TV pilots are thought of as prototypes of the shows that will follow, because elements often change from pilot to series. Variety magazine estimates that only a little over a quarter of all pilots made for American TV proceed to the series stage. Once "Live Eye" was produced, the pilot was presented to Warner Bros. Television studio executives in California, and at that point, the "Live Eye" pilot received various degrees of feedback and was gauged to have potential to advance from one pilot to a full-fledged TV series, but Warner instead decided to continue with its focus in 1981 on its TV series "Dallas" and "The Dukes of Hazzard."
