With the countdown to the wedding being featured on television, Rob finds it even more important to have a suitable 'plus one.' Abby, the sister of his brother's girl-friend, might be spoilt and selfish, but she is in a West End stage show, so Rob can endure dressing up as a giant panda to accompany her to a 'bad taste'fancy dress party. Now it is not a particularly good idea to drive whilst wearing a panda costume as he will discover, trapped by the air-bag and being accused of racism by the attendant paramedics. Another 'plus one' seems to have eluded him. No wonder Duncan is writing very rude songs about him.

Through work colleague Laura, who produces graphics for album covers, Rob sits in on a photo shoot with model and would-be singer Aimee, lying to her that he is friendly with top recording artists. He takes her to a bar, hoping she will be his 'plus one' but they meet pop singer Jamelia whom Rob claims to know. She colludes with his claim but maliciously adds that he is a champion break-dancer and goads him into performing. The resultant disaster leads to his humiliation yet again - Aimee will not be his 'plus one', but it does bring him closer to Laura, about whom he has had a bizarre fantasy dream involving a bar of chocolate.
