- An ice-based meta frames Frost for a murder and a robbery, setting Kristen Kramer on Frost and Caitlin's trail. Meanwhile, Barry deals with Speed Force looking like his mother, and Joe chafes under Kristen's apparent obsession with putting Frost under arrest.—Gislef
- Barry arrives at the loft with breakfast, and finds Iris and Speed Force making breakfast. Speed Force talks about how making breakfast feels like more than just chemical reactions. Barry grabs a carafe with mimosa and his hand uncontrollably shakes until the carafe shatters.
The three of them sit down for breakfast, and they consider, the Strength, Sage, and Still Forces. Iris tells Speed force that like she's been like a part of the family. Barry is still concerned, and says that it's about how his powers are glitching after he just got them back. Speed Force suggests that she might be the reason, and she's been subtly increasing his powers in case the other Forces come back.
Barry gets a text calling him to work, and Speed Force suggests that she go with him since she's like a battery to him. Despite that, Barry isn't thrilled with the idea and says that it might be a traffic accident. Speed Force says that if he's in danger, she'll sense it and be there. Barry speeds off, and Speed Force hopes that he's okay. Iris looks uncomfortable.
At STAR Labs, Cecile reviews all the charges against Frost. Chester and Caitlin are there, and Cecile points out that the police dropped their charges but they're still outstanding, and that gives Kristen all she needs to go after Frost. Frost is ready to assault Kristen, but Cecile advises Frost not to do it. Frost insists that she's grown, and Cecile advises her to lay low and not do superhero stuff. Cecile tells Frost to pursue her artistic career, and Frost is unhappy that she can't live the life she just got, and suggests that when Kristen doesn't get results, she'll be reassigned.
Caitlin tells Frost that she knows it isn't fair, but it's their best option. Frost agrees, just as Chester gets his first solo crime scene call since Cisco and Kamilla are out of town. It's a 1035, and Frost tells him to go have his fun.
Chester wheels his equipment into an Ivo Labs garage with a frozen van. Joe and Barry are there, and Joe explains that the van was full of tech and an experimental microchip was stolen by the thief, who uses a cold weapon. The driver is a frozen pile of ice on the concrete. Kristen arrives and figures that Frost is the thief and the killer. Barry and the others are taken back by her assumption.
Joe says that there are other criminals that use crime, like Captain Cold. Kristen asks Chester for his take as the CCPD's new technical consultant. Chester scans the area for dark matter and discovers that the levels are off the chart. Barry points out that the ice patterns are different, and points out that Frost has never killed anyone. Kristen isn't convinced, and tells Joe that she's going to ask the DA office to issue a warrant for Frost's arrest.
Joe has no choice but to agree, and Kristen leaves. Joe says that he can't alibi Frost without letting Kristen know that he was with a felon. Chester leaves, and Joe tells Barry that they have to find the metahuman responsible.
Frost is lifting weights at STAR Labs with Allegra, and Chester comes in and tells them about the new ice meta, and how Kristen thinks Frost is the killer and the meta task force has been alerted. Chester says that they're trying to deal with the things, and is working with Caitlin to modify one of HR's transmorgifiers.
Once Chester leaves, Frost claims that she's staying put. Allegra doesn't believe her and figures Frost will go after the ice-meta by herself. Frost says that she'll handle it herself, and Allegra isn't going to tell the others. She tells Allegra to provide her backup, and she'll call her if she needs help.
At the garage, Barry analyzes the ice and tells Kristen that the ice only has dark matter on the surface. He says that he's going to find out, and she leaves him to work. Speed Force appears in and says that Kristen admires Barry. She says that she can feel the particle of the ice, and they're constrained on a molecular level. Barry gets an idea, and says that he has to take the ice back to his lab. He speeds off and bumps into Kristin's car, and she sees him.
When Kristen asks what he's doing, Barry says that he saw footprints and is tracking them. She tells him to keep up the good work and drives off. Speed Force speeds over and says that she likes Kristen, and Barry tells her to go back to the loft.
That night, Frost goes into the bar, O'Shaughnessy's, where she used to work and says that she's looking for an ice-meta. The bartender, Mark Blaine, says that he might know a few things. Frost is taken back by Mark's good looks, and then asks him if he knows about stolen technology. Mark pours her a cocktail and demonstrates his knowledge of science. Frost drinks it and says that it isn't bad.
Kristen is giving a press conference saying that the CCPD is offering a $100,000 reward for Frost's capture. Several of the bar patrons surround Frost, and she fights them. Frost takes them down while Mark drinks from one of the bottles. When one patron comes at Frost from behind, Mark knocks him out from behind, and removes his wet shirt as Frost stares at him.
Mark notices and tells her to take a picture, then tells Frost that there's a new meta in town who likes experimental tech, and keeps it at a complex out of town. When Frost asks what it's going to cost her, he tells her to come back and ask for Mark.
At Barry's CCPD lab, Barry tells Chester that Kristen isn't going to back down. He confirms the ice is compacted, and Speed Force speeds in and offers her help. Barry isn't interested, but Chester suggests that since Nora is omniscience, she can crunch the data. Despite that, Barry says that they need to do it themselves. He then speeds out of control, running around he still stoops himself. His rampage destroys the data, and Barry blames Speed Force for being there and making him speed out of control. Barry tells Speed Force that she chose him to be the hero, she should let him be the hero, and she speeds off.
Kristen leads a group of SWAT soldiers through the hallway outside. Barry notices and asks Kristen what's going on, and she says that they got a location on Frost and they're going to bring her in. Chester calls Frost but she doesn't answer, so he calls Allegra. Allegra lies and claims Frost is there, and Chester tells her that Kristen is going to arrest Frost. Once Chester hangs up, Allegra calls Frost.
Frost breaks into the complex, and a surveillance camera scans her. She notices and turns on the lights, and discovers that the shelves are empty.
Kristen takes the command force to Caitlin's apartment and puts her under arrest. Joe is there along with Renee Carpenter, a clinician with the mental health evaluation team. Joe puts power dampening handcuffs on Caitlin, calls her Killer Frost, and says that she's under arrest.
At the police station, Cecile meets with an imprisoned Caitlin in an interrogation room as Joe looks on. She says that Kristen didn't find incriminating in Caitlin's apartment, and once the blood test comes back negative for the meta-gene, they'll have to release Caitlin from custody. Cecile confirms that Kristen got an anonymous tip, and Joe figures that someone out there knows that Caitlin used to be Killer Frost. He says that Kristin didn't tell her about the raid until she did it, and leaves to confront Kristen.
Frost calls Cecile and tells her to move away from the north wall. Caitlin takes the phone and tells Frost not to dare, and they're both innocent so they need to let it play out. Cecile agrees and tells Frost that they have no evidence against Frost. Caitlin insists that Frost is a good person and human, and Frost figures out who framed them and goes to figure out why.
Joe confronts Kramer as she leaves and says that she used his task force to harass an innocent person. he says that they're not supposed to work that way, and Kristen says that the facial recognition of Caitlin and Frost matches at 80%. Joe suggests that someone is trying to frame Frost, and she's saved his life more than once while keeping the city safe. Kristen tells him to honor his badge by thinking of what truly serves the public good, and leaves.
At the loft, Iris tells Barry that Speed Fore is holed up in the bedroom, and there's a person forming inside her. Barry says that Iris doesn't know what it's like seeing someone who looks like his dead mother having breakfast. Iris figures that it was a mistake inviting Speed Force to stay with them, and Barry wonders what's wrong with him. His wife says that Speed Force is more than she was when she was an omnipotent entity, and talks about how she came back from college. After a week, her and Joe butted heads over the stupidest things. Iris figures that when she left, she was Joe's baby girl. When she got back, they were both adults and they weren't just father and daughter any more.
Iris says that Barry and Speed Force will have to forge a new relationship, and it will get painful along the way. Chester calls Barry and texts that he has a lead on the new ice meta. Barry speeds to STAR Labs, and Chester tells him that he salved some of the ice data they lost. He determined that the ice was absorbed with synthetic dark matter, and a science expert who used to know Caitlin and Frost were one person is framing Frost.
Barry notices that Frost isn't there, and Allegra admits that she lied and Frost went looking for the killer on her own. Barry tells Allegra that it's okay that she liked to them, and they need to focus on finding Frost.
Frost goes back to the bar and asks Mark why she shouldn't kill him. Mark smirks and says that Caitlin wouldn't like it. He casually pours two drinks and offers one to Frost. Frost doesn't accept, and Mark tells her to ask. She asks how he knew her and Caitlin were connected, and he watched Frost's every move. He sent her to the complex and took a neurogenic scan of her through the surveillance camera, and he took back the microchip that he built.
Mark was a cyro-geneticist at Ivo, but they thought he went too far and had him arrested. As a child, he fell through the ice while skating, and fell into cold lake water. Mark died and the paramedics revived him, and he figures that ice holds the power of life and death. He's watched Frost for years, admiring her powers, and thanks to the scan he's as powerful as she is. Mark activates a pair of gauntlets and says that now she can call him "Chillblaine".
Chillblaine knocks Frost back with a blast of ice. She recovers and throws blasts of ice at him, and he dodges them and then counters her blasts. He gets close enough to fight hand-to-hand, and when she knocks him down he blasts her. Frost realizes that he's fired a blast of ice on her eyes and she's blind.
Chester picks up the cyrokinetic spike, and Barry takes Allegra with her since he needs her to convince Frost to come home.
As Chillblaine taunts Frost, she tries to hit him even though she's blinded. He grabs her from behind, and Frost drives an ice dagger through her chest and into Chillblaine. Frost says that she has ice healing but he doesn't. Flash and Allegra arrive, and Allegra melt the ice on Frost's eyes. Kristen and her force arrive outside, and she calls over the bullhorn that Frost has two minutes to surrender.
The squad moves in, and Chester monitors them from STAR Labs. He tells Flash, who removes his mask. Allegra is ready to fight, and Barry suggests that he show Kristen that Chillblaine is the killer. Frost suggests that she surrender, because she's not innocent, and she's never paid for the bad things she's done. She figures that she has to pay up for what she did. Allegra reminds Frost that she's been in prison and it doesn't make people a better place, but Frost insists on turning herself in. She hugs Allegra and says that she'll be back, and walks out to surrender herself. Barry tells Chester that he thinks Frost is making the right choice.
The next day, Barry checks with Cecile and confirms that Caitlin is back home, and Frost is pleading guilty in court. Barry tells Iris that he knows how a relationship like the one between Caitlin and Frost changes. Speed Force comes in, and Iris excuses herself. Barry apologizes to Speed Force for his earlier reaction, and says that she's welcome there. He says that he can't expect her to be the way she used to be, and what she is someone he'd like to know better. Barry isn't glitching, and Speed Force is healed, and Barry figures that now they can take on the three Forces.
