Maid (2021)

Series

1st Season

Episode Four - Caxemira

What a fear that she would still go back to him and something worse would happen.

I love the editing of this series, they show on screen her money decreasing, as she swipes on Tinder the guys appear in front of her.

Tip of the Day: If someone owes you money, kidnap their dog and in addition to paying you what they owe you, they will also pay you more and you can call your crush to flirt at that person's house.

How tense the scene of her eating everything, using everything in the house and then calling the guy, how afraid the woman will arrive and catch him in the act.

Episode four of the first season of the Maid Miniseries watched on May 22, 2024.

Rating: 9/10.

Warning: Spoilers
After the unfortunate events of episode 3, we can see that Alex's good luck finally comes to light.

The part when she starts to have this deep conversation with her tinder date was amazing. The way alex remembered for a second and even lived what she had aspired to be before giving birth to alex . How she enjoyed the conversation with a guy who is achieving his dreams of studying film ( i think).

But the interesting part is that i didn't see the looks of disappointment and regret on her face. It's like it was okay to her pretending ( for several minutes only) to be the character the she once wanted to become. This has got me thinking about the personality of alex and how the existence of it is a bit unrealistic considering the time we live in and the environmental factors that affects her.

The rest of the episode is normal.

I actually enjoyed the events of this episode and i think that the pacing of an episode can change according to the events that happen in it.

I.

Alex goes on tinder Regina drinks Alex writes

At first, I thought it was a bit of a filler episode with Alex just cleaning houses and bunch of pop music as background. First half of the episode was definitely like that and then I thought it was Alex hooking up. But the latter half showcased the similarities between Regina and Alex, despite how different they seem to appear. Regina also struggles with love (incoming divorce) just like Alex has a complicated relationship with Sean (maybe not too complicated at this point). Both women put great effort into their child and their motherhood. Regina spending time and money to be pregnant and Alex doing everything she can to keep the boat afloat. I loved Anika Noni Rose as Regina and I think she did a fantastic job this episode. That few minutes of monologue was one of the most touching moments in this series so far that left many lingering feelings.

Also wanted to comment on Alex's use of writing / imagining as a tool to escape. She actively uses imagination both negatively (people saying things to her that didn't actually get said) and positively (the life she could have or the past memories). Alex realizing the differences and similarities between Regina and her fueled her to write like she used to in this episode. It's the classic message of "Money doesn't solve everything". I don't particularly want to see this idea more developed in the coming episodes because it's an idea that's been explored many times. But it does look the show is heading toward that way - more focus on the single mom over the idea of domestic abuse. But so far, a strong series!

Made me think and cry. Such a deep episode about life and happiness. Money doesn't bring happiness. Show is growing on me and my wife.

A very touching episode. Especially the final part with the offscreen text. Indeed, why do we need money if happiness and love cannot be bought for them? Then you need a big house if you live in it alone?

The creators of the show are definitely very sensitive people ...
