Ancient Mysteries: UFOs - The First Encounters (1997)
** 1/2 (out of 4)
Two decades after hosting "In Search Of...", Leonard Nimoy returned to television with this similar themed series that originally aired on A&E. The series took a look at various mysteries across the world and featured Nimoy and is excellent voice serving as narrator. Each episode would tackle a new subject and would feature any video or audio evidence that had been captured and there's also interviews with experts, witnesses and of course non-believers.
Another well-produced entry in the series with this one trying to locate the earliest examples of UFOs visiting this planet. Such examples given including ancient drawings that show various figures flying through the sky. Another example comes from Alexander the Great who claimed to have witnessed silver spaceships flying towards his men and at another point these spaceships turns a city to dust. There's even a story from 1463 Europe where flames and lights were seen flying through the skies. The most interesting aspect is the one where we talk about UFOs in the Bible and if Moses and Ezekiel witnessed and had contact with them. Also discussed are the pyramids of Egypt and how many believe it was impossible for humans to have built them. This isn't the best episode out there because I think a lot of it is pretty far-fetched and especially the stuff with the Bible. The stuff dealing with the Ten Commandments were so stretched out that I couldn't help but laugh and I found most of this stuff to be laughable. The stuff with the pyramids are the most interesting but sadly these gets the least amount of screen time.
