Yes, Quinn is gone. But forgotten? Pshaw. Not by a long-shot.
When Homeland returns with Season 7 on Feb. 11 (9/8c, Showtime), “Quinn’s death and Carrie’s grief for him are everywhere – coloring her every thought,” shares co-creator and showrunner Alex Gansa of Rupert Friend’s dearly departed, death-defying hitman, who perished in the Season 6 finale. Gansa adds that the loss of Quinn will also inform Carrie’s “contempt for President Keane” and “push her to reassess what’s really important in her life.”

There’s nothing quite like “Live Pd,” the hit A&E series that follows cops and sheriffs — live, in real time, as they patrol various cities and counties across the country. The series began as an eight-episode experiment, for two hours a week, back in October 2016. But as it turned into a sensation, A&E kept expanding the show’s footprint.
Now, “Live Pd” airs twice a week, on Friday and Saturday nights, for three hours both evenings (from 9 p.m. to midnight). And other than a brief five-week hiatus in September, it’s been on the air for most of the year.
“It is by far the most frustrating, challenging, and gratifying program that I have ever been involved with,” said executive producer Dan Cesareo, whose Big Fish Entertainment is behind the series. “No two nights are the same. You could have a great show one night, where we...

The Christmas season — a time of giving and joy, of twinkling lights and family celebrations — is still hard for Alissa Parker, five years after her daughter Emilie, then 6, was killed along with 25 others in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
“The truth is, every year when I open up those box of decorations and ornaments, it is really tough,” Parker tells People in an interview to mark the anniversary of the shooting that cracked open the community of Newtown, Connecticut.

A same-sex couple who fell in love while performing on the pow wow dance circuit is hoping they can bring confidence to other young Native Americans grappling with their sexual identities.
Adrian Stevens (of the Northern Ute, Shoshone-Bannock and San Carlos Apache tribes) and Sean Snyder (of the Navajo Nation and Southern Ute tribes) met eight years ago at a pow wow, a celebratory event that brings Native Americans together to drum, dance, sing and celebrate their heritage. The event is an important part of their culture, Stevens says, and their shared passion for performance ultimately served as a foundation for a blossoming relationship.

For us heathens that brandish figurative razor blade-endowed flat caps stateside as (un)official members of the Peaky Blinders crew, it’s been a particularly strenuous month or so. Season 4 of Steven Knight’s addictive gangster drama has been airing new episodes weekly in Europe since November 15th. Considering the manner in which season 3 concluded, international employees of Shelby Company Ltd have been suffering through their own form of detox, desperately resisting spoilers each passing Wednesday.
Thankfully, Netflix will provide the fix by releasing all six episodes of season 4 on December 21st. It’s a largely meaningless conciliation for enthusiasts, no doubt, as the entirety of season 4 will have already premiered overseas by that time, but I digress.
For those needing a refresher – in the waning moments of season 3, the Shelby family were celebrating their triumph over the Russians inside Tommy’s office while he distributed the spoils of the Blinders’ latest victory amongst them.

Liev Schreiber earned his sixth career Golden Globe nomination earlier this week, his fifth straight for his performance as the title character in Showtime’s Ray Donovan. Five seasons later, Schreiber said he feels like he's finally hitting his stride on the show.
"I was very happy to hear about [the nomination]," the 50-year-old actor told Et over the phone after the Golden Globe nominations were announced, adding that he'd hoped his onscreen wife, Paula Malcomson, would break through for her heartbreaking performance this past season. "Sad that we didn’t see Paula['s] name, but I was very grateful."
Season five broke from convention for the hourlong drama, which revolves around Ray (Schreiber), a Boston-bred fixer for the rich and famous and a devoted family man (for the most part), when Ray's wife, Abby (Malcomson), died from cancer. The way the story unfolded -- each episode was told in two different periods of Ray's life: before and after Abby's death --...

Recording a holiday album was always on Gwen Stefani's "bucket list," but she never thought she'd get her own Christmas special.
Et's Nancy O'Dell sat down with the 48-year-old singer as she filmed Gwen Stefani's You Make It Feel Like Christmas for NBC, where she opened up about what a dream it was to tape -- and which performance made her mom, Patti Flynn, cry.
"I wrote this song on the new album called 'When I Was a Little Girl.' I was fantasizing about how when I was little, I can remember laying in my bed at 8 or 9 [years old], dreaming about who I'm going to love when I grow up," Stefani said. "Who's that person going to be? I'm going to have babies...just all those fantasies... I remember that moment, praying to God, going, 'Who am I going to love?'"

If Kevin Hart has his way, Dwayne Johnson's baby girl will be named in his honor!
The co-stars goofed around with Et's Kevin Frazier on the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of their new movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, on Monday, just hours after The Rock announced that he and girlfriend Lauren Hashian are expecting their second daughter.

Hart couldn't resist cracking a joke: "Word on the street, the name is Kevina... Kevina Johnson."
"I talked to Lauren -- we may name her Kevina... out of the honor and respect I have for my bestie here," the wrestler-turned-actor replied.
The 38-year-old comedian clearly appreciated the sweet gesture he suggested himself, saying, "Thank you. It's a big deal."

John Travolta is calling out the nature of the reports that his John Gotti biopic, in which he plays the notorious mobster, will no longer be released just 10 days before it was set to come out on Dec. 15.
Movie studio Lionsgate sold the film Gotti back to the production company Emmett/Furla/Oasis, according to multiple reports on Tuesday, thus scrapping its planned release later this month. On Wednesday, Travolta called the reports that his movie was abruptly pulled "grossly wrong."
“Unfortunately, the reports were speculation bordering on fake news,” Travolta tells Deadline. “Lionsgate was planning on a minimal release, and I did an investigation into people who might have the interest and financial wherewithal to better release it. [Producer] Ed [Walson] is a fan of mine and of the Gotti story and really wanted to see the movie. I invited his group, they saw it and bought it. That is the simple explanation for this."

Screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber have dealt with heightened emotions through their work in adaptations of Young Adult novels like The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns, but in Tommy Wiseau of The Disaster Artist they might have found the ultimate symbol of volatility. As played by James Franco in the film, Wiseau is a force of nature who refuses to bend down to things such as budgetary restrictions, other people’s feelings, and even common sense. His mission is to shoot The Room, a film in which he’s put all his energy and hopes. He doesn’t care that his film seems to make no sense, that his actors don’t know what they should be doing, and that the people he’s hired to work with him have no clue as to what he expects from them.

By 1985 Hollywood had still only dabbled in movies about the ‘shame that cannot speak its name,’ and in every case the verdict for the transgressors was regret and misery, if not death. MaryAnn’s quick take… Doubly dated, lacking in humor and subtext, its impressive cast deliberately underutilized, this is little more than an exercise in gorgeous production design. I’m “biast” (pro): love the cast
I’m “biast” (con): saw no need for another production
I can’t recall if I’ve read the source material (I might have as a teenager in my classic-mystery phase, but if so, clearly it didn’t stick)
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Here’s the biggest mystery of director and star Kenneth Branagh’s opulent period mounting of the 1934 Agatha Christie novel: Why? Who was clamoring for yet another retelling of a story that has been told onscreen — both the big and small screens — several times already, and as recently as 2010 in the beloved television series starring David Suchet as Hercule Poirot? Why bother to tell this story...

I know a lot of fans have been concerned about the director transition from Zack Sndyer to Joss Whedon, but apparently, it seems like it was a seamless one that will still keep Zack Snyder's original vision intact.
During the Justice League press event, Ben Affleck and producers Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven opened up on the big transition and how fans shouldn't worry about it. When asked about the difference between working with Snyder and Whedon, Affleck said:
"People don't understand how much of the film is designed in pre. I found as a director you can maybe change 10 percent, 15 percent on the day. We really had Zack's ship set sail for us. We were fortunate in that when Zack was unable to continue, we got a guy who, I got the sense that Joss was working from what he had discussed with Zack before he stepped in.

Few horror films have made as big an impact as The Blair Witch Project. Released in 1999, it jump-started the "found footage” subgenre that is still popular to this day. It is also notable for being one of the most profitable films of all-time, grossing $248 million at the box office on a minuscule budget of $60,000. After two moderately successful film sequels (Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 in 2000 and Blair Witch last year), it sounds like the next step for the series might actually be to the small screen. The Blair Witch Project codirector Eduardo Sánchez made a guest appearance on this week’s episode of the Diminishing Returns podcast, where he said, "For us, it’s a very natural thing to go and say, ‘Hey, let’s do a...

When it comes to real life tales of romance, Judd Apatow is an expert at finding and cultivating the ones that will resonate with audiences. And Apatow said he’d “never heard anyone tell a story” like the chain of events that led to Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon falling in love.
The writer/director/producer who shepherded projects like “Girls,” “Crashing,” and “Love” to the screen worked with Nanjiani and Gordon for years to develop the script that led to one of the year’s most well-received films. Both critically and commercially, audiences found great resonance in Nanjiani and Gordon’s story, which follows how their initial tentative romance was upended when a medical crisis led to Gordon being put in a medically induced coma.

Both critically and commercially, audiences found great resonance in Nanjiani and Gordon’s story, which follows how their initial tentative romance was upended when a medical crisis led to Gordon being put in a medically induced coma.

Because the third time’s the charm, a new attempt at making a follow-up to “The Blair Witch Project” is in the works — this time on TV. As both 2000’s “Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2” and last year’s “Blair Witch” proved to be disappointments, this small-screen venture both does and does not have to contend with high expectations. Eduardo Sánchez, who co-directed the original film, revealed the plans on the Diminishing Returns podcast.

The Blair Witch Project was a great horror film for its time and it was a ridiculously huge success. One of the most successful horror films in history. It definitely had one of the best movie marketing campaigns ever because it made people think that the events that took place in the movie were real. I wish the sequels could say the same, but unfortunately, they were a let-down.
The first sequel was called Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 and it was released in 2000. The other sequel was released in 2016 and it was simply called Blair Witch. I didn't care for either movie. They've had a hard time tapping into the magic that the first film had. The filmmakers just keep missing the mark.
Well, we may not have seen the last of The Blair Witch Project! According to co-creator Eduardo Sanchez, they are looking at the possibility of developing a TV series.

Kumail Nanjiani is one of the six names in entertainment being celebrated at the inaugural IndieWire Honors on Nov. 2. He co-wrote “The Big Sick” with his wife Emily Gordon, basing the story on their own relationship. Nanjiani is also a standup comic and actor best known for his role on “Silicon Valley.”
One of the year’s most deeply personal films was accidentally a bit more personal than planned: It turns out that Kumail Nanjiani’s character’s name in “The Big Sick” wasn’t supposed to be Kumail Nanjiani.
“A huge misstep,” Nanjiani revealed to IndieWire. “Day 1 of shooting was a day where I had a name tag on, and I was like, ‘Oh, shit! Should have changed that last name!'”

It’s no secret that Hollywood has developed a peculiar fascination with TV adaptations based on the movies of old.
Quite often, those repackaged products crash and burn (see: Minority Report, Limitless, Crash), but there are exceptions to the rule. From The Exorcist to Fargo, Westworld to The Sarah Connor Chronicles, we’ve seen a whole host of dormant films find new life on the small screen, and if Eduardo Sanchez is to be believed, The Blair Witch Project could be the latest addition to the fold.
While appearing on the newest episode of Diminishing Returns (via Bloody Disgusting), Sanchez outlined his vision for a Blair Witch TV series. As co-director behind the 1999 classic, Eduardo Sanchez knows a thing or two about the goings on in Maryland Forest, and here, the filmmaker touches base on what a TV spinoff would look like:

Michael Phelps may have hung up his swim trunks, but his 1-year-old son, Boomer, is just realizing his love of the sport.
Et caught up with the Olympic gold medalist after he delivered an inspirational speech about water conservation -- in partnership with Colgate's Every Drop Counts campaign -- to the students of Alain L. Locke Magnet School for Environmental Stewardship in New York City last week.
Phelps was eager to gush over his baby boy, and noted that the father-son duo already have one thing in common. "[Boomer] loves being in the water," the 32-year-old swimmer mused. "[At the house], we were both lying on our stomachs just kicking our feet [in the pool]. He loves being outside."

Spoilers for Thor: The Dark World lie ahead
Dressed as snappily as ever, Taika Waititi was leaning playfully up against a wall as I entered a swanky London hotel room to chat with him. The writer-director of Boy, Eagle Vs Shark, What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilderpeople then led me over to a little table, where he was halfway through drinking some sort of caffeine-based beverage from a martini glass. Pure class.
What followed was a snappy chinwag about Waititi’s new directorial project, Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, which teams Chris Hemsworth’s godly goldilocks with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, to take on such villains as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster and Cate Blanchett’s Hela.

Last week, we pointed out a report that said Chip and Joanna Gaines ended their series Fixer Upper because they were unhappy with their contract at Hgtv. A source said the Gainses would do another series if the price was right. Chip and Joanna immediately denied that claim, saying they were ending the series for personal and family reasons. Now in a new interview, Chip Gaines says they'd do a series again "in a heartbeat," raising hope that the Gainses might be back on the air again soon.
