Guy takes a belated look at the fourth (but possibly not final) film in the Lethal Weapon franchise…
Spoilers lie ahead for Lethal Weapons 2 to 4.

At the beginning of 2016, Den of Geek gave me the opportunity to rank the Lethal Weapon films in order of merit and then write about each one individually. This made me very happy, as it is a franchise for which I have a great deal of passion – both positive and negative. But like a reluctant hit man stuck in a clichéd redemption arc, I just couldn’t finish the job.
By the time I had produced a well-reasoned account of why the third in the series was objectively the worst – an assertion I still stand by, despite what you’re about to read...

The new take on Dad's Army gives a standout role to Toby Jones. Here's our review of the new comedy.
Don't panic! Oliver Parker's big screen version of classic British sitcom Dad's Army (48 years old this year) is remarkably faithful to Jimmy Perry and David Croft's much-loved original and by no means the travesty that some had feared. It benefits chiefly from a note-perfect cast and a warm glow of reverential nostalgia that pervades the entire project, but it's slightly let down by a meandering script and the playing-it-safe comedy moments tend to generate amused smiles rather than out-and-out laughter.
Set in 1944, in the fictional seaside town of Walmington-on-Sea, the film stars Toby Jones as Captain Mainwaring, the leader of an elderly platoon of the Home Guard that comprises Oxford-educated Sergeant Wilson (Bill Nighy), doddery Private Godfrey (Michael Gambon), excitable Lance Corporal Jones (Tom Courtenay...

We're Doomed: The Dad's Army Story is touching, humorous and ultimately heartwarming piece of television...
New Dad’s Army casts are like buses: you wait ages for one to come along, and then when two turn up at once they don’t like it up ‘em. While it’s never been far from the public consciousness, the sitcom about the Home Guard of Walmington-on-Sea seems to have experienced a surge in popularity over the last few years, with repeats on BBC Two having become a Saturday night staple - only a few weeks ago, it was the programme with the highest Appreciation Index for the whole of a Saturday which included Strictly, The X Factor, I’m A Celeb and the Doctor Who finale. And with the new Dad’s Army film starring Toby Jones and Bill Nighy set for release in February, it’s the perfect...

There’s little we can say about this, a spoof closing titles for Blake’s 7 in the style of a 1970’s BBC comedy, complete with the “You have been watching” caption and amusing or out of character camera clips. It really is chortle-inducing, but it isn’t really for an international or young audience unless you happen...

Though officially a part of YouTube's ongoing Comedy Week, Michael Cera's appearance in the new short film "Gregory Go Boom" also works as an unofficial warm-up for this weekend's new season of "Arrested Development." That's not to say George Michael Bluth has suffered a Buster-esque accident with a seal -- the new video from director Janicza Bravo ("Eat") is just one way to get used to seeing 25-year-old Cera after watching so much of 15-year-old Cera during your marathon sessions of "Ad" viewing. (You have been watching, right?) Cera executive produced and stars in the film as a paraplegic looking for love in California's Salton Sea. This bleak premise as well as the ominous trailer hint at some dark themes, but there's bound to be a few laughs -- seeing as it's Comedy Week and all. Cera recently released his directorial debut, the short film "Brazzaville Teen-Ager," that also premiered as a Jash video.

Penumbra is a paranoid thriller in the mode of Rosemary’s Baby and Repulsion, with a decidedly darkly comic streak that manages to unsettle and frustrate in equal measure. The film is an Argentinean film from the Bogliano brothers, recently released in a small number of theaters and now available on DVD.

Holly Walsh has defended the use of panel games as a means of showcasing comedians on TV. The stand-up has appeared on several such shows in the past two years, including Would I Lie To You, You Have Been Watching, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Mock The Week. Asked if the popular format had a negative effect on the UK comedy landscape, Walsh told Digital Spy: "I can only speak for myself, and I really enjoy doing panel shows. I love writing jokes and I love the fact that you can't rely on your old material - you have to come up with new stuff. "I quite enjoy watching them. There are stand-up shows, but they're usually tried and tested people, and I think panel shows are quite a good way of showcasing new comedians. "On (more)...

Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan has mocked Charlie Brooker after an episode of the TV critic's You Have Been Watching show attracted just 606,000 viewers. The Daily Telegraph reports a renewed surge in popularity of bow ties thanks to Doctor Who. A spokesman for Topman says sales have shot up by 94% since The Eleventh Hour was aired. The Guild of Tiemakers chairman, John Miln, said he was pleased the unusual trend had been kicked off by the show.

Frank Skinner's Opinionated, 30 Rock, Charlie Brooker and the UK bow for The Prisoner lead this week's TV highlights. Plus lots of movies too...
Frequenters of the site will be aware that we're friends of the comedians and often voice our appreciation of anything that can give us a giggle. News and current events usually don't. So, we welcome the arrival of Frank Skinner's Opinionated tonight, Friday, April 16th at 10:00pm on BBC2, a show that brings guest comedians to studio audiences around the country to talk about topical stuff. We're of the mind that if you can't laugh, you'd often cry at today's goings on, so any help in that area is promptly ticked on our telly timetables.
On Saturday, April 17th, a show that is perhaps unwise to be shown in pubs will air at 9:30pm on ITV. We say that as it's the reimagining of The Prisoner,...
