Based on what I can gather about her new film, At the Sea, Amy Adams needs a pair of sandals and a stiff drink. Adams is teaming up with Kornel Mundruczó and Kata Wéber – the director and writer of Pieces of a Woman and White God – for a new drama about rejuvenation and adjusting to a life you had not planned to live.
According to Deadline, At the Sea finds Adams’s Laura returning to her family at their holiday beach house after a long rehabilitation. Once there, Laura must readjust to her new lot in life, still haunted by aspects she tried to leave behind. Staring down the barrel of a new chapter of her life, Laura must cope without her fame, fortune, and, of all things, her identity.
Adams, a six-time Academy Award-nominated actress, recently wrapped production on the sci-fi drama Klara and the Sun, which Taika Waititi directs.

Exclusive: In a rare foray into TV, six-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams is attached to headline and executive produce The Holdout, a legal thriller drama written by Oscar winner Graham Moore (The Imitation Game) based on his novel of the same name. The limited series project, from Adams’ Bond Group Entertainment, Yellowjackets executive producer Drew Comins’ Creative Engine Entertainment and Fifth Season, recently hit the marketplace and has attracted multiple offers, Deadline has learned.
A legal drama–meets–murder investigation in the vein of The Night Of with a dual-timeline mystery, The Holdout is set in Los Angeles and follows a woman (Adams) who finds herself playing multiple roles – juror, attorney, investigator, and suspect.
Ten years after Maya Seale turns the tide in a hugely controversial verdict, a fellow juror is found dead in her hotel room, all evidence points to her. Now, she must prove her own innocence – by...

Welcome to Hawthorne.
Producer Adam McKay is serving up a sinister take on generational wealth in “The Menu.” Following Oscar-nominated “Don’t Look Up,” the mega-producer mocks the elite culinary world with the dark comedy “The Menu,” starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult as Margot and Tyler, a wealthy young couple who feast on surprising delicacies curated by a famed chef, played by Ralph Fiennes, on a remote island.
“Succession” director and executive producer Mark Mylod helms the film, which is set to be released in theaters November 18 from Searchlight Pictures, positioning “The Menu” with a prime seat at the 2023 awards season table.
The trailer shows Fiennes introducing the menu, explaining to his guests that over the course of a few hours, diners will “ingest fat, salt, protein, and at times, entire ecosystems.” The rich really do consume all.
While Tyler cries at the beauty of the delicacies, Margot is skeptical...

What’s on the menu for Adam McKay’s next dark comedy?
Following Oscar-nominated “Don’t Look Up,” mega-producer McKay turns his attention to the elite culinary world with “The Menu,” from “Succession” director and executive producer Mark Mylod. The film is set to be released in theaters November 18 from Searchlight Pictures, setting “The Menu” up for a potential Oscar play.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult star as a young couple who visit an exclusive restaurant on a remote island to indulge in a lavish tasting menu, prepared by a famed chef (Ralph Fiennes). Yet their appetites are satisfied with some unusual ingredients and shocking surprises. While the full plot of the darkly comedic psychological thriller remains under wraps, there are no doubt enough meaty twists and turns to go around.
Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, Reed Birney, Paul Adelstein, Aimee Carrero, Arturo Castro, Mark St. Cyr, Rob Yang, and John Leguizamo also star.

Adam McKay’s Hyperobject Industries has signed a first-look, multiyear feature film deal with Apple, an individual with knowledge of the contract told TheWrap.
McKay’s Hyperobject Industries team includes his longtime producer Kevin Messick and producers Betsy Koch and Todd Schulman. Though the production company has a wide range of features, series, podcasts and documentaries, the deal with Apple is for scripted feature films.
McKay’s team joins Apple’s other recent overall or first-look signings, including Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way co-run by Jennifer Davisson, Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures, Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions, A24, Imagine Entertainment and Skydance Animation.
McKay’s next feature is “Don’t Look Up” for Netflix, a comedy about two low-level astronomers who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy Earth. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence and DiCaprio.

With viewership from 82 million member households in its first 28 days online, Netflix is hailing “Bridgerton” as its biggest-ever debut for an original series on the streaming service, Variety has learned.
In her first interview since being elevated to Netflix’s head of drama development last fall, Jinny Howe — the exec who nurtured the Shondaland series — discussed the cheeky, steamy period romance as well as several other dramas Netflix currently has in the works.
Much like a coupling in an epic romance, Howe’s pairing with “Bridgerton” seemed meant to be. Around the same time that Howe joined Netflix in early 2018 to oversee serialized character dramas, Shondaland had already set its sights on adapting the Julia Quinn novels as its first project under Shonda Rhimes’ overall deal with the streamer, with Chris Van Dusen as showrunner. And it just so happened that when Netflix had asked Howe, in an interview, what...

“Vox” senior reporter Anna North’s latest novel, “Outlawed,” which was published a couple of weeks ago and is already a New York Times bestseller, has been picked up by A24 and Amy Adams’ Bond Group Entertainment team for a television adaptation.
Adams and her manager Stacy O’Neil will executive produce, and Kate Clifford will co-produce for Bond Group Entertainment.
The alternative, inclusive, feminist spin on the traditionally white, hetero, masculine Western genre has been met with effusive critical acclaim since its debut on Jan. 5.
