The creativity is coming out!

I love this show, I like the concept and the empowerment of women and all the not so subtle and subtle issues surrounding this. I like that its layered and not obvious. This is a typical 2nd episode of a series where we focus on character development more than big event after the first episode. Fine by me. But also, they had some great creative editing moments, good sound mix, interesting framing. That last moment was perfect. Yeah. I like this show.

Handshake in space

A solid, routine second episode, filling in some more background. Gordo's moping around like a teenager is becoming annoying and Ed is enabling him. Molly's concealed and unsung heroism on the moon begins to make her bitter and will, no doubt, come back to bite her.

Love the concept

Show is very entertaining. I really enjoy the alternate reality that impacts more than just NASA. Does make you wonder if we kept up the space if we would be further along than we are now.

For All Mankind Season 2 Episode 2, "The Bleeding Edge," is an almost entirely Earthbound hour, a bit of a strange choice given the dramatic solar storm that hit the Jamestown colony during the season premiere and that seemed to promise a more action-oriented second season. As a result, it's hard not to feel as though this episode drags - other than Molly's lies and obvious physical struggles in the wake of her radiation exposure, there's not a ton of tension or what you might call a propulsive plot here. Granted, there are multiple essential character moments, but in a sophomore outing that already feels slow-moving, it's hard not to wonder how "The Bleeding Edge" might have better spent its time. After all, the phrase "bleeding edge" generally refers to a product or service that is new, experimental, or that carries a high degree of uncertainty. Perhaps we're meant to assume that multiple people within this story are left in extremely uncertain places by its end, and that's certainly true. But it's...well, it isn't exactly what you might call exciting. But, this is a show that's always had pacing problems. Ellen orders Molly to return to Earth along with Wubbo, citing her intense radiation exposure during the solar storm. Molly, being Molly, resists, insisting that her radiation sensor - which she purposefully hid so it wouldn't register the fact that she exposed herself to save a colleague - was green and fine. Given that Molly's plan to lie about her exposure was so easily thwarted, one wonders what the point of it was. Sure, Ellen promises her that she'll be able to return to Jamestown in six months, but we all know there's little chance Molly will ever make it back to the moon, once the NASA medics find out how irradiated her body is. Especially not once it appears as though she's having health problems almost as soon as she's back on the ground.

But she's not the only astronaut that's got some adjustments to make. Ellen returns home to find that her gay husband has a new of-the-moment boyfriend, a surprise that she takes in stride and further proof that we should really get an episode dedicated to how these two have negotiated how to make their lives together work.

They show seconds of Shuttle Columbia, they mention Sea Dragon. But all we get is some atronaut drama. I'm done with this show.

Technical plot issues in space
jhns-547566 April 2024
When this series started i was surprised to see how meticulously all the technology was shown. It was all very well and correctly done. The spacecrafts looked just fine and the flight controllers did their job well and correctly.

But with each episode they brought in space flight technologies, procedures and feats that were just not possible or feasible.

For example: It was not possible for a LSAM to lift amd land so many times as were shown in the last episodes of season one. There were no fuel left and there were no fuel tanks shown outside the moonbase to fill the tanks.

And when Apollo 24 failed to ignite the engine of the S- IVB and go for TLI, it would have caused an immediate abort along the mission rules.

And now in this episode they show astronauts traveling towards Earth in a space shuttle . It is not possible to land on the moon or take off frim the surface of the Moon with a Space Shuttle. It is meant only for short distances and it requires lots of energy and fuel and needs to be launched vertically and definitely there are jo runways on the moon where it can land!

The creators of this series do not care about authenticity or technical constraints at all. And that is a big shame. Or they could at least fill the plot holes by just showing these techniques to the viewers.

That could make the series look more interesting ans convincing.

A colossal letdown!
