So Neighbours ploughs into its finale with what's actually a fairly low key episode and extremely light on regulars. There's some nice tension in the Toadie/Callum plot line, as the Department choose exactly the wrong time to make a surprise visit.Toadie's decision to be honest is probably a good thing, he could have done with doing it a bit sooner and being a bit more honest.(Explaining Callum didn't know about the visit for instance.)Shame he seems to blame Callum's disappearance on himself for telling him off, rather than Kelly for stopping him going after him.
We also get the debut of Simon and Tegan, presumably the people that Donna's been hanging up on for the last few episodes.Elle's handling of them is astute but may cause tension.
And there's the cliffhanger. Some nice banter among the regulars, particularly when Donna realises how the boat's been sabotaged. Andrew's decision to put Bridget on the boat where everyone's about to die is a bit curious, as is the sudden appearance of a non-speaking, unnamed classmate to make up the numbers. It's a pleasant surprise that apparent cannon fodder Justin and Kyle actually make it to dry land, leaving the regulars and possibly the stunt man in trouble.Although the final moments of everyone standing on the bank and calling their names to thin air is unintentionally amusing.Yeah, like that's gonna achieve anything.
