Jenna Coleman had “avoided” playing a detective – until she was approached about playing rookie cop Ember Manning in a scenic lake town in Lancashire in North West England in BBC Studios’ The Jetty from creator and writer Cat Jones and Firebird Pictures.
“What appealed to me was that the character of Ember was completely there on page one,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Also, it’s a crime thriller, but it’s wrapped up in such a human, emotive, and poetic piece. It is crafted so it has all of the great things of a crime thriller – turning the page and having all of the beats. But it’s also such a feminine piece that really explores relationships and provokes. It has all sorts of blurred boundaries and is asking a lot of uncomfortable questions without fully answering them.”

Taylor Swift Changes Profile Pics to Black-and-White, Possibly Teasing reputation (Taylor’s Version)
Taylor Swift has changed all of her profile pictures across social media to black-and-white, prompting speculation that she may be teasing the release of reputation (Taylor’s Version). Update: After she won the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Swift made an unexpected announcement: she will be releasing a “brand new” album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19th.
The mysterious move was noticed on Sunday morning, when eagle-eyed Swifties reported that Swift’s profile pictures — a shot of her from the artwork of Midnights — were switched out for black-and-white versions. If Swifties’ cryptographic skills are on-point, this could be a reference to the black-and-white aesthetics of Swift’s 2017 release, reputation.
Backing Swifties’ case, there have been murmurs of a forthcoming reputation re-release for a few weeks. For starters, since the arrival of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) last October, reputation and Swift’s self-titled debut...

Oliver Jackson-Cohen starred in the Netflix anthology series The Haunting of Hill House in 2018, which gave him a global platform.
The actor is now reflecting how fame can be so ephemeral in the streaming era of television.
“[Being] Netflix famous…It’s quite an interesting thing,” Jackson-Cohen told The Independent in a recent interview. “You’re the most famous person in the world for a while and then the next show comes along and that completely takes over.”
Jackson-Cohen would star in a second season of the Mike Flanagan anthology series titled The Haunting of Bly Manor in 2020. The actor said that following the success of the shows, he started receiving scripts that were “all the same thing, just watered-down, less good versions” of the series he had starred in.

Opening credits never really went away (think of the slow-mo demolition of “The Good Fight”), but they are definitely having a moment.
“I really love title sequences,” “Chucky” showrunner Don Mancini told IndieWire. “ I lament the loss of titles. I just love the ritualistic value of them.”
When correctly deployed, opening credit sequences can do some heavy lifting for TV shows. The best title credit sequences set the tone for the show, hint at what’s to come, and, depending on when they’re used, underscore what just happened in the cold open. But in the wake of streaming upheavals and changes to how we consume content, they’ve been missing more and more. Or skipped more and more, depending on the options of a given platform.

Following decades in television and film, including stints as a producer, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker, Yoshiyuki Kishi made his feature directorial debut in 2016, aged 52, with Double Life, attracting some international festival attention.
He returned the following year with the ambitious Wilderness, based on the only novel by Shuji Terayama. Taylor Swift announced the official release date for "1989 (Taylor's Version)" this August, but some fans have their eyes on what they think will be the next rerecording after that: "Reputation (Taylor's Version)." Fans got a small preview of one of the album's songs when a snippet of "Delicate (Taylor's Version)" surfaced from a season two episode of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" on Aug. 3, indicating that the rerecorded version is definitely in progress. And on Aug. 23, Amazon Prime Video released the trailer for its upcoming series "Wilderness," and it features the first snippet of "Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor's Version)."
However, fans may still have to wait a while for the album, as Ed Sheeran - who appears on the track "End Game" on the original "Reputation" - revealed this summer that he hadn't yet been back to the studio to work on the new version. In an Aug.

Everyone’s talking about Amazon’s new revenge thriller series, Wilderness. Adapted from the bestselling novel of the same name by B.E. Jones, and starring Jenna Coleman, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ashley Benson, and Eric Balfour, Wilderness landed on the streamer just in time for the rainy season and made a splash thanks to its complex heroin and dark subject matter.
Wilderness follows Liv Taylor (Coleman) as she tries to cope with finding out that her dashing husband Will (Jackson-Cohen) is cheating on her. After marrying Will and choosing to leave her old life in England behind so that they can move to America to advance Will’s career, Liv then snaps when their dream life together falls apart.
Having been raised by a toxic, narcissistic mother, and therefore having entered adulthood as a people-pleaser, Liv cannot bear that she simply wasn’t enough for the one person she was finally able to feel vulnerable with,...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for the limited series “Wilderness,” now streaming on Prime Video.
Laced into the scripts of Amazon Prime Video’s new limited series “Wilderness” are the blueprints of a vast revenge saga set against the backdrop of America’s National Parks. But among those finer points, writer and creator Marnie Dickens also embedded the songs she envisions playing alongside the action. A curated playlist for retribution, if you will.
Based on the book by B.E. Jones, “Wilderness” follows Liv (Jenna Coleman), a British expat living in New York City, who learns her charming husband Will (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) has been having an affair essentially since they touched down on American soil. Shaken by the resurfaced trauma of her father’s own infidelity, Liv begins plotting to kill her husband when they embark on a delayed honeymoon road trip through America’s natural wonders like Yosemite and the Grand Canyon.

[Editor's Note: This post contains major spoilers for Wilderness on Prime Video.]
Prime Video's Wilderness establishes itself as a textbook "woman scorned" story right out of the gate. Even before viewers learn that the charismatic Will (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) has been cheating on his new wife Liv (Jenna Coleman), her melodramatic voiceover explains exactly where she went wrong in their marriage: Liv made the mistake of thinking it was "safe" to drop the act and be herself around a man. As they drive off in a vintage convertible, surrounded by the canyons of the American West, the first few notes of Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor's Version)" ring out, making for the perfect soundtrack to Liv's quest for revenge.
Prime Video's Wilderness establishes itself as a textbook "woman scorned" story right out of the gate. Prime Video’s new thriller series Wilderness is already making a splash by having a truly great bop as its theme tune in Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’, but there’s much more to enjoy here than that. The raunchy show follows a young writer called Liv, whose dream life with her handsome and wealthy husband falls apart when they move stateside and she catches him cheating on her. Their “make or break” dream holiday is set to crumble into a nightmare, albeit a scenic one, when Liv sets out to get her revenge.
The cast of Wilderness may be small, but it’s stacked with notable actors, some of whom might seem very familiar to you. If you can’t remember where you’ve seen them before, or just want to know more about them, we’re here to help!

Well, just call Liv Taylor Annalise Keating because she got away with murder.
Actually, Analise never killed anyone, so that's not a great comparison, but you get the point! She outsmarted the system! She outsmarted her husband! She spit in the name of authority! And blah, blah, blah.
Will succeeded in finally breaking Liv beyond repair during Wilderness Season 1 Episode 6, and she decided the only way out was to frame him for the crime she committed.
Wilderness was filled with terrible people from top to bottom.
People who weren't afraid to hurt others, showed little remorse, and doubled down on their terribleness when given the chance.
I was a little surprised Cara's death was blamed on Garth, but his unhinged jaunt to the Taylor residence did him no favors. Putting the guilty verdict on him really meant that Liv and Will had the chance to move forward.

Well, that did not go how I expected.
As predictable as this series has been in certain ways, Wilderness Season 1 Episode 5 was anything but, as Liv fought for her life.
And just like that, she had another body to her name.
Considering everything going on, Liv kept it together as best she could. And all Caryl's arrival did was up her anxiety.
Will's desire to move on like nothing happened was tiring to both Liv and myself because it was pathetic and annoying. This need to portray themselves as being in this still perfect marriage for Caryl was one thing, but his incessant need to talk about how he would change was too much.
Maybe it worked on Liv at one time, but as the depths of his lies came out, Liv shrank further and further away from him.
I can't quite figure out why Will is so obsessed with his marriage and Liv,...

Ah, let the mad dash to cover your tracks begin!
Liv and Will had to figure out what came next, no matter how badly Liv wanted to drown herself in a bottle of tequila and drink the night away.
And once they returned to the Big Apple on Wilderness Season 1 Episode 4, they found out just how important it would be for them to fake a united front with the cops slowly closing in.
Liv and Will weren’t going to stay on the West Coast forever, but they still made sure to hit Vegas before going home. And the trip was fraught with unbelievable tension.
In the aftermath of everything that transpired at Yosemite, Liv was spiraling, and with her conscience weighing her down, she decided to deal with it by not dealing with it. Drinking and dancing seemed like healthy alternatives for at least a little while until the...

For a second there, it looked like Liv would get away with attempted murder and hang onto her philandering husband. And she was going to be perfectly Okay with that.
Liv's emotions change like the wind, and we got a front-row seat to those conflicting feelings during Wilderness Season 1 Episode 3.
It's easy to see things getting more complicated for her from here on out, not easier. Death often brings out many secrets people wish could be buried, too.
Cara being the one who took the plunge wasn't surprising, but what was surprising was the fact that she lived at first.
That kind of fall and the amount of time she was out there alone seemed like a death sentence, but she somehow made it, and to even be talking a few hours later was shocking. Once they decided to have her live, they should have just followed through.

What did you do, Liv?
Liv has taken her lumps over the weeks since she found out her husband was a fraud, and while she had some murderous thoughts, she refrained from fully going There. Until now.
Wilderness Season 1 Episode 2 saw Liv hit the point of no return. She's officially got a body to her name.
Liv is so diabolical, but she keeps it under wraps and is a terrific actress, unlike Will, who might as well have cheater stamped across his forehead.
When Cara made her slow-motion entrance, Will lost about ten years off his life, while Liv looked like she'd genuinely never seen that woman before in her life.
Cara and Garth's appearance clearly wasn't something Will expected, and when he's put out or doesn't feel like he has a grasp on a situation, his demeanor changes, and he shrinks in on himself.

Imagine having what you believe is a picture-perfect marriage, only to realize you're basically living a lie.
Liv Taylor found this out the hard way on Wilderness Season 1 Episode 1 as she discovered the man she married wasn't who she thought he was. Namely, he was a lying liar who lies and a cheater to boot.
And just leaving him and moving on with her life wasn't going to do. She wanted to take matters into her own hands, and she had a lot of open road to do so.
The Wilderness pilot was all about introducing us to the Taylor's and setting up what's sure to be a twisted-filled season.
The plot isn't groundbreaking, as we can all name several television series revolving around cheating spouses and revenge tours over the years. And for that reason, you have to buy into the leads to keep yourself interested and intrigued enough...

The opening shot of Amazon’s Wilderness features a disproportionately huge spider — probably, for thematic reasons, a black widow, but I’m not an arachnologist — tentatively starting across a stretch of asphalt leading out to a picturesque Southwestern vista.
So why did the black widow cross the road?
We’ll never know, because within two seconds, the spider is squished — don’t worry, representatives of People for the Ethical Treatment of Spiders, it’s clearly CG — by the powder-blue vintage Ford Mustang carrying Liv (Jenna Coleman) and Will (Oliver Jackson-Cohen).
Reader, I laughed. Hard. At least half of why I chose to review this six-episode adaptation of B.E. Jones’ novel is because the opening five seconds portended something appealing pulpy and silly, perhaps in a good way.
And you know what? For maybe three episodes, Wilderness comes close to being the show I wanted it to be. It probably isn’t “good,...

It’s no accident that Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” plays over the opening credits of Prime Video’s new limited series Wilderness. The song, which appears in its rerecorded version, came at the suggestion of writer-producer Marnie Dickens, who felt that the vengeful lyrics mirrored the show’s storyline perfectly.
“Marnie wrote that song into the script for Episode Two, but then Prime asked Marnie if there was a young female artist she wanted [over the credits],” recalls So Yong Kim, who directed all six episodes. “Of course she said Taylor Swift.

Frank Murray, the company’s head of scripted U.K. and pan-English production, has stepped down after two years in the role.
Murray, who oversaw the studio’s U.K. production output, plans to launch a transatlantic production label, which will be based in both London and New York.

A woman scorned is danger to all, and that’s especially true in Wilderness, a roller-coaster series told from the perspective of adoring wife Liv (Victoria’s Jenna Coleman). We quickly learn that her perfect marriage to charming fellow Brit Will (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) is not as idyllic as she thought. After discovering his affair with colleague Cara (Ashley Benson), Liv is furious. Will, trying to do damage control, offers to take Liv on the “trip of a lifetime”—two weeks exploring America’s National Parks. She agrees to go, even though Will’s lies just keep compounding. Soon, her thoughts turn murderous. “Liv faces a terrible battle between her love for Will and her desire to gain revenge,” executive producer Elizabeth Kilgarriff says of the drama based on B.E. Jones’ 2019 novel. “Whichever choice she makes, she’ll be the one who suffers the most.” Ashley Benson as Cara And...
