This story about Riley Keough and “Daisy Jones & the Six” first appeared in the Limited Series/Movies issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
She walked out into the blue stage lights like she’d been there before, a gossamer cape swirling in the wind as she warily eyed the guitar player standing a few feet away. The wariness gradually melted, replaced by a gamut of emotions: playfulness, then a passion that felt driven and a joy that almost seemed desperate. She was flirtatious and seductive when sharing a microphone, but when her partner left the stage she grabbed hold of a love song and turned it into an instrument of salvation.
This all happened during the concert scenes in the final episode of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” and it added up to one thing: In the title role, Riley Keough was pretty much a rock star. In one way,...

Daniel Fienberg: It’s hard to tell the story of Spring TV in 2023 without discussing HBO’s Succession and Barry, as well as Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso. Those three shows, two definitely finished and one seemingly coming to an end, represented four of the last six Emmy wins for outstanding drama and comedy series, as well as many nominations for acting, writing and directing. With their shocking deaths, wild deviations in tone and, in the case of Ted Lasso, expanded episode running times, they’ve dominated social media and water cooler conversations since March.
That’s why we’re not going to focus on them here. There’s more to TV than Barry, Succession and Ted Lasso — or at least HBO and Apple hope there is after the upcoming awards season concludes.
Even not counting the holy trinity of the spring, there were buzzy returning shows — Fxx’s Dave!

Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones and the Six” ends with a look that says more than an entire monologue could express. After years of estrangement, former band members and creative soulmates Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) reunite to fulfill one of the last wishes of Billy’s late wife, Camila (Camila Morrone). When Billy knocks on Daisy’s front door, he greets her with a smile; she, in response, has a look of reticence that slowly melts into a grin before the series smash cuts to the final credits.
Co-creator Scott Neustadter has compared the ending to “The Graduate.” “I hate happy endings,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m really allergic to happy endings but I really love hopeful endings. To me, there was a lot of hope at the end of the book. [‘Daisy Jones’ author Taylor [Jenkins Reid] and I both have talked about this a lot and we...

From the outside, The Last Thing He Told Me seems like a surefire streaming hit. It has a widely-beloved, A-list lead in Jennifer Garner; the backing of Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine, the production company behind Daisy Jones & The Six and Tiny Beautiful Things; and rich source material in Laura Dave's mystery-thriller, which spent 65 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list in 2021 and 2022. Book adaptations have given us some of the most beloved movies and TV shows of all time, and the Amazon Prime Video series "Daisy Jones & The Six" has become just that for many of its fans. The show is based on the hit novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, which follows the titular rock band, a fictional group inspired by some of music's icons. The series released its final season one episodes on March 24, and readers will probably be surprised by how much the show has changed from the book that inspired it. The main story is still intact, following the rise and fall of Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin), Daisy Jones (Riley Keough), Camila Dunne (Camila Morrone), Graham Dunne (Will Harrison), Karen Sirko (Suki Waterhouse), and company. But there are big differences to how they get to the top, how things fall apart, and where they end up landing. Reid...

Daisy Jones & the Six is a new series airing on Amazon Prime Video. The 1970s soft rock mockumentary presents the titular band as if they were a real Fleetwood Mac-esque project. And yes, that means the series is stacked with all the nearly unbelievable romantic drama that comparison entails.
But not all of Daisy Jones is simply a retelling of the creation of an album like Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours. There’s an original story weaved around that inspiration, pulling from other famous musicians from the era. Actor Sebastian Chacon adds to the color of the series by taking his inspiration from a genre outside of rock entirely.

Jennifer Aniston has named her favourite Adam Sandler film – and the choice is rather unexpected.
The actor has reunited with the comedian for Murder Mystery 2, a sequel to their comedy that broke streaming records for Netflix in 2019.
Both actors are doing the promotional rounds for the film, which is released later this month.
As part of this, Sandler participated in an interview with The Washington Post, which featured commentary from entertainment figures to have worked with the actor since his rise to fame in the 1990s.
It was for this interview that Aniston selected the Sandler film she thinks is the best.
Recalling being unable to “keep a straight face” when watching the actor, the Friends star said: “Personally, I think You Don’t Mess With the Zohan is one of the funniest movies.”

Tickets to the band’s North American shows went on sale on Wednesday (15 March). The band had already announced that tickets would be non-transferable to reduce resale and overpriced tickets.
Smith had tweeted addressing the decision to do this earlier in the day, claiming that the band had been assured that Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan process would help them “fight the scalpers”.
“We had final say in all our ticket pricing for this upcoming tour, and didn’t want those prices instantly and horribly distorted by resale,” he wrote.

the little easter egg of elvis presley's guitar strap being used by daisy jones, aka riley keough, aka his granddaughter, that has really sent me over the edge with the attention to detail in daisy jones and the six pic.twitter.com/maby4vACWu

Sam Claflin, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon, Nabiyah Be and Taylor Jenkins Reid joined The Hollywood Reporter in its SXSW Studio to discuss bringing Reid’s novel Daisy Jones & The Six to the small screen at South by Southwest on Saturday.
The Amazon Prime Video original series, which follows the rise and fall of the titular band in the 1970s, is produced by Hello Sunshine and also stars Riley Keough, Camila Morrone, Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Tom Wright and Timothy Olyphant.
Reid shared that the cast “replaced” the images she had of the characters she came up with six years ago while writing the novel, which was released in 2019. “It feels so good because, as an author, it’s a very solitary experience,” she told THR during the Austin festival. “It’s me and my computer and then, like, me calling my husband in four times a day to be like,...

Though she doesn’t play an instrument in the band, Camilla Alvarez now Dunne (Camila Morrone) crucially shapes the evolution of The Dunne Brothers to The Six in Prime Video’s new show “Daisy Jones & the Six,” adapted from the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Morrone portrays the band’s eventual photographer, who starts dating Billy Dunne just as his band — then The Dunne Brothers — finds its feet. When the band decides to move to California, she doesn’t originally plan to go with them, but she ends up tagging along.
“She is central to this band,” said creator Scott Neustadter, who adapted the show. “She feels like they are her family, and she is the mom in a way. That’s her superpower. We leaned into that.”

Daisy Jones & The Six may not have existed in the 1970s, but they do now.
Sam Claflin, Riley Keough, Suki Waterhouse, Sebastian Chacon, Josh Whitehouse, and Will Harrison bring the once-fictional rock band to life in Prime Video’s adaptation of the best-selling novel, which debuts on Friday.
“I think the band really does exist, and it’s us,” Chacon, who plays drummer Warren Rojas, told Deadline. “We played a considerable amount of time together. We really got to the point where we’re not only proficient and capable, but also very comfortable and we look like we’ve been playing together for a long time — because we have.”
If all had gone according to plan, Daisy Jones & The Six would have begun production in April of 2020.
Prior to the series, the cast were novice musicians. They were expected to undergo a few months of individual music lessons...

Though you’ll undoubtedly forget many times while you’re watching it, Prime Video’s music drama Daisy Jones & The Six is not based on a true story. At least, not really. Adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name, this series about the titular band was inspired by the real life drama of classic ’70s rock group Fleetwood Mac.
While Fleetwood Mac is very much real (and great!), Daisy Jones & The Six is not real (though also great!). Still, that does not make the Behind the Music-esque drama they experience in these 10 episodes feel any less real. Contributing to that sense of verisimilitude is that the cast of Daisy Jones & The Six all fit their roles to a tee.

"Daisy Jones & The Six" hits Amazon Prime Video on March 3. The show, which is based on the book of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, centers around a fictional rock band's rise to stardom during the 1970s. In the series, Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) meets Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) and joins his band, The Six. Together, they record the hit album "Aurora" before the group splits up. Apart from Billy, The Six is made up of lead guitarist Graham Dunne (Will Harrison), keyboardist Karen Sirko (Suki Waterhouse), bassist Eddie Roundtree (Josh Whitehouse), and drummer Warren Rojas (Sebastian Chacon).
While Daisy Jones & The Six may not be a real band, the show's cast actually learned to sing and play instruments to make their performances appear as real as possible. The series' showrunner Scott Neustadter told EW because of the pandemic, the cast was able to receive lengthy music training...

Camila Morrone is used to seeing photos of herself — before transitioning to acting full-time, she starred for years in campaigns for top brands like Loewe, Coach and Topshop. But when a billboard for her new show, Daisy Jones & The Six, went up on Sunset Boulevard, it felt like a wholly unique experience. “This is my first global press tour, so to hear from all my family and friends who have seen it and been posing in front of it is surreal,” she says. “My chiropractor sent me a photo of the billboard!”

The most important character in Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel Daisy Jones & The Six? It’s the music – and any devotee of the book, a fictional oral history of a Seventies rock band, will have strong feelings about exactly how it should sound. It might have shades of Stevie Nicks, a touch of Joni Mitchell, a dash of The Eagles’ soft rock – and it has to feel vital, like it “takes a piece of your heart out and shows it to you”, as the group’s singer Billy Dunne puts it. The success of Prime Video’s Daisy Jones TV adaptation, then, was always going to ride on the songs – but how do you write the perfect track for an entirely made-up artist?

How can one best enjoy Daisy Jones & The Six, a tale of a fictional infighting ’70s rock group? Cue up Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 album Rumours. That band inspired this series based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestseller, which unfolds docudrama style. At its heart is the complicated love of two damaged bandmates: privileged but insecure lead singer Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and married working-class guitarist Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin), who deals with addiction. Daisy Jones & The Six (Credit: Prime Video) Keough, Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, lobbied for the role. “She told us that, despite her lineage [Keough recently lost her mother, Lisa Marie Presley], she wasn’t musical,” says exec producer Scott Neustadter. “The next day she sang into a mic for the first time; our music producers were blown away.” For the soundtrack, top songwriters including Marcus Mumford and Jackson Browne composed lyrics inspired by the book. Filming was on location at famed...

Packaged as a rock n' roll rollercoaster, "Daisy Jones & The Six" is hiding a not-so-secret soft side. Once you set aside the hardcore drugs, the brimming tensions, and the inner turmoil, the Prime Video series is really about the essence of creativity. Made collaborative, making music (and any other kind of art) is a uniquely intimate experience: one with the power to make or break a band on the cusp of greatness. An adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's bestselling novel, "Daisy Jones & The Six" doesn't just chronicle the rise of the titular musical act — it recounts their legendary fall. The fictional rock band fronted by Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) is world renowned because they burned bright and brief, then abruptly imploded. The series picks up 20 years after their surprise final performance, in the form of a tell-all documentary, to finally reveal what went wrong,...

Exclusive: We’ve heard from sources that Jason Seagraves has exited Cavalry Media as their SVP of Development.
Seagraves is the second executive to leave the management and production company following co-founder Dana Brunetti, which we first reported.
Seagraves, I understand, has both Brunetti and Cavalry Media co-founder Keegan Rosenberger’s approval to transition to a producorial role on his projects, one being the teen drama series Motorheads which is set up at Amazon Studios with John A. Norris as showrunner.

The official trailer of the upcoming musical-drama series titled ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ was unveiled recently. It serves a delectable treat of the 1970s aesthetics in terms of costumes, colour palette, styling, themes and of course the music which is the fulcrum of the series.
Although the story is presented in a documentary style, including background interviews with the band, ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ is a fictional story that captures the essence of creativity in the erratic, wild world of the 1970s and the band’s journey from its rise to the fall.
The series, which is based on the eponymous novel, features Riley Keough as Daisy Jones, Sam Claflin as Billy Dunne, Camila Morrone as Camila Dunne, Will Harrison as Graham Dunne, Suki Waterhouse as Karen Sirko, Josh Whitehouse as Eddie Roundtree, Sebastian Chacon as Warren Rojas, Nabiyah Be as Simone Jackson, and Tom Wright as Teddy Price,...

Fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid's "Daisy Jones & the Six" - the best-selling, blockbuster novel that was released in 2019 - are definitely very excited for the new miniseries based on the story, coming to Amazon Prime Video this March. But perhaps even more exciting is the fact that the series creators also made a real album, "Aurora," for the band. For fans of the novel, it's been a long time coming.
Let's explain. In "Daisy Jones & the Six," the fictional, titular band creates their own '70s masterpiece album, "Aurora." Then they split up and never record together again. The book is a fake oral history of how the band came together and how it fell apart so spectacularly at the height of the group's powers. But if there's one thing that's a little annoying about the book, it's that the songs they spend so much time talking about aren't real!
