It didn’t happen at Universal’s presentation, but we finally got a Christopher Nolan announcement at CinemaCon 2024.
On Thursday morning, Paramount Pictures’ President of Domestic Distribution Chris Aronson revealed that Nolan’s “Interstellar” will return to theaters on September 27, 2024 in both 70mm and IMAX formats. The re-release is a celebration of the film’s 10-year anniversary. It is probably also — at least somewhat — a continued celebration of Nolan’s Best Picture-winner “Oppenheimer.”
Of course, the “Oppenheimer” victory isn’t for Paramount to tout, and its studio Universal took a brief victory lap (or two) during its own Wednesday afternoon Colosseum presentation. The on-stage champagne-popping split time with “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and included a prerecorded message from Nolan. (He did not touch on “Mario.”)
In the package played for a packed house of (mostly) exhibitors, Nolan said he had been “very nervous” about showing “Oppenheimer” footage to the same CinemaCon audience last year.

Ridley Scott's 2000 historical epic "Gladiator" -- based very, very, very loosely on real history -- follows a fictional Roman military commander named Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe) who suffers a long string of terrible tragedies. Maximus is poised to be the next Roman emperor, but the sniveling, Richard III-like Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) usurps the throne instead. Maximus is arrested for not pledging loyalty, but evades capture and flees home ... only to find that his wife and child have been crucified. Maximus is then kidnapped by slave traders and sold into the gladiatorial arena. He now has to murder others to stay alive and keep his true identity secret, all while Commodus becomes more and more corrupt.
Eventually, at the end of a 155-minute movie, Commodus is punished for his evil. Maximus, however, also dies while fighting the villain. Justice is done, and Maximus can finally succumb to mourning. The...

Los Angeles, April 3 (Ians) Hollywood star Russell Crowe has quipped that he will return as General Maximus Decimus Meridius in the ‘Gladiator’ sequel – as a corpse lying “six feet under” the Colosseum.
The 58-year-old actor grabbed an Oscar for playing the vengeful Roman commander in Ridley Scott’s 2000 epic and has said he won’t be starring in the long-awaited follow-up, set 20 years after the first film, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“I think when they’re shooting in the Colosseum and stuff, I’ll be lying like six feet underground… you won’t see me, but I’ll be there beneath the ground,” he joked on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’.
Russell added that he had spoken with ‘Blade Runner’ director Ridley, 85, about the sequel, but they had concluded his character was better left dead.
He said: “I’ve had a couple of dinners with Ridley since he embarked on this, we...

Tears, apologies, screaming fans, a Céline Dion shout-out and 30-plus minutes of banter punctuated the long-awaited two-hour opening performance of “Weekends With Adele” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Even before she took the stage of The Colosseum at exactly 8:15 p.m. on Friday night, it had been a monumental week for Adele, who received seven Grammy nominations. But onstage she revealed the biggest event for her will come Sunday because it’s the finale of her favorite show, The Walking Dead.
“I’ve got a lot to tell you. It’s a bloody massive week for me. It is the Walking Dead finale on Sunday — can you believe that? Do we have any Walking Dead fans here? I’ve been obsessed with The Walking Dead for over a decade and on Sunday it is all coming to an end … and...
