the first of a two-parter that faces Covid-19 head-on. “The Good Doctor” returned for season 4 on Monday night, but its ratings weren’t exactly what the doctor ordered.
With a 0.6 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.7 million total viewers, the season 4 premiere, which had a pandemic narrative woven through it, represents a series low for the acclaimed medical drama. For comparison, the previous season debut scored a 1.0 rating and 6.3 million total viewers. Last night’s premiere had “Dancing With the Stars” as a lead-in, which ticked down from last week to a 0.7 rating and 5.3 million total viewers. It must be said that “Good Doctor” is far from the first scripted series to premiere to lower numbers than usual over the last couple weeks. Linear TV viewership has fallen during the pandemic, and ABC will hope “Good Doctor” continues its strong performances in delayed and digital viewing.

“This Is Us” returned for its fifth season on Tuesday night, but failed to score the kind of ratings figures it has in the past.

On the plus side, “This Is Us” did manage to build on its lead-in “The Voice,” which delivered a 1.0 rating and 7.4 million viewers. It’s also worth bearing in mind that TV viewership is down across the board of late, and that “This Is Us” is one of broadcast’s strongest performers in delayed and digital viewing.

“The Goldbergs” returned for season 8 on Wednesday a little later than usual due to Covid-19, and to lower ratings than usual.
One could chalk this up to declining viewing habits during the pandemic, but the ABC comedy dipped around 20% from the previous season premiere, managing a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.1 million total viewers. A highly competitive Monday night ratings race was narrowly won by ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” as “One Day at a Time” went low with its broadcast debut.
“Dancing With the Stars” came in even on last week with a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 last night, drawing around 6.1 million total viewers in the process. “Emergency Call,” the new docu-series hosted by Luke Wilson, ticked down for the second week straight to a 0.4 rating and just under 3 million total viewers.
“Big Brother” also delivered a 0.9 rating and 3.9 million viewers for CBS, which represents the same rating and a 15% audience bump from last Monday night. However, despite its strong lead-in, the broadcast debut of “One Day at a Time” could only manage a 0.3 rating and 1.3 million total viewers. The network announced back in August that it planned to air “Odaat” and “Star Trek: Discovery” for the first time to help fill its Covid-19 scripted hole.

NBC premiered its quarantine comedy “Connecting” on Thursday night, however, the show failed to connect with a big audience, at least as far as Live+Same Day ratings are concerned.
