Dongalor is visited by Emperor Zanus's nephew Roderick, a weapons inspector who takes a mutual shine to Dongalor's reluctant girlfriend, though the Eye of Gulga Grymna is successfully concealed. To take the heat off them and persuade Dongalor they are dead Zezelryck concocts a potion which simulates death when Krod and Aneka drink it. Their 'bodies' are taken to Dongalor but Krod starts to wake up and they are saved by a handsome mystery man.Dongalor's henchman Barnabus, meanwhile, speaks of a plan that could wipe out all freedom fighters.—don @ minifie-1
- Via narrator we are told Krod is having difficulty working alongside Aneka now that they have broken up. Krod is furious to see himself and Aneka on a WANTED poster in the supposedly resistance-friendly tavern they are inside. Hugo, the owner, tells them he was threatened with having the place burned down. About to raise glasses to the resistance with Hugo, Loquasto smells poison in Krod's glass. Hugo says the reward money was too tempting since he has a secret family. A crowd of angry townspeople are waiting outside to grab Krod and Aneka.
Dongalor is preparing to hold a press conference.
Hugo has now joined the townspeople and is threatening to burn his own tavern down if they don't come out. That changes when Hugo's wives meet each other and he is forced to run back into the tavern and help Krod escape.
A messenger tells Dongalor that Krod has avoided their trap at the tavern.
Dongalor announced to the press that he is doubling the reward for Krod and Aneka then butchers the "Fool Me Once" expression in George W. Bush-like fashion. When asked to confirm if he has acquired the Eye of Gulga Grymna, Dongalor gives a winking 'no-comment.' The follow-up question mentions that Emporer Zanus is sending a weapons inspector that afternoon. A shocked Dongalor ends the press conference.
The narrator tells us that Dongalor's increased bounty has prevented Krod from being safe anywhere. The only way it will end is if Krod is dead or "Dongalor thought he was dead."
To that end, Zezelryck concocts a life-suspension potion nicknamed "Goof Juice." Anyone who drinks the potion will temporarily appear to be dead.
Barnabus has masons and artisans create a concrete wall to hide the Eye before the inspector arrives. When Dongalor softly pats the wall a huge chunk falls out of the center, exposing what is inside. Just before the inspector, Lord Roderick (Zanus' nephew and "master of the pan flute"), walks in Dongalor shoves a knight in armor in front of the hole. The young and cocky Roderick begins his search.
Despite concerns about whether Zezelryck mixed the Goof Juice correctly, both Krod and Aneka drink the potion and immediately fall unconscious.
Roderick finds nothing in the armory or barracks. He kicks in one of the doors in the guest quarters and finds Mara, the girl Dongalor has holding against her will since killing her father. Roderick is very impressed: "Please, rise. I know I have." At dinner it is clear the younger Roderick has more in common with Mara. Mara likes an alternative balladeer that Roderick happens to know personally. Dongalor counters that he knows Yodeling Yurik Mueller but Mara doesn't seem impressed.
Zezelryck, Loquasto and Bruce bring Krod and Aneka's "bodies" to Dongalor to collect the reward. Barnabus and Dongalor confirm they are dead, though Dongalor sticks his face between Aneka's breasts and licks her face to check for the "death taste." Dongalor asks about Yodeling Yurik and Bruce responds that Yurik is one of his favorite gay balladeers. During this conversation Krod's Goof Juice begins to wear off and he starts to spoon Aneka. When Dongalor realizes Krod is in a drug-induced state he waves off his guards and tries to kill Krod himself. A weakened Krod is able to deflect several sword swipes. When Dongalor raises his sword to kill Ankeda, a man comes in through a window and helps them escape. Roderick shows up with Mara and tells Dongalor he is taking the woman away: "It's like I tell all my men: You find em, I grind em."
The narrator tells us Aneka is smitten with the man who saved them. He tells her only that he is "her humble servant" before riding off to help draw the guards away. She stares at him as he rides off, ignoring the calls of Krod.
Dongalor tells Barnabus to quadruple the bounty on Krod. Barnabus says they have received a proposal which, if implemented, would wipe out every resistance fighter. Dongalor asks for the author of the proposal and Barnabus responds: "That, sir, is the interesting part." Dongalor glances at the parchment and a smile comes over his face. "Interesting indeed," he says and begins dancing around the room and yodeling.
