Pepsi Mango sounds pretty weird, and so does its new MTV companion show, “Match Me If You Can.”
The whole premise behind this latest glorified (flavored) Pepsi commercial is that Pepsi and mango make a “surprising perfect match.” The goal for the reality-star dating competition is the same thing.
At least Fox’s failed stunt “Cherries Wild” had a decent flavor attached to it.
Anyway, just watch the trailer above.
“Match Me If You Can” is produced by ViacomCBS’ in-house branded content studio, Velocity. The five-part series will bring together eight stars — Ashley Brooke Mitchell, Eric Bigger, Harry Jowsey, Onyeka Ehie, Natalie Negrotti, Kyra Green, Joey Sasso and Kylie Smith — from the reality TV universe, pairing fan favorites from different franchises together for the first time.
Pepsi Mango is the soda brand’s first new permanent flavor in five years.
Lauren Speed-Hamilton, a reality-dating competition success story, will host the series.

School may be out in summer, but not this year. “College Bowl,” the quiz show that challenged college students and aired on broadcast TV for more than a decade, is poised to make a comeback on NBC as a series starting in June.
Football great Peyton Manning will host the program, which aired on radio stations in the 1950s before moving to CBS and then NBC between 1959 and 1970, and will be assisted by his brother, Cooper Manning. In each show, teams of three representing some of the nation’s top schools must work together to answer questions on a wide variety of subjects. The top two schools advance to the final, where they compete head-to-head for the Capital One College Bowl trophy and a scholarship to put toward their education. Participating schools include University of Alabama, Auburn University, Columbia University, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, Ole Miss, Morehouse College,...

“Cherries Wild” was a wildly failed experiment. The season finale of the Fox game show, which is basically a glorified Pepsi commercial, settled for a 0.1 rating. Fox ended up finishing fifth in total-viewer averages, below Univision. CBS won Sunday, with a March Madness game occupying the first 13 minutes of primetime in the eastern time zone. Oprah Winfrey’s explosive interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drew a huge audience to CBS this Sunday evening, attracting approximately 17.18 million viewers throughout its two-hour broadcast and a 1.45 rating in the adults, aged 18-49 key demographic.
Compared with last Sunday night’s 78th Golden Globe Awards, which garnered a bleak 6.9 million viewers and a 1.5 rating among the key demo, TV watchers showed up in droves for (technically) ex-British royalty over Hollywood royalty. The sit-down in an estate’s green and flourishing patio, was anything but casual as Oprah showcased the strongest aspects of her journalistic chops and grilled the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with a slew of follow-up questions that led to surprising revelations of what went down behind the scenes in the palace’s walls, per the couple. This was CBS’s most live-streamed event outside of the NFL and Super Bowl Sunday this 2020-2021 season.

Over the last few years, Fox has built a really strong line up of game shows and they’ve recently decided to add another one to the mix. The network’s latest game show, Cherries Wild, brings all of the excitement you’d expect from a game show along with the suspense of some good ole’ fashion competition. The show combines the fun of slot machines with trivia questions which gives the viewers at home the chance to see if they have what it takes to keep up with the contestants. Although the show is still pretty new, it’s already attracted a wide

Sunday’s 78th Golden Globe Awards, the HFPA’s first-ever bicoastal and virtual show, was hosted by longtime collaborators Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who had previously hosted the event consecutively from 2013 to 2015. Not even these fan-favorite female powerhouses, however, could save the socially distanced soirée from soured ratings.
Last night’s three-hour awards broadcast drew a mere 5.4 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 according to non-time zone adjusted numbers from Nielsen. Though these early numbers are incomplete and don’t include viewing in the Pacific time zone, they paint a bleak picture for NBC, which in 2018 signed a new deal to pay roughly $60 million per year to televise the awards show. Last year, preliminary numbers were significantly higher, with the telecast averaging 14.8 million viewers and getting a 3.8 demo rating. Those numbers adjusted up to 18.3 million viewers and a 4.7 demo rating in final live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen.

Television commercials have long been one of the media industry’s surest bets — so much so that advertisers around the world dumped a whopping $149 billion on them in 2020, according to estimates from Magna, the large media-buying firm. But Pepsi recently decided to take a gamble on something else.
On Valentine’s Day, the soda giant unveiled a three-story replica of a Las Vegas jackpot machine, the centerpiece of a new game show it’s running with the Fox broadcast network. “Cherries Wild” features Jason Biggs as host, lots of trivia and a Pepsi Wild Moment that lets people at home play along for prizes. The whole show is done in Pepsi colors, says Todd Kaplan, vice president of marketing, and aims to play up Pepsi Wild Cherry, a line extension the company believes has room to grow. Fox’s glorified Wild Cherry Pepsi commercial, game show “Cherries Wild” hosted by Jason Biggs, finally debuted on Sunday. The soda-sponsored series fell pretty flat, drawing a 0.2 rating/2 share in the key demo and just 1.1 million total viewers. “Cherries Wild” was supposed to debut last Sunday, but it got pushed due to a lengthy Daytona 500 rain delay. At the top of Nielsen’s ratings sheets, ABC finished first in the key demo with “American Idol.” CBS had Sunday’s most total viewers, thanks mostly to “60 Minutes.” Also Read: The CW's Viewers Are Older Than Fox's So Far This Season - Here's Why ABC was first in ratings with a 0.8 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 5.5 million, according to preliminary numbers. “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at 7 p.m. put up a 0.8/5 and 5.2 million viewers. “American Idol” from 8 to 10 p.m.

PepsiCo is not the typical producer of entertainment content, apart from the Super Bowl halftime show, decades’ worth of commercials and the 2018 big-screen basketball comedy “Uncle Drew.” But on Sunday, the soft-drink manufacturer will break into showbiz in a whole new way with the premiere of the Jason Biggs-hosted primetime trivia game show “Cherries Wild” on Fox. Yes, that title is a very clear nod to Pepsi’s Wild Cherry flavor — but Fox promises that the 30-minute show is not going to turn out to be a 30-minute commercial for soda. Fox’s newest unscripted series, “Cherries Wild,” is, among other things, a very easy trivia show, an opportunity to watch the dial of a giant slot machine turn, and a thirty-minute-long advertorial sponsored by Pepsi. Its scripted offerings include a robust suite of animated comedies and, on the drama side, “9-1-1” and its Texas-set spinoff, both of which generate chatter the further they distance themselves from realism or even sense. And its unscripted shows — especially those rooted in music, like “The Masked Singer” and “Dancer,” “I Can See Your Voice,” and the “Name That Tune” reboot — are so committed to their bits that they achieve a sort of sublime inanity.
