two questions
sst4305330 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Great episode but I do have two questions...

Mabel cleaning up the blood on the floor - after forensics were finished wouldn't there have been a clean up crew?

Bunny's apartment - wouldn't the detectives have already scoured the apartment looking for evidence?

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

Good start to the season
chrishob-0576628 June 2022
This season has potential to be a really good one, the story and the writing are good. There's lots of questions that need to be answered and I'm excited to see where that leads. The chemistry between the 3 leads is still great.

-2 stars for Amy Schumer.
jpc-336906 July 2022
Loved season 1. But why bring on someone who hasn't really been funny since... ever? I hope she doesn't play a big role.

Overall I'll still watch on the merits of season 1, but come on.

Slow Start
Hitchcoc30 June 2022
The police have nothing and so the gang is off to the races. They have been warned about doing another podcast. But really? I am not an Amy Schumer fan and so it takes a lot of the fun out when she appears on the screen.

Welcome back
aboalhyjaa28 June 2022
Cara delevingne :D amy schumer :( First of all, this episode is definitely intriguing.

The buildup to the next episodes began immediately and I guess we wont have any filler in this season so thats a good one. The way the writers gave every main character a new story so I guess we will see them break after 3 or 4 episodes!

It was kinda silly, but in a hilarious way just like season 1, some scenes just doesn't make send but thats whats special about omitb!

Selena gomez has her own charisma which add's to the show a lot!

Season 2 is back
moviesfilmsreviewsinc25 August 2022
In Only Murders in the Building season 1, our podcasters/detectives solved not one but two major crimes. However, another murder that occurred in the final moments immediately thrusts Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) back into the mystery fire. The Arconia's cranky board president Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell) lays dead in Mabel's apartment and "Persons of Interest" rejoins the series where it left off: with the trio in handcuffs. Before dealing with the fallout of this crime, the premiere opens with Charles waxing lyrical about New York City in a voiceover that mirrors the pilot. Reality quickly snaps into place and the fantasy of fame is replaced by the interrogation room. Detective Williams (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) and Detective Kreps (Michael Rapaport) question the three separately but are leaning toward Mabel as the prime suspect. This isn't a leap as Mabel was covered in Bunny's blood and talked about killing someone with a knitting needle in the first episode of their podcast (which is played back to her). Luckily for Mabel, they don't have enough evidence to charge her and they let slip that the still missing murder weapon isn't the knitting needle but a knife. Detective Williams has been more friend than foe in the past, so she warns them against following up their podcast with a sequel. "Please tell the tiny one to stop recording me," she hilariously warns when she notices Oliver's phone. They haven't been charged but are persons of interest. Given this position, it's hardly surprising Oliver and Charles are keen to hop back on the podcast train. Mabel does not share their enthusiasm. "I need a life away from death," she tells them. Whereas Oliver and Charles are giddy about the new mystery, Mabel must live with the image of Bunny's last moments. Later she admits she heard Bunny's final words that sounded like the number 14; however, a flashback to this moment reveals that she also said the word "Savage." As in Charles-Haden Savage? Is Mable's reluctance to dive back into the murder podcast biz because she is wary of her friend? It also doesn't help that she has to clean up the giant bloodstain on her hardwood floor and the hashtag "Bloody Mabel" is trending. While Mabel is trying to live her life, Charles is getting his career back on track. He takes a meeting regarding a Brazzos TV reboot but is disappointed he will be playing Uncle Brazzos. Elsewhere, Amy Schumer (playing a version of herself) has moved into Sting's former penthouse. Amy approaches Oliver regarding her plan to turn the podcast into a TV series and Oliver is keen to make this happen. All this has potential, but there are a lot of meta-references that could tip into annoying.

Adding Amy Schumer brought this down 3 stars
mr1121216 July 2022
Good you have the show back, with interesting enough details and good re-establishing and continuance of the story. Adding Shumer was just as unfunny as it was unnecessary.

Love this show
grlym-4684930 June 2022
This show is great. It has a wonderful light humour that rides alongside of the murder mystery if it all

I am hoping the Amy shiner character is not important, because I just fast forward through her scenes as I find her less than funny and more obnoxious. Hoping she is just name dropping filler like Sting was last season,..but even song managed to be better.

I dislike the "new Sting", nevertheless a good start
eunbi053028 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So Sting isn't in the show anymore, not really something that makes a difference, but why replace him for Amy Schumer? She makes zero effort to be a charismatic person, actually it seems she put negative effort for so unlikeable that she is. I'm aware that all episodes that she will be in, I will be automatically rating it a lower score only because I can't stand her.

Anyway, it was a good start, it didn't have a good hook from the get go, like season one, but I enjoyed last season, I hope this will be good again.

this episode proves that this is an exceptional show
Echo9-7130 June 2022
This is a great show. Ever since the first scene of the opening episode, I had the feeling this would be a special series. But it was this episode that really convinced me: I watched the whole thing even though Amy Schumer was in it. Seriously! The whole episode! I know! The first 14 minutes were great, and the last 20 were tolerable: somehow the writing and production was able to distract me from the fact that Amy Schumer was onscreen! Pure Hollywood magic!

Start Again
The premise of the second series of Only Murders in the Building was built into the previous season's finale: Mabel Mora (played by Selena Gomez) is found standing over the dead body of Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell), the iron-willed and widely disliked president of the apartment building. Mora is detained, as are her fellow amateur detectives and podcasters Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin) and Oliver Putnam (Martin Short). The trio are told to keep their noses out of the investigation and let the police do the work. Naturally, the hosts of Only Murders in the Building must do the exact opposite.

The overarching continuity of the plot is pleasing and promises a complex reveal, much like in the first season. The episode itself, however, has a few wrinkles:

At one point, Mabel spends a while washing blood off of her floors - in the dark, with the police forensics team, presumably, on strike. At another, the trio remove coats from Bunny's apartment just to wear those for a couple of minutes - to then what, show up in the dead woman's clothes in the public? Discard of them, while persons of interest in the murder investigation? (I shall happily eat my words if those coats turn out to have any kind of significance in future episodes. I am not too hopeful.) Changes in Selena Gomez's hairstyle break scene continuity. Cara Delevingne, a newcomer to the show, flirts but does not act. Sting's apartment is now occupied by Amy Schumer, who plays herself and is at the top of my personal Next Victim List.

All that said, the acting of the main and returning cast is great. The apartment interiors and the characters' wardrobes continue to be a delight - the same applies to the music choices. The opening is playful and, as previously, there are imaginative breaks from realist story-telling. In fact, it is the quality and precision associated with the show that make any foibles all the more irritating. Nevertheless, not a bad beginning. Let's see what's to follow.

Terrible casting
stasiacakes3 July 2022
Amy Schumer and Michael Rapaport are terrible choices and immediately decrease the quality of the show.

The show feels like it's going in a different direction from last season.

I hope Amy doesn't make too many appearances, or that's the end of the show for me.

Only murderers in the building!
Laqshayaroraofficial28 June 2022
This episode was really fun to watch, good storyline, comedy, great performance, I didn't like Tim kono's character in season 1, that's why didn't care much about his death and the last season was overrated if you ask me, only the finale episode was the one that I liked the most in season 1 but starting of season 2 is way more interesting and fun than season 1. Till now it's better than season 1.

Early in the episode, when Mable starts to clean the blood of the floor with the scrub brush pointing backwards. Then after the scene jump cuts, the brush is pointing forward. The first episode shows promise so we shall see....

A step back with C list celebs
fh_311 July 2022
Amy Schumer and Cara Delevingne in episode 1? Such a step back in at power. Or all the people they chose these two c-list celebs. Sad. Just sad. Hope it gets better.

Episode 201
bobcobb3018 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I echo the complaints of many about Amy Schumer. She brings nothing to this show.

I am excited for how the season will play out, but I am not crazy about the start.

Someone please explain this to me
Ziggy19654 July 2022
How come there is so much blood on the floor in one spot from Bunny's stabbing, yet no blood anywhere else from where she was walking in the apartment?

Bunny's shirt had no blood on it yet Mabel's top is filled with blood. Did she roll on the floor?

The apartment is a crime scene and I am surprised that someone was able to go in there so quickly after the fact.

The details in the writing is pretty off.

Slow Start to Season 2 - New Cast Disappointing
steve_in_houston4 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After season one ended on a high note, Season two is off to a sloooow start. New characters are introduced but the actors playing them are poor choices. Amy Schumer replaces Sting. A poor substitution. Schumer and Rapaport are painful to watch and bring the story to a standstill when on screen. Rapaport plays a police detective and has a scene where it seems every other word is an F bomb. Why? This episode is a bad omen for this season. Last season the episodes would fly by but this episode seems to drag on and on. Other than Bunny being killed, nothing happens.

The new suspects
AvionPrince168 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The events directly follow the events of season 1 and we try to figure it out what happened and how they will save mabel because thats clearly not her who killed the dead woman. Maybe yes or not? We dont know. But they are persons of interest know. And the investigations start to find the real murderer of Bunny. So we follow again our 3 heroes in this investigations. Each of them have new perspective for works and each try to live their own life. And our heroes discover a new detective who track them now. But they will try to discover the truth by their own ways and that make it more interesting to know how they will do it. But they will know more about a board who is really worth a lot of money and a secret piece in Bunny's appartment that make Bunny's murderer have a reason to kill her. Interesting.

Pretty slow start but it contain the developpment to make it more interesting in the next episodes. But its only the beginning for now. Still have some interest but need to see more. Sound good for now. We have also more revelations about Bunny and a board who worth a lot of money. We feel that they hold things for now and im really curious what they will show us in the next episodes and what surprises they will make for us.

Persons of Interest
Prismark1019 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The second series starts just as soon as the murder of Tim Kono was solved. Mabel was found with the bloodied body of Bunny Folger, the dragon like Arconia board head. She had earlier evicted Charles, Oliver, and Mabel.

All three return to the spotlight and are back in a police interrogation room. Now they have to clear their names but who would want to kill Bunny and why.

This was a fun opener but maybe spend a bit too long on the set up regarding continuing the podcast.

Still you had fun bits as Amy Schumer being Sting's replacement as a tenant.

Charles getting involved in the proposed reboot of Brazzos as Uncle Brazzos with the main character being his black niece. A gentle mocking of current reboots in the American television landscape.

It gathered momentum at the end. It was all to do with a valuable artwork and Charles father.

Still I expect this to be an enjoyable series as the first one.

Lost the magic
petercarlsson-9229730 June 2022
Has become boring and all over the place. Schumer was a bad choice, and will make the series even worse. Too bad, because series 1 was very good. Will not continue watching.

Was Really Looking Forward to Season 2 Lost Magic
dgasnow7 July 2022
Was Really Great Chemistry and Wonderful Writing during Season 1. But, seems to have lost it's magic plus bad Casting choices & chaotic storyline. Never liked Michael Rapaport since his short lived stint on Friends.

Oh God, not Cara...
SimonSaysSmallScreen14 August 2023
Cara Dele-wince must have a great agent to get her a gig with these real actors. The saving grace is that her character is supposed to pretending to be someone she's not. That is Cara's idea of acting, pretending to be someone else. Like she pretends to be an actor. But her eyes tell us she doesn't believe any of her own pretenses. And neither do we. What was the producers' thought process here? A "fresh face?" Maybe her model background would lend the right arrogance for the character? Maybe financing was involved? Well, maybe she won't be too distracting in the following episodes? I'm not too hopeful....
