‘The Boys’ and ‘Supernatural’ star, Jensen Ackles, has been tapped to lead the Amazon thriller series from Derek Haas, ‘Countdown.’
The 13-episode series follows a suspicious murder in broad daylight, which leads to LAPD officer Mark Meachum (Ackles) being recruited to join a secret task force of undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement to investigate. But as the truth of a more sinister plot comes into focus, the team must overcome their conflicting personal agendas to unite and save a city of millions.

Haas, who has created the series, will serve as executive producer and showrunner. The series was created as a starring vehicle for Ackles.
“I had an incredible experience working with the Prime Video team on ‘The Boys’ and am delighted to be able to continue that relationship on Countdown,” said Ackles.

Jensen Ackles is set to lead a new action-thriller series at Amazon Prime Video from “One Chicago” alum Derek Haas, Variety has learned.
Titled “Countdown,” the official logline states the show begins “following a suspicious murder in broad daylight, which leads to LAPD officer Mark Meachum (Ackles) being recruited to join a secret task force of undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement to investigate. But as the truth of a more sinister plot comes into focus, the team must overcome their conflicting personal agendas to unite and save a city of millions.”
Amazon has given the show a 13-episode order. Haas created the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Ackles and his wife Daneel’s production company, Chaos Machine, is currently under a first-look deal at Amazon MGM studios, while Haas is now under an overall deal at the studio.

The upcoming second season of Prime Video's Gen V has added its first new cast member, with Legion and Midnight Mass alum Hamish Linklater set to join the ensemble as the new dean of Godolkin University, Cipher.
It sounds like this character was created for the show (though he could end up having a comic book counterpart), and is described as “the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”
The previous dean, Shelley Conn's Indira Shetty, came to a messy end in season 1 when Cate Dunlap's Maddie Phillips used her mind control powers to force the duplicitous villain to slit her own throat.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has previously confirmed that the Gen V finale will directly tie-in to the events of The Boys season 4.

Eric Kripke had originally said that he envisioned The Boys lasting “five seasons total,” but the Prime Video series was renewed for a fifth season last month, with no indication it would be the last. Plans obviously change, and while Kripke may not know when The Boys will conclude, he does have an ending in mind for when that day comes.
“You can’t build a show that’s about these two forces of Homelander and Butcher slowly closing in on each other without bringing that to a head,” Kripke told Empire. “Whenever that last episode occurs, I know what happens.” The Boys has been a big success for Prime Video, turning into a full-on franchise with various spin-offs, including Gen V, The Boys: Diabolical, and the upcoming The Boys: Mexico. As the franchise expands, Kripke says he knows how important it is “that we don’t f***ing sell out.

Hamish Linklater has joined Season 2 of “Gen V” at Amazon Prime Video, Variety has learned.
Linklater will play the character Cipher, described as “the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”
The series, a spinoff of the popular Prime Video series “The Boys,” follows the students of Godolkin University as they train to become superheroes.
Linklater joins a cast that already includes Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann. Chance Perdomo had also starred in Season 1, but the actor died in a motorcyle accident in March. The producers of the series have stated his role will not be recast.

"The Boys" season 4 will soon be upon us, but we'd be remiss to forget the spin-off series "Gen V." I was skeptical about the college-set superhero show, but it proved to have the same audacious spirit as its parent program ("Gen V" has pluckier leads too).
One of the most memorable "Gen V" scenes is the "puppet massacre" in episode 5, "Welcome to the Monster Club." Sam Riordan (Asa Germann), a super-strong teenager who's been locked in a lab, goes berserk and tears some attacking soldiers apart. But due to his loose grip on reality, he imagines himself and the others as Muppets, leading to a scene where Sam disembowels men but we only see puppet blood and bones. "The Boys" and "Gen V" are not shy about violence, so this altered reality has nothing to do with censorship. Rather, it explores Sam's character and his childish outlook on violence he...

As a showrunner, Eric Kripke definitely knows his craft. The mastermind behind Supernatural, The Boys, and Gen V has quite a portfolio of successful shows and a great reputation in the industry.
Fans love him and enjoy his insights… Except for when he’s totally, unbelievably wrong about the same thing in the same way for the second time in a row. That happens even to the best of us, but still.
Eric Kripke Is Lowkey Obsessed with Season 5’s
Back in the day when Kripke was just starting his colossal work on Supernatural, he revealed that he planned to make five seasons of the show. We all know how that worked out — but admittedly, the showrunner hasn’t learned much since then. As he started The Boys, he… Did the same thing again, promising a five-season TV show.

DC Studios has cast Superman and Supergirl, leaving us to wonder who's next. Lanterns appears to be taking shape, while Booster Gold is also said to be close to starting production (rumour has it the title character has secretly been cast).
While we strongly recommend taking the following with a pinch of salt given the source, Film Front claims to have learned who the three frontrunners are to play the Dcu's Booster Gold.
Bigger stories than this have been broken by smaller outlets in the past, and that's why we're not completely dismissing the story!
According to the site, Dylan Playfair, Fionn Whitehead, and Patrick Schwarzenegger are all screen-testing for the role of Booster. It's unclear which of them has potentially been cast or even whether any of them are still in the running.

Back in March, we got the tragic news that 27-year-old Gen V actor Chance Perdomo has passed away after a motorcycle accident.
Perdomo had been a major part of The Boys spin-off series, and his character, Andre Anderson, was going to feature heavily in the planned second season.
Showrunner Eric Kripke and the show's producers recently put out a joint statement confirming that another actor would not be brought in to play Andre, and the season would instead be "re-crafted" to pay tribute to Perdomo.
"As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory. We won't be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to re-craft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the latest member of the "Supernatural" cast to join showrunner Eric Kripke's most recent creation: the filthy, irreverent superhero satire series "The Boys." Morgan played John Winchester, father of the demon-hunting Winchester brothers (Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki) in "Supernatural," and in "The Boys" season 4 he'll be introduced as CIA analyst Joe Kessler. There's a possibility he could even be reunited with his on-screen son, since Ackles also joined the world of "The Boys" last season as a very special boy: Soldier Boy.
This was Ackles' first time suiting up on camera as a superhero, which is actually pretty surprising given that his 15-season tenure on "Supernatural" saw him in a variety of disguises. Soldier Boy is currently taking a cryogenic nap, but after season 3 ended, Kripke told Entertainment Weekly, "I can't imagine the series ending without Soldier Boy making another appearance." ‘The Boys: Mexico’: Showrunner Eric Kripke Says Gael García Bernal’s Spinoff Is Still “A While Away”
“The Boys” already had one successful spinoff with last year’s “Gen V,” so when will the next one show up? But based on what showrunner Eric Kripke says about the series, it’ll be worth the wait.

It was announced last year that a new spin-off of The Boys was in development from Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, with Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal set to executive produce. Dubbed The Boys: Mexico, the series is set to join the ever-growing superhero franchise, but before you start getting too excited, we’re still a long way off from seeing it on our screens.
The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke spoke with Entertainment Weekly to give an update on the spin-off series. “They are still making the deal with the writer for the pilot,” Kripke said. “He has an amazing pitch, and we all giggle and think about how fun it would be. But there are a lot of hurdles for that show before it’s a real show. He’s got to write an amazing pilot, he’s probably got to write an amazing episode 2. I think he can and he will,...

The “Silk: Spider Society” live-action series has been scrapped at Amazon.
The show was originally greenlit in November 2022 in a deal with Sony Pictures Television to develop a suite of shows based on Marvel characters that Sony controls. It was meant to debut on the MGM+ linear channel domestically before a global launch on Prime Video.
“The Walking Dead” alum Angela Kang was onboard as executive producer and showrunner, with Kang also signing a multi-year overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios in the process. Kang will continue under that deal. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal were also executive producers on the series. Sony Pictures Entertainment has seen operating income fall nearly 10% for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2024.
The company’s operating income was $808M in dollar terms compared with $894M for the comparable period a year before, which was down 9.6%. Revenues crept up to $10.31B from $10.14B for Fy.
Sony, which is headquartered in Japan, said the Hollywood strikes had impacted its Pictures segment, which comprises TV production, motion pictures and media networks (including streaming).

On the motion pictures side, full-year revenues were $3.74B, up slightly on the previous year, but TV fell from nearly $4B to just over $3.8B. However, media networks grew from $2.69B to $2.72B.

We've had one trailer already for the fourth season of wild superhero satire The Boys, but with the launch a little more than a month away, the latest look at the show's return is on hand to make sure we don't forget how much blood is in a human body. Because, as per usual, there is plenty of human claret on display in the latest promo for the series…
In Season 4, Claudia Doumit's Victoria Neuman is creeping ever closer than ever to the Oval Office, but the real power behind the (potential) throne is Homelander (Anthony Starr), who has his eyes on yet more control as his own popularity surges despite his crimes. Oh, and he's not above unleashing the rest of The Seven as a set of wrathful gods enforcing his twisted vision for the nation (and the world).

When it debuted last year, “Gen V” seemingly continued the strong success of “The Boys” franchise on Prime Video. The series quickly was given a Season 2 pickup and everything seemed to be coming up roses for the cast and crew. That all changed tragically, when news broke of actor Chance Perdomo’s death just a couple of months ago. Now, the series has to commence filming on Season 2 with a lot more questions than the producers anticipated.

The loss of actor Chance Perdomo in March from a motorcycle accident was devastating to fans. Such a young talent Perdomo was, the impact of his death was felt throughout the industry. It, too, brought up the question of what would become of his character on The Boys spin-off Gen V. Now, a decision has been made over Perdomo and Gen V, and it’s probably just what fans were expecting and hoping.
Producers posted the following statement on the official Gen V Instagram: “As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory. We won’t be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to refract our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. In March, we were sad to report that former Sabrina and Gen V star Chance Perdomo (27) died in a motorcycle incident in which he was the sole person involved. No detailed information has been revealed, but it is suspected that the accident occurred while Perdomo was traveling to Toronto to start filming Season 2 of Gen V. Of course, the actor’s death was a tragedy, and the whole entertainment industry was shocked, with the production of Gen V being immediately halted and postponed indefinitely.
Amazon and the people involved with the series first had to mourn Perdomo’s death, as the loss certainly struck all those involved very hard. After that, they had yet another complex task, as they had to figure out what to do with Andre Anderson, who was one of the most important characters in the series.

Weeks before his death on March 30, the star of “The Boys” spin-off “Gen V” Chance Perdomo revealed the role on “The Boys” that he auditioned for — and failed to snag. While speaking on actor Michael Rosebaum’s podcast “Inside Of You,” Perdomo said, “I auditioned for Huey on ‘The Boys,’ and I don’t think I got close. But I remember reading it and being like, ‘I absolutely love everything about this.'”
Earlier in the interview, Perdomo said that he’d also auditioned for the role of Jughead Jones on “Riverdale” — a role that ultimately went to Cole Sprouse. “I didn’t get that, but I was close,” he said. “It was one of my first auditions. I think it was between me and three other people, or three or five.”
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa remembered his audition, however, and “wrote [his ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ character] Ambrose with me in mind.

The news of actor Chance Perdomo's death came as a horrible shock when it was first reported several weeks ago. Perdomo was just 27 years old when he was killed in a motorcycle crash. A rising star thanks to his standout performances in "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and "The Boys" spinoff "Gen V," Perdomo was reportedly returning to Toronto for the first "Gen V" season 2 table read when the accident occurred. Production was immediately put on hold to give the cast and creative team time to process the tragedy and decide how best to handle it within the show.
Now, the producers of "Gen V" have released a statement on social media confirming that Perdomo's character, Andre Anderson, will not be recast in season 2:

Possible spoilers for "The Boys" follow.
We now have a new trailer for season 4 of bloody superhero satire "The Boys," and it looks like a full-blown supe-pocalypse is boiling. After the end of "The Boys" season 3, when Homelander (Antony Starr) killed a protestor in front of a crowd and got only cheers, he's no longer content with being a mere celebrity. No, he's reshaping the Seven into "wrathful gods." He's also Congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), a head-popping supe and Vice Presidential candidate, in his pocket.
Fans of "The Boys" comics (by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson) might see where this is all going. In "The Boys" volume 11 (issues #60-65), "Over the Hill with the Swords of a Thousand Men," Homelander launches a coup against the U.S. government and the Boys go to war to overthrow him. Without spoiling all the twists in between, issue #65 concludes with team leader Billy...

The official trailer for "The Boys" season 4 just dropped, and it looks like some of the antiheroes in Prime Video's hit series are having a bit of an identity crisis. "Violence isn't brave," Jack Quaid's Hughie says at one point, noting that the titular kill squad should probably stop killing everyone if they actually want to save the world. Of course, in typical "The Boys" fashion, that nice sentiment is surrounded on all sides by violence: rooms full of dead bodies, a leg getting sawed off, and a guy going splat against a building, among other (gross) things.
That last kill will surely be of interest to fans of the series, as it's committed by Butcher's own stepson, Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), who's now under the tutelage of his biological dad, weirdo supervillain Homelander (Antony Starr). After he seemingly explodes a guy against a building, Ryan is rewarded with...

The official trailer for The Boys season four is here.
Stars of the Emmy-winning show, including Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Chace Crawford, Karen Fukuhara and Claudia Doumit, revealed the explosive trailer at an inaugural Ccxp fan convention in Mexico. A previous teaser for the series premiered at Ccxp in Brazil in December.
“I look back on my life, and all I see are the messes I’ve made,” Karl Urban’s Butcher says at the start of the nearly three-minute look at the fourth season of The Boys. “And I ain’t got time to fix it. I can do one thing right with the time I’ve got left, but I can’t do it alone. I can’t do it without you,” he tells his team.

When Amazon’s “The Boys” debuts its fourth season next month, things are shaping up to be crazier than the time they blew up a whale and that other time they blew up a giant penis, as it seems Butcher (Karl Urban) and Homelander (Antony Starr) are ready to burn their whole lives down — and take everyone else with them.
In “The Boys” Season 4 trailer, Butcher reveals to Hughie (Jack Quaid), Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and the rest of the Boys that time is running out for him, and with the few numbered days he and his weakened heart have left, he’s looking to unleash a deadly virus on the supe community. To get the job done, Butcher has teamed up with new character, played by “Supernatural” alum Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who seems to want supes wiped out entirely as soon as possible to save humanity.

The Boys are heading to Ccxp Mexico this weekend (where we might finally get a new trailer), and Prime Video has debuted some new season 4 key art featuring Billy Butcher and the gang crashing Homelander's party.
As we know, the psychotic leader of The Seven will be joining Victoria Neuman on the Presidential campaign trail, and almost certainly has designs on the Oval Office himself.
Butcher doesn't have long to live following his diagnosis in the season 3 finale, but you can bet your ass he'll be using what time he has left to make Homelander's life as difficult as possible.

Heroes creator Tim Kring is rebooting the sci-fi drama series into a new show titled Heroes: Eclipse

Heroes creator Tim Kring made the mission sound so easy in 2006, but as we all know, things are more complex when people with supernatural abilities start running amok. Thankfully, we’re getting another chance at winning the day because Tim Kring is rebooting Heroes for a second encore with Heroes: Eclipse.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, “Heroes: Eclipsed is set years after the events of the original series as new evos are being awakened and discovering powers that will change their lives. Featuring familiar villains and new enemies who once again will be attempting to suppress this next step in human evolution, it will be up to this new group of heroes to save the world.”

Kiernan Shipka has paid tribute to her “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” co-star Chance Perdomo, who died at the age of 27 following a motorcycle accident.
“Chancey Pants. Oh man this hurts,” Shipka wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. “He was a one of a kind soul. Just the most fiery, creative, loving, connected, and caring force you could possibly imagine…”
She continued, “As playful as he was kind. As loving as he was hilarious. He never failed to make me laugh and he never failed to keep me on my toes (or off of them if he was giving me a piggyback ride to my trailer which he often did. Thanks Chance.)”
Perdomo played Ambrose Spellman, the warlock cousin of Shipka’s character Sabrina, for four seasons from 2018 to 2020.
Shipka concluded her tribute to Perdomo by writing: “His humanity was a generous gift to me and to so many people. Really hard...
