This is the first appearance of Michael Shanks as Dr. Jackson in this series since the pilot Rising (2004). Although denied permission to go to Atlantis in the pilot, Dr. Jackson has since been able to visit Atlantis (see The Pegasus Project (2006)).
The musical score incorporates some elements from Stargate SG-1 (1997), including its theme song, most notably when Daniel Jackson arrives at Atlantis.
This episode is Daniel Jackson's only "Stargate" appearance without either Jack O'Neill, Samantha Carter, or Teal'c.
Robert Grosseteste, aka Robert Great Head, was a renowned 12th and 13th century English religious scholar and philosopher. While one may never know what Woolsey's Grosseteste quote might have been, because of Todd the Wraith's impatience, he did say this: "And if strangers come to supper they shall be served with more according as they have need."
