Best episode of this season and maybe series

This episode made me laugh and cry multiple times. The dinner scene was incredible and the last few minutes were even better. His "me too" song made me cry laughing.

spectacular

Warning: Spoilers
This season of Dave started off a little lost but it's finally found it's groove and the balance of comedy and drama has been excellent. This episode had me consistently laughing and tearing up, often at the same time. I hope the last few episodes can keep up this quality.

Also i have a theory that we might see the making of dicky's song molly at the end of this season.

Dave is a selfish person
ronniewhitedx31 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
At the very end we see him repeat the same behavior with his best friend and with his parents. The ugly cry was for him too and his parents then have to console HIM even though they're the ones going through it. This point gets driven home in the final act where he can't quite get it together enough to release that playing that song for his ex was overall a selfish act of wanted somebody who you can't have and attacking them in a vulnerable state especially not long after their breakup. Dave sucks, however that's kinda the point.

Peaks and Valleys

Warning: Spoilers
There have been some fantastic episodes and episodes that made little sense to me, but nothing encapsulates the show quite as well as The Burds so far. Dave is clearly struggling with more than his music shortcomings and watching his parents have a bad day (of which marriage has plenty) seems to amplify the confused feelings he has for Ally, the direction of his life, and what he ultimately wants. The show has had peaks and valleys, and this episode had several in its own right. The moment between Dave and Alley in the last scene goes from extremely touching to confusing to contentious in a 5 minute span. Fantastic story arc for this episode and it was shot beautifully. A slow start to season 2 has officially ended. The last 4 episodes have been fantastic, and this takes the cake so far.

That song for ally.... I'm so in my feelings after listening to it. This episode was really great as it explored Dave's relationship with his parents and his own inability to see beyond his selfish ways. But the scene with him and Dan as he listens to the song Dave wrote for Ally...man the sound...the regret in his eyes...this was just phenomenal, nuanced acting in my opinion. I found the song on YouTube (because it's not available on Spotify) and it's just been on repeat. Anyone who's ever had a relationship end tragically can relate.

Best episode of the series

Love this show, but Dave was starting to wear on me. Starting to get on my nerves. This episode changed that. A lot of emotions in this episode. Just wanted to Dave to do something that showed a different side. This episode did just that. Also for goodness sakes can Dave get a win at some point lol.

More episodes like this, please.

Definitely one of the best of the season so far. Good exploration of Dave's selfishness. I would like more episodes like this than some of the previous ones.

Full dramedy now
trbothrowaway28 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm glad that this show has gone full dramedy. Jokes about his penis we're funny at the start of the series but the emotional depth is its staying power.

Yet again, Dave proves to be the worst human in the ensemble. Never ending selfishness. We get a glimpse of humility with his parents at dinner, but he still manages to pivot the focus to be about him, stealing the autonomy from his parents. And it gets worse with the final scene. A real emotional rollercoaster of saving-face.

Dave's parents and Allie shine in this episode. The comedic hijinks belong to Dave but the supporting characters add the heart and soul to the show. It's realistically written and so well performed, I hope they get Emmy noms.

Getting kinda predictable
Shanekennedy26993 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Loved the first season, but at this point everything that this show does is what Atlanta has done but worse. The comedic part of the comedy drama has basically taken a back seat. Sad because it's been one of the shows I keep hoping will return to its lighthearted episodes that showed so much promise but inevitabley returns to fail at drama again and again. Also playing the full Ally song twice takes out the punch of the emotional hit, no need for us to watch her listen for a minute. Love Dave, I hope it rebounds.

Super Emotional!!
haydenstems29 July 2021
Season 2 has been amazing so far, and this episode made it a contender to be much better than season 1. The last 4 episodes have been superb, and nothing had made me laugh harder than seeing Dave perform folk songs on the guitar!!

Totally ruined this show.

Warning: Spoilers
Playing a guitar and folks songs now. Makes as much sense as the rest of the season. Wow this show took such a epic dive into the dirt. What was a amazing show. Has become a totally random. Really cant believe how bad season 2 is. Ruined everything that made it a gem. Took away every good dynamic. I found myself fast forwarding thru most of it. Predictable in its randomness. I mean just no depth at all. Not one episode is written well. Or makes any sense. Definitely wasn't funny at all. I laughed and loved every episode of season 1. Didn't even smile during season 2. Beyond disappointing. Really makes me sad. Because this had so much potential. Its become more of a faux drama. Trend chasing and cash grabbing. Seems to be the new theme of the show. Nothing authentic. Really turned me off to dave. Wont be supporting or looking forward to this anymore. If you know how much of a fan I was. 8 episodes of pure trash. I Its almost like he/they want the show gone. Absolutely ZERO continuity the entire season.

P. S. I love the person who goes this was such a emotional episode. Yea when took a 5 minute scene. Printing out material. To pleasure himself on camera. There was a lot of soul there. Anything emotional is so fake. Force fed for the sake of trends. Like the 10 second scene about depression. Lol so deep ,right!

This was an emotional episode about regret, family issues and many other things that made it personal to me. Great episode and on point.
