Very much distinct from the insanity that is Uwe Boll‘s 2009 horror show “Rampage,” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson‘s newest starring vehicle, “Rampage,” has just dropped its first trailer. From director Brad Peyton (“San Andreas“), “Rampage” is based on an arcade game from the ’80s that I imagine is fairly obscure, given that I had never before heard of any such arcade game.

There are many gems buried in Vanity Fair’s fantastically intimate and appropriately bizarre profile of newly retired director Uwe Boll — please, do check it out here when you’ve got the time it requires — but few are as eye-popping as the dual revelation (unearthed by an eagle-eyed Vulture) that Boll a) once lived in Jennifer Lawrence’s childhood home and b) read her diaries while sleeping in her bedroom. Cool.
As Vulture reminds us, “though Lawrence was partially raised in Kentucky, she landed her first TV role at 16 and convinced her parents to move to L.A. during her teenage years, so it’s ostensibly possible her childhood belongings are tucked away on some bookshelf in L.A. somewhere.” And, apparently, that’s precisely where Boll lived during some of his La years — as the article details, he now lives in Vancouver, where he runs a restaurant and bemoans...

No, but Netflix can. Our streaming overlords buy themselves some Orson Welles.
Movies need money. They can win hearts, minds and lay the ground for thousands of little websites like this one to talk about them, but ultimately they need someone with bags of cash behind the scenes. Netflix, proud owner of one thousand hours of original content among other things, just dumped some of their cash bags on a movie called The Other Side of the Wind. It was filmed by Orson Welles in the early ’70s, stared Susan Strasberg, John Huston and Peter Bogdanovich, and was never fully edited or released to a general audience.
Welles’ movie had been initially funded by a mysterious Spanish producer (rumored to be Andrés Vicente Gómez) who, in turn, embezzled the money. It was then funded by Mehdi Bushehri, brother of the Iranian Shah, whose assets were seized after the Shah was overthrown in the Iranian Revolution. Then...

If you're familiar with Uwe Boll then you know he's a filmmaker who has made a lot of notoriously bad films in his career. He's mostly known for his terrible video game adaptations. Some of the films that he's made include House of the Dead, Bloodrayne, Far Cry, Rampage, Assault on Wall Street, and In the Name of the King.
Well, for those of you who enjoyed trashing the director and his films, you'll be happy to know that he's announced his retirement. While speaking with Metro, Boll explained that he can no longer afford to make the movies that he wants to make.
“The market is dead, you don’t make any money anymore on movies because the DVD and Blu-ray market worldwide has dropped 80 per cent in the last three years. That is the real reason; I just cannot afford to make movies.“I can’t go back...

Director Uwe Boll is best known for his many poorly-received video game film adaptations — “House of the Dead,” “Alone in the Dark,” “BloodRayne” etc. — as well as the numerous negative reviews he has received over the years. But now, Boll confirms that he has retired from filmmaking and his latest film “Rampage: President Down,” the third film in his “Rampage” series, will be his last. In an interview with Metro Toronto, Boll cites market failures and an inability to make a profit as his primary reasons.

Tagline: "This Bill will not be Vetoed." This film fan was a little surprised to see that director Uwe Boll has completed another film. His latest and possibly last film is called Rampage: President Down. This film, is of course, the final in a trilogy, which began with Rampage (2009). A sequel to this first film was released in 2014 as Rampage: Capital Punishment. In a recent interview, Boll has stated that this will be his last film, with Boll transitioning from directing into distribution (Influx Mag'). A preview for Rampage: President Down is hosted here. This third film again focuses on Bill Williamson (Brendan Fletcher). After successfully stealing thousands of dollars from a bank in his hometown, Bill has made his agenda known, through a news station. Now, he is set on killing the President of the United States! Can the Secret Service and other governmental forces stop this violent man?...

Uwe Boll, one of cinema's most provocative filmmakers, for all the right and wrong reasons you can think of, is bringing his Rampage series to a close with President Down. The final chapter of the controversial series is available today on VOD and DVD in the U.S. Bill Williamson (Brendan Fletcher) is back in the final chapter of the Rampage trilogy. In the series' previous installment, he stated that we needed to “kill the rich and rip Washington apart” - and that's exactly what he's doing now doing. After assassinating the President of the United States, Williamson ignites the largest manhunt in American history. This act of domestic terrorism will change the country forever. We have an exclusive and explosive clip to share...

Postal Redux, a remastered version of Postal released in 1997 launches on PC on May 20, developer Running With Scissors has announced. The original – a 3D isometric shooter – sparked controversy 19 years ago for its violence and gore and centred around a player character who “goes postal” after being evicted from his home and embarks on a killing spree. Fun fact: the game is the inspiration for Uwe Boll’s film of the same name – considered to be one of the worst ever made.
Besides the high-definition treatment being given to the remaster, Running With Scissors says that this spruced up version will feature a new score-attack mode called Rampage, which aims to give players more replay value.
With the new powerful addition of Rampage, Postal fans will go wild. The outrageous single-player game play mode rewards an aggressive style of play by increasing a multiplier for each consecutive kill in a streak.

Uwe Boll may yet reverse his decision to retirement from filmmaking - but only if you support his new film, Rampage 3.
Update
Just a quick update on this. We've been contacted by Gary Otto, the associate producer of Uwe Boll's Rampage 3, and the writer of the in-development project, 12 Hours.
He's pointed out a correction to us, which we're happy to make.
He told us that "Boll's retirement really depends on fans showing their support by buying or not buying Rampage 3. If Rampage 3 can actually make a profit, the film I wrote 12 Hours would be made and Uwe might not retire. If it does not break a profit it is indeed the end. None of the films have made a profit in a long time so he is predicting the end, realistically, but if people actually buy upon its initial release, brand new and not used, then...

Dwayne Johnson doesn't show any signs of slowing down and is now entering the gaming world again. He will be, hopefully, making the adaptation of Rampage. If you don't remember, that's an arcade game from the 80's that lived through the early 2000's! Come check out the details!
Yep, this isn't another Rampage from Uwe Boll, thankfully, but instead an adaptation of the beloved arcade classic by the same name.
Deadline is reporting the movie already has a script by Ryan Engle (Non-Stop), Beau Flynn (San Andreas) and Johnson are producing with Dany Garcia and John Rickard. The film is expected to start filming next summer (2016) shortly after Dwayne Johnson finishes filming Fast and Furious 8.
So far things are being kept quiet, but we can tell you about the game since we loved it! The game focuses on 3 people that get mutated into monsters. A warewolf, a gorilla, and...

German director Uwe Boll is famous for various things, mostly churning out terrible movies. Ten years ago his films somehow went theatrical - "Alone in the Dark," "House of the Dead," "Bloodrayne," etc.
Since then he's been mostly doing direct to video fare from "the "In the Name of the King" sequels to the revenge piece "Rampage" and its sequel "Rampage: Capital Punishment". Recently Boll took to crowdfunding to try and score $55,000 in additional funding to produce "Rampage 3".
With only a few days left to go though, he hasn't reached half his goal and he's upset about it - to the point that he's delivered a video diatribe slamming crowdfunding in general as well as other targets like Marvel movies before declaring "f--- you all" and saying "I have enough money to play golf for 'til I'm dead".

It's possible that you didn't know Uwe Boll had directed Rampage and Rampage 2. But if you were a fan of those films and on tenterhooks for Rampage 3, we're afraid we have disappointing news. The crowdfunding campaigns have not pulled in sufficient cash to allow the film to go ahead. Boll has now released a video telling us what he thinks about this.Unusually for Boll the Rampage films aren't based on videogames (so no, they're not about monsters smashing buildings). Instead, they're sort of Falling Down-meets-Natural Born Killers affairs, in which Brendan Fletcher decides he's mad as hell and isn't going to take it anymore, going postal in the city and, in the sequel, occupying a TV station. It's a war on Society, man.Rampage 3: No Mercy would have completed the trilogy, Fletcher and Lochlyn Munro set to reprise their roles from the previous films. It would have been,...

Since most of you have much better things to do with your weekend than listen to Uwe Boll rant and rave about how Hollywood is “laughing at us” on a daily basis, you probably missed his YouTube meltdown/bitch-fest/publicity stunt this past weekend.
Chances are you haven’t seen Rampage (a rather decent film) or its sequel, so you probably had no idea that Boll is currently crowdfunding Rampage 3: No Mercy, and after going the indiegogo route (which failed miserably), Boll fled to Kickstarter hoping that a different contributing community could keep his Damn-the-man franchise running strong. Long story short, the campaign failed yet again, and now Uwe Boll has one statement for us all: “Fuck Yourself.”

"Basically, my message is f*ck yourself." Uwe Boll has made quite a few shitty movies (House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark etc) - but, he's also made quite a few... less shitty movies (Assault On Wall Street, Rampage, Darfur) that he is clearly very proud of. That's all well and good, but Mr. Boll evidently believes these underrated masterpieces to be vastly superior to the "Marvel Avengers bullshit dirt" type stuff us "geeks and idiots" are consuming on a regular basis instead of pouring money into his Kickstarter campaign. The German director has posted the below vids to his Youtube page, and in them he vents his frustration at not managing to raise the requisite cash needed to complete what would surely be his magnum opus, Rampage 3: No Mercy. I didn't even know he made a sequel to the latter, let alone had not one but two different crowdfunding efforts to complete his violent trilogy with Rampage 3: No Mercy. Turns out I wasn't alone. Boll's most recent crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter is still several thousands dollars away from his goal with only three days left (the Indigogo one before that fell $93,675 short of its $100,000 goal) and he's not very happy about it. It took seven years, but the internet finally got Uwe Boll to quit — sort of. Turns out, all we had to do was wait for Kickstarter to be invented, and then use it to not fund Boll's latest film. The German filmmaker had been trying to Kickstart a sequel to his 2009 film Rampage, but after raising a fraction of what he was asking for, Boll released two YouTube rants swearing off crowdfunding for good. Uwe Boll is totally over it. The German director, a.k.a. The King of Trash, posted a brief but jaw-dropping tirade on YouTube over the weekend — well, multiple tirades — in which he bashes everything from Kickstarter to Marvel to Harry Potter. It’s blunt. It’s harsh. It’s extremely entertaining. Take a look. This comes after Boll, who directed movies like the two Rampage films and Postal, failed multiple times to gain funding for Rampage 3 on crowdfunding sites. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, his run on Indiegogo raised a little more than $5,000 of his $80,000 goal, while his latest Kickstarter campaign only reached approximately $25,000. Poor old Uwe Boll. He gets a hard time of it from critics and film fanatic keyboard warriors alike. Often lambasted in film press and blogs for his unique approach to films, it’s fair to say that a few of his previous works have been completely panned. However his 2009 release, Rampage, hasn’t been quite so hated by critics. In fact, some are questioning whether or not this could be his first truly good movie, and one to be critically acclaimed. There have been a few whisperings in the right circles that Rampage is actually a really good movie. The movie itself stars Brendan Fletcher as Bill Williamson, a guy so utterly bored with his everyday life that one day he decides to make a suit out of Kevlar. So far so slightly odd. But then Williamson starts stocking up on large quantities of weapons, which he uses to go on a shooting spree,...

Any time you get the chance to write about Uwe Boll, you do it. This man is one of the most interesting filmmakers out there based upon his tarnished reputation and propensity to box film journalists who enjoy tearing his career apart, but even more flabbergasting is that Boll Has seen success. Most people just don’t pay attention to that. In 2009, a film called Rampage acted as a vessel for Boll’s political satire, giving an oddly respectable voice to the usually crude creator.
Since Rampage, Boll went on to direct another string of underwhelming efforts, but a new trailer released today suggests the auteur is ready to re-visit his most successful material for another go at corruption, class warfare, and governmental gripes. Yes, Rampage: Capital Punishment brings back Brendan Fletcher as the disgruntled Bill Williamson, suiting up once again to unite the typically unheard voices for a bit of rebellious outreaching.

Latefox Pictures has completed shooting on the revenge yarn The Demolisher. And recently, several stills have been released for the film. The photos show the central character, Bruce, armoured and roaming city streets. This title was developed by Canadian director Gabriel Carrer (If a Tree Falls). As well, the film stars Ry Barrett as Bruce. Tianna Nori, Ashley Awde and Jessica Vano also star. Four stills for The Demolisher are hosted here. In the story, Bruce feels helpless after his wife is brutally attacked. He experiences paranoia and as his mental state deteriorates, he turns to violence. This film fan is reminded of Uwe Boll's Rampage (2009), by the stills. Both films deal with uber-violent vigilantes who attack others randomly. Though, motivations (revenge, political) are different between Rampage and Carrer's The Demolisher. More details and stills are hosted below, with a trailer sure to come this way shortly. This film fan is a little surprised to see that director Uwe Boll will follow-up the 2009 action thriller Rampage (2009) with a sequel. The next film in the series is called Rampage: Capital Punishment. And, this sequel reunites eccentric director Boll with Canadian actor Brendan Fletcher. Together, these two will release chaos onscreen later this summer. Central character Bill (Fletcher) is again at the center of the film. This character is still interested in fighting against the powers-that-be, with violence and rhetoric. This time, Bill takes over a television station, in Washington, D.C., with the intent of waking up the masses. And, if anyone gets in his way, then they will face the cold steel of a bullet. A trailer for Rampage: Capital Punishment was released earlier this year (January, 2014). Since then, the official DVD artwork for the film has been released (above). Every now and again I’ll scour the shelves of my local supermarket looking for an interesting straight to DVD release that might catch my eye. Usually I don;t have much luck, however this past week there was not one but two Dtv flicks that caught my eye, including this, 13 Eerie.
The film follows six ambitious forensic undergrads who travel to a remote island – the location of an abandoned prison (13 Eerie Strait Penitentiary) previously used as a biological test site – vying for a position in the FBI. The zombie convicts that now inhabit the island begin to hunt the students down and what started as a fight for an esteemed FBI career is now a fight for their very lives…
So what attracted me to 13 Eerie?...

The critic-boxing director Uwe Boll is back with another “In the Name of the King” movie.
This time around, the film stars Dominic Purcell (“Prison Break”) as a modern day hit man in Bulgaria who travels back in time to save a kingdom from an evil warlord.
It also stars Ralitsa Paskaleva and Bashar Rahal.
Boll talks exclusively with Latino-Review on why he returned to this franchise that was once based off the Dungeon Siege video game series. And he also explained his passion for making political movies now, and how he kept attracting certain stars towards his projects.
“In the Name of the King 3: The Last Mission” is available On Demand, Blu-Ray and DVD today.
Read the transcript of the interview below.
Latino-Review: Could you tell me what attracted you to this script? Especially since this is one of the few movies you didn’t write.
Uwe Boll: Yeah.

A few weeks back we told you that Dr. Uwe Boll was already hard at work on a sequel to his - honestly - great film Rampage, and now, just in time for the European Film Market, we have the exclusive premiere of the film's teaser artwork along with a first look trailer.
Rampage 2 stars Rogue's Brendan Fletcher. The sequel to the original 2009 mass murder thriller was shot over six days in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Rampage 2 has Fletcher returning as a man who takes over a TV station and holds a number of hostages as a political platform to awaken humanity, instead of for money.
The feature from the prolific German director, who shoots most of his movies in Vancouver, also stars Lochlyn Munro (Tomorrowland), Mike Dopud, and Michaela Ross. Rampage 2 is produced by Natalia Tudge.

If you told me a movie about Ken Marino’s butt monster would be one of my favorite horror movies of 2013, I’d tell you, “Yeah, that sounds about right.” I mean, Ken Marino is one of the funniest character actors in Hollywood right now, I have a soft spot for practical effects driven creature features, and how are you not immediately intrigued by Ken Marino’s stinky, murderous friend? Bad Milo! charms and chills unlike any horror comedy released last year, and that’s thanks to a unique script that brings to life Marino’s subconscious in the form of an intestine-dwilling pet with a destructive mind of its own.
Bad Milo! will go down as a brilliantly worshipped cult comedy some years down the road, and there are two glaring reasons why – the most obvious being Ken Marino’s casting. You’ve seen him play supporting roles over and over again,...

Anthology film The Profane Exhibit has been in the works for some time now, but things are moving along with casting news for the wrap-around along with more detailed descriptions of the various segments and quotes from a few directors. It's a lot of good stuff so prepare to be here awhile.
From the Press Release:
The producers of “The Profane Exhibit” are excited to announce that both Tony Todd (pictured) and Bai Ling have join the long-awaited horror anthology. They will be featured in the cast of "22 Rue des Martyrs," written by Ray Garton, which serves as the film's wrap-around segment.
David Bond and Manda Manuel are the architects of what is likely the most daring independent horror film project to date, both in concept and scope. Assembling an almost surreal collection of over 100 horror icons (directors, writers, actors, musicians, etc.), Bond's vision is to present the audience with...

Escaping one's past is not an easy task, especially in the film industry. Many actors, writers and directors find themselves pigeonholed into a specific genre from which escape appears impossible. Others are stuck with moviegoers' preconceived negative expectations of their movies. For example, I've been flabbergasted by the relentless bashing of Uwe Boll (Rampage, Attack on Darfur).
Actor/filmmaker Dax Shepard is another actor/filmmaker who suffers from the same stereotyping as Boll. Despite his success in the television series Parenthood, it doesn't help that Shepard got his start as Ashton Kutcher's stooge in the MTV hidden-camera show Punk'd, along with roles in Let's Go to Prison and Without a Paddle.
Shepard received little critical acclaim for his directorial debut: the 2010 mockumentary Brother's Justice, in which he pretends to change genres from comedy to martial-arts action films. Expectations for his latest project, the road-chase movie Hit and Run -- which Shepard wrote,...

In The Name Of The King: Two Worlds
Stars: Dolph Lundgren, Lochlyn Munro, Natassia Malthe | Written by Michael Nachoff | Directed by Uwe Boll
In the Name of the King: Two Worlds stars legendary movie hard-man Dolph Lundgren as Granger, a lethal ex-forces soldier transported back in time to fulfil an ancient prophecy and defeat the threatening forces of darkness, in a mystical age where dragons scorch the skies and the only way to fight is in brutal hand-to-hand combat. But as he fights his way to the truth and to get back home Granger learns that one wrong move could cost him not only his life, but the very future of his world.
Taking over the Uwe Boll directed franchise from his Expendables co-star Jason Statham, Lundgren walks his way through this unwanted sequel to the less-than-stellar original film which was itself based on the Dungeon Siege video game series.

Long before the fowl were being slingshotted into structures, George, Lizzie and Ralph were punching buildings until they collapsed. And now, the monsters of "Rampage" are finally about to have its movie moment.
New Line snagged the rights to the super old-school game from Midway Games, which is owned by Warner Bros., in 2009, and now they're going ahead with John Rickard ("Horrible Bosses") producing.
"Rampage" first stormed its way onto screens -- small ones! with 8 bits! -- in 1986. We're talking about Atari, Ms-dos and the Sega. There is, however, a more recent iteration for the Wii, if you're feeling all 21st century about things.
The story is simple enough: three normal people are turned into hideous monsters and go on a total bender of destruction and mayhem around the city, totally effing things up from tanks to taxis and buildings. George, Lizzie and Ralph are a giant gorilla,...

There have been some pretty strange old school video games being optioned for the big screen as of late, from Asteroids to Joust to Space Invaders to Missile Command. Clearly the majority of these projects (assuming they actually get made) would be banking on nostalgia and name recognition more than story or characters. This latest announcement actually has me a little bit intrigued, however, and I daresay it has a lot more potential than those other films. According to Heat Vision, New Line has acquired the rights to the '80s Midway game Rampage, and they plan to turn it into "a smartly-budgeted monster movie in the vein and tone of Ghostbusters and Independence Day." Call me crazy, but I might actually watch that movie. Rampage started life as an arcade game that was released in 1986, but was quickly ported to just about every home console available at the time including the Nintendo Entertainment System,...

Uwe Boll and Dolph Lundgren. Together. At last. I’d be a little disappointed in Dolph if “In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds” didn’t look insanely badass. How can you possibly go wrong with a movie about a time-traveling soldier who finds himself battling dragons in mystical, fantasy-inspired universe ruled by Lochlyn Monro? Here’s hoping it’s more “Rampage” than “Bloodrayne”. Here’s the lowdown on the plot: Granger (Lundgren) is a lethal ex-Special Forces soldier who finds himself transported back to a mystical age of sorcery, dragons, and savage hand-to-hand combat. This modern-day warrior has been summoned to defeat the forces of darkness and fulfill an ancient prophecy. But as he fights his way to the truth, Granger learns no one can be trusted — and one wrong move could cost him not only his life but the future of his world. Uwe Boll’s...

*a screener of this film was provided by Phase 4 Films.
Director: Uwe Boll.
Writer: Michael Nachoff.
Bloodrayne: The Third Reich is the second sequel to a video game adaption franchise. This title is directed by the notorious Uwe Boll (Rampage), who is no stranger to the straight-to-video film market. This latest film follows Bloodrayne (2005) and Bloodrayne II: Deliverance (2007). And you might be upset to find out that Boll intends to make a fourth film in this series, based on the final scene of this latest flick *groan*.
There is an interesting element in Boll's filmmaking strategies, as another film, titled Blubberella, was filmed almost simultaneously as Bloodrayne: The Third Reich. Both films use the same characters, same actors, same sets and even the same plotline. Only the genre changes from thriller to comedy. Michelle Rodriguez has faced zombies, driven amazingly fast cars, helped save the world from an alien invasion, and tackled Machete with literally one eye open! There's not much left for her to do that could be considered pretty cool. Unless of course you set her up against evil spirits!

Sighting, from writer-director Tedi Sarafian, takes us to "King's Ransom Winery, one of the most haunted places in America, with a long history of bizarre suicides. Six ghost hunters have been given the rare opportunity to conduct a paranormal investigation. What they discover terrifies them."
