- At home, Barry watches TV about the violence caused by the "speedster war". As Barry goes to tell Iris that he has to get onto the streets, Nora appears. Barry starts to choke, and Nora tells him that the future is changing and they have to do everything before it's too late, as Nora starts to fade away.
Barry wakes up from his nightmare on his couch, and wonders what's happening to him.
At STAR Labs, Chester and Caitlin are watching the news. The newscaster says that Godspeeds are attacking people in their homes. Barry speeds in and says that the Godspeeds ambushed him as he was evacuating City Hall. He tells them not to call in Iris because she's still home feeling sick, and Chester confirms that the Godspeeds showed up after eight hours but their movements are unpredictable. As Chester works on a predictive algorithm, Barry point out that they still have no idea what the Godspeed clones wants or why they're warring.
Cecile comes in and asks if anyone has seen Joe, and she hasn't been able to get hold of him in hours. Chester figures that the Godspeeds are generating electrical interference so that phones don't work, and that's why Cecile can't reach Joe on his phone.
Creyke comes up and confirms that Carmen got out of the car, and that she had someone with her. He goes hunting for her, while Joe and Kristen hide in the forest nearby. Carmen says that she saw the signature light of Creyke's pulse weapon, and Joe confirms that his phone isn't working. The two of them head out.
The next day, Caitlin examines Barry in the medlab. He says that he has a second dream about Nora, and she told him that the future changed and Barry needed to do something. Barry worries that Godspeed in the future has eliminated Nora from the timestream, but he can't travel into the future without causing another Flashpoint.
Diggle comes in and says that he might be able to help with the Godspeeds. He offers them an object that he says can end the war. Diggle shows them an entropy trap in the case that he brought. Chester arrives and is impressed that Diggle is there, having heard of Diggle's time with Team Arrow. Diggle says that Cisco created the entropy trap, and Diggle volunteered to deliver it. He explains that there's a motion-sensitive scanner, puts it on the floor, and activates it.
Chester gives Diggle a paperweight, and Diggle tosses it over the sensor. The trap generates a wave, freezing the paperweight in time. Barry figures that if they can trap one of the Godspeeds, they could communicate with it and find out what the Civil War is about. Diggle warns against bringing a Godspeed in, but Barry figures that the new ones that saved his life are potential allies. As they talk, Diggle rubs his head because of the pain.
Caitlin gives Esperanza a metal device to maintain her laryngeal structure, and leaves to let Esperanza and Allegra talk. Esperanza tells her cousin that she's going after the director of Black Hole. Allegra says that Esperanza has to wait and heal up, but Esperanza figures that she has to deal with the evil. Her cousin says that she won't let Esperanza kill more people, and Esperanza agrees but says that they will do it as a family. Allegra says that it has to wait because the city needs her. Esperanza says that the Black Hole doctors will torture others if she doesn't stop them, and says that she walks alone and leaves.
The clones return and speed through the city. Chester activates a signal in Flash's chest that duplicates the original Godspeeds, so the new ones think he's their rival.
A Godspeed closes in on Barry, who runs over the trap. He vibrates through the street, and Diggle steps out and Flash joins him. The Godspeed is suspended in mid-air over the trap.
The two men take the Godspeed to STAR Labs and lock him in the pipeline. He doesn't say anything, and Diggle tells Cecile that ARGUS has learned that her powers have enhanced. Caitlin asks Cecile can tell what the Godspeed is feeling, and she says that he's feeling anger and determination. Allegra is using her powers to jam its transmission and keep it from contact its fellows.
Barry goes to the cell and studies the Godspeed. It talks to Barry and says that they have much to discuss, and calls Barry by name.
Creyke tracks Kristen's and Joe's tracks through the forest, going past the hiding duo. Carmen tells Joe that she doesn't know why Creyke is trying to kill them. She wants to go after Creyke, saying that she promised the families of the 12 men that Creyke killed that she'd get justice for them. Joe says that he has Carmen's back, and figures Creyke doesn't know who he's hunting. Carmen says that she knows how to capture Creyke.
The Godspeed says that the two sides are evenly matches, and Flash is the advantage the "good" Godspeeds need against the others. He explains that the other Godspeeds want to take Flash's speed and give it to their master, and then they'll die. The Godspeed says that the prime August Heart is there, and the others--listening in-figure whichever side finds August Heart wins their war.
The captive Godspeed says that they have to destroy the one man who hopes to gain enough power, which would destroy them all. He asks Flash to join them and end the war, save Central City and Flash's family. The Godspeed admits that if they find Heart, they'll kill him. Flash says that he won't kill, even an enemy, and Godspeed says that anyone who stands in the Godspeeds' way will die.
The captive Godspeed breaks free before Flash can get to the trap, and it smashes the trap. He starts to drain Flash of his speed, and Allegra arrives and blasts Godspeed. He speeds away, and Flash realizes the one thing they had that could have stopped the Godspeeds is gone.
Diggle and Chester arrive, and Chester figures the artificial dampeners wouldn't work since the Godspeeds have artificial speed force. Barry snaps at Chester to fix the trap, and Chester warns that he can't do it. Diggle asks Chester and Allegra to leave so he can talk to Barry privately. Once they go, Diggle asks Barry what has him so upset. Barry says that Nora lived in 2049 originally, the time that Godspeed is from. He wonders if Nora is alive in the future, and can't run to 2049 because he might cause another Flashpoint.
Diggle tells Barry that it's right thing for Barry to travel to the future, and he could go as far as it takes for his family. He tells Barry not to be afraid to do the same. Allegra secretly listens in as Diggle talks about family, and leaves.
Barry finds Cecile and tells him that he needs to go to 2049 make sure Nora is okay. Cecile has been reading Nora's journal, and she was looking for anything about Heart. Nora figures that Heart was hiding in 2021, and mentioned a few places that seemed personal to Heart. Cecile is going to search for Heart, and will take Diggle and Allegra with her.
That night, Cecile meets with Diggle and says that she called but got no answer. Diggle is overwhelmed by pain in his head, and Cecile feels it with her empathic powers. Once the pain fades away, Cecile says that the pain felt infinite. Diggle says that he's fine, and he can handle it. The two of them head out to find Heart.
Barry prepares to leave, and Caitlin tells him that he'll have Mobile Gideon. When Barry apologizes to him, Chester says that he understands. Flash speeds through the pipeline and buildings up his speed until he travels into the Speed Force. The Godspeeds are waiting for him and blast him down.
When Barry lands in time, he finds Deon waiting for him. Deon helps Barry up and says that they have a lot to talk about. The Still Force explains that the Godspeeds are infesting the Speed Force, and Speed Force is trying to destroy them. Deon says that he can't take Barry to 2049, and she winces in pain and her eyes glow green.
Iris says that something is causing her to move in and out of the timelines. Deon says that he's using all of his power to stabilize Iris or she'll fracture through time, and he can't take Barry to 2049. He doesn't have enough power to take Barry with Iris, and tells Barry that he has a war to fight. Iris moans in pain again, and Deon teleports away with Iris.
Diggle finds one Godspeed as he attacks a frightened citizen. He shoots the Godspeed with nanites to slow him down, then fights him hand-to-hand. Diggle knocks the Godspeed down, but then clutches at his head in pain and hears the words "Worlds await" in his head. The Godspeed recovers and prepares to kill Diggle, and Frost arrives and blasts the Godspeed away. Diggle refuses to go back for Caitlin to check him out as long as Heart is still at large.
Allegra teleports into the Black Hole base that Esperanza was searching for, and finds a trail of corpses.
Chester and Caitlin wonder when Barry is coming back, and Deon teleports Barry in. He tells his friends that Iris is the one that something is wrong with, not Nora.
Allegra finds Esperanza on the ground, bleeding out. Esperanza tells Allegra that she's too late, and Allegra says that she should have chosen her real family. Esperanza tells her that she didn't and now she dies alone, and passes away and disintegrates into energy.
Diggle, Frost, and Cecile go to the address that Heart work at in 2049. They find a man hiding nearby, and he says that he doesn't know what his name. The man insists that he can't leave and he can feel that the place is important, but doesn't know why. He asks them if they know.
Creyke gets the drop on Carmen, and says that there's no way out. He tells Carmen that he's died 17 times and can't be killed. She turns and Creyke realizes who he's facing. Joe shoots a meta-negator onto Creyke's leg, and he asks Kristen who she is because "his" Kristen died in the explosion. Joe asks Kristen what Creyke is talking about, and she says that she doesn't know and doesn't care.
Kristen asks Creyke if he needed money, and Creyke says that he's immortal and figured the world was meant for him because he deserved it. Creyke says that he could go down broke, but there were people who would pay him money for his talents. Kristen wonders if she ever really knew Creyke, and he tells her that he takes half of the money he makes and gives it back to the rez and the people there so they could have nothing that they never had.
Creyke says that he's do it all again, and Kristen prepares to kill him. Joe tells her to stand down, and Creyke isn't worth it. After a minute she lowers Creyke's blaster that she took from him.
The team wonder if the man should be locked up at ARGUS, and Barry says that they need to find way to prove the man is Heart. The others try to assure Barry, saying Iris is safe with Deon, and Chester warns that the Godspeeds are coming back emotionally faster.
Cecile can't pick up any unusual emotions from the man. Caitlin confirms that the man's somatic memory cells are inert, and she might be able to use neurogenic dark matter to activate the cells. She warns that it's risky, and will only be temporary. Barry tells Caitlin to do it if the man gives permission.
Chester works on putting the trap back together, and Diggle tells him that he has skills. As Diggle prepare to go, Barry arrives and asks if he's leaving. Diggle remembers the green meteor he found, and says that he's been putting something off long enough and now he has to deal with it. The two men hug and Diggle wishes Barry good luck.
Once the man agrees so he can know who he is, Caitlin gives him the shot. The man winces in pain and says that his name is August.
Cecile tells Barry that the man is Heart, but his memory loss was too severe for them to get anything else. Barry admits that he feels helpless, and Cecile tells him to leave a little room for hope and assures him that they'll get through it. She goes to check in with Chester, who is trying to help her get through to Joe.
Nora speeds in and when Barry notes that she's okay, Nora assures him that Iris will be fine and they both are proof that everything will be fine. When Barry wonders what she means, a boy speeds in and Nora introduces Barry to his son Bart.
