Writer/co-director Thomas Edward Seymour said in an interview that though actor Sheri Lynn is listed as co-writer, she functioned more as an editor cleaning up his messy grammar and tweaking a few scenes.
When looking for ideas for their next film, co-director Jonathan Gorman said he and co-director Thomas Edward Seymour talked about trying to find a classic work that was in the public domain and was not too overdone. Seymour remembered reading Rudyard Kipling's Mark of the Beast years before and felt it would be perfect. They decided to modernize the story and blur the time period in order to make it work within their budgetary constraints.
Thomas Edward Seymour said they filmed the movie at a friend's mother-in-laws. It was a camp of sorts with cabins, a pond, and a forest. It was perfect because they didn't have to waste large amounts of time driving around to change locations.
