Well, this was something else alright.
I had the opportunity to sit down and watch the 2021 Thai Netflix movie "Deep", and I did so without ever having heard about the movie. But the synopsis presenting the movie sounded interesting enough, so of course I gave "Deep" a go. And needless to say that the fact it was a Thai movie that I hadn't already seen, also helped to make me want to watch it.
I am rather amazed that not one, but no less than six writers could collectively manage to come up with such a boring storyline. And I am a bit at a loss here what writers Sita Likitvanichkul, Kittitat Nokngam, Jetarin Ratanaserikiat, Apirak Samudkidpisan, Wisit Sasanatieng and Thanabodee Uawithya were trying to accomplish with the storyline the concocted for "Deep". Sure, I get the whole sleep deprevation concept, but other than that, the movie was just a heap of rubbish.
The acting in the movie was not impressive. But I am sure that it wasn't because of the actresses and actors, but the fault lies with the shoddy and subpar writing and the lack of a properly interesting script. I wasn't familiar with the performers in this movie, which usually is something I enjoy in a movie. But given the total absense of an interesting storyline, then there was just no enjoyment to be had here from the performances.
"Deep" from directors Sita Likitvanichkul, Jetarin Ratanaserikiat, Apirak Samudkidpisan, Thanabodee Uawithya and Adirek Wattaleela was a swing and a miss. It was a movie with an interesting enough concept and synopsis, but the execution on the screen was just not impressive.
I am rating "Deep" a mere three out of ten stars.
