Life’s a beach and then someone dies in Slaughter Beach, a low budget horror-comedy slasher from the crew at Clockout Films. Last week, the film’s official premiere was hosted by Delco Horror Haven, a new non-profit horror organization dedicated to supporting indie horror in the greater Philadelphia area.
Director Daniel C. Davis (Same Dance) takes a different approach with his take on the serial killer subgenre. When two underachievers are unable to land jobs due to a serial killer ruining their beach town’s tourism and economy, the duo become low rent superhero crime fighters to end the murderer’s reign of terror. Ralph (Jon McKoy) and Barry (Ethan Han) develop their new personas, Awesome Boy and Bludgeon Man respectively, to form the Defender Benders and clean up the streets in their Bender Mobile.

Pennywise is back! However, instead of wearing the scary make-up and clown outfit, Bill Skarsgard is on the hunt for revenge in this new and exciting thriller. Below is the official synopsis for Boy Kills World: Bill Skarsgård stars as “Boy” who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf, and voiceless. Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Yayan Ruhian) to become an instrument of

Lawyers for Sean “Diddy” Combs filed a motion to dismiss some of the claims in a sexual assault lawsuit that accused the Bad Boy rapper of revenge porn.
The lawsuit, one of three filed against the rapper in November 2023 ahead of the expiration of the Adult Survivors Act, claimed that after Combs took the then-19-year-old woman to dinner at a Harlem restaurant in January 1991, he drove her to a recording studio, where she claims she was unable to exit the vehicle because she had been intentionally drugged by Combs,...

Five-plus years following the launch of his film financing and production company, Hammerstone Studios, producer Alex Lebovici finds himself at “a big turning point.” After working for years on “building block” projects that held little to no interest for him on the level of story, he’s been able of late to assemble an increasingly packed studio slate, devoting himself solely to making the “fun, commercial, star-driven films” he likes to watch.
Breaking out in September 2022 with the buzzy horror thriller Barbarian, underscoring the company’s commitment to fresh genre fare with big, original ideas, Hammerstone is looking to recapture the zeitgeist this weekend with Boy Kills World, an action thriller starring Barbarian‘s Bill Skarsgård. Directed by Moritz Mohr, the film has him playing Boy, who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that...

Netflix just got a touch more supernatural with the arrival of “Dead Boy Detectives” where the veil between the worlds thins. This chilling new series isn’t a typical detective show. Based on the DC characters by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, the series involves restless spirits, vengeful demons, and the occasional existential crisis – all tackled by a most unusual duo: a pair of teenage ghosts.

Bill Skarsgård goes on a violent murder spree in Moritz Mohr’s superbly gory action thriller. Here’s our Boy Kills World review.
Gore is not for everyone. That goes without saying, but I’m a big fan of bloody spectacle. There’s just something very appealing about limbs getting torn off, heads spinning and blood covering every inch of the screen.
Which is exactly why I loved Boy Kills World, Moritz Mohr’s exceptionally stylish and gory new action thriller. If gore is not your thing, you prefer substance over style, you may want to take this review with a grain of salt.
The film follows Boy, a deaf-mute man played by Bill Skarsgård, who plots revenge against the Van Der Koy family who murdered his own kin via their yearly Hunger Games-style televised event. He can’t speak, but Boy does have a particularly animated inner voice,...

In Season of Mists, the fourth volume of The Sandmancomics series, Neil Gaiman penned a ghost story set in a British boarding school to demonstrate the problems being caused by Lucifer’s plan to get back at Dream. Gaiman liked the characters enough that he brought them back for a Vertigo Comics crossover event, and they wound up receiving their own spin-off comic from Toby Litt and Mark Buckingham.
Now, the Dead Boy Detectives are receiving their own show from Steve Yockey and Beth Schwartz. Set in the same universe as The Sandman, this series follows all the zany thrills and heartwarming moments of Charles (Jayden Revri) and Edwin’s (George Rexstrew) adventures solving supernatural mysteries that no one else can, with the help of clairvoyant Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and new friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura).
“Charles was more or less me as a boy,” executive producer and Sandman author Gaiman tells Tudum.

In theory, Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives should be a feast for the misery wraiths, faceless creatures who feed on pain and suffering. The ghostly protagonists, Edwin (George Rexstrew) and Charles (Jayden Revri), are both teenagers bullied to death at the same British boarding school seven decades apart. They spend their time finding closure for other lost souls, like a pair of high schoolers cut down in their prime or a family slaughtered by an abusive patriarch. And they’re constantly on the run from the agents of Death, who would condemn Edwin to Hell on a technicality.
Yet the duo only ever encounter one such monster over the eight-episode first season, and perhaps that’s because despite its gloomy-sounding premise, Dead Boy Detectives is the furthest thing from dour. Dark, sure; bittersweet, sometimes. But it’s never less than entertaining, thanks to an appealingly quirky lead cast and a cheeky sense of humor.

There’s nothing worse in this world than the rat race.
I bet when you learned there was a sequel to last year’s The Cult Of That Wilkin Boy, a story about the cult-like fandom surrounding a massive pop star, you probably weren’t envisioning an Office Space-type story to be at the heart of its sequel. Okay, that’s not entirely accurate, either, but there are definitely some points made about the literal soul-sucking nature of paperwork, legal red tape, and working for the man.
Office Space itself might not be a horror movie, but so many of us can relate to the horrors of the rigamarole of working life. Of cubicles, deadlines, pesky co-workers, the onslaught of emails—sure, it may all sound like very first-world, 21st-century problems, but they’re ubiquitous enough that so many can relate. Moritz Mohr’s Boy Kills World is what happens when you toss The Hunger Games, Mortal Kombat, Happy!, and Crank into a blender. While that sounds rad, the slurry of upbeat action and nonsense plot tangles is much more baffling in execution. Mohr’s vision borrows heavily from button-mashy videogames and dystopian graphic novels, blending Cyberpunk futurism with real-world dictatorship commentaries. There’s a message about fascism and rebellion somewhere in Mohr’s madcap martial arts violence, but it’s lost under the piles of enemy corpses. Boy Kills World never knows the movie it wants to be past a killing spree, as the story makes one poor choice after the next, like a genre satire that becomes what it tries to parody.

Perks are one of the many elements of what makes up Bethesda’s popular video game title, Fallout 4. Despite being released nearly a decade ago, this game is still where a lot of gamers tend to head to as it was the last title that acted as a sequel to the storyline. Its long-lasting legacy with a tightly knit together community has also caused many theories of the game to surface over the years.
Fallout 4 came out back in 2015
One particular speculation that has been stuck around ever since the beginning is how there is possibly a whole underwater civilization present that players are supposed to know nothing about. While many claim this is just a wild hunch that gets tossed around every once in a while, some claim there are hints in-game hinting at the existence of such a city.

As if taking his older brother Alexander’s hulking, muscular presence in Robert Eggers’s The Northman as a personal challenge, Bill Skarsgård cuts an imposing figure in Moritz Mohr’s Boy Kills World. Every bit as jacked up as a professional wrestler, Skarsgård looks the part of a man hell-bent on revenge against Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the dictator who hosts an annual televised event in the film’s post-apocalyptic landscape known as The Culling, which claimed the lives of our hero’s family when he was a child.
Given his brawniness and the relentlessly brutal means with which he trains for his vendetta in the forest with the help of an Asian shaman (Yayan Ruhian), it’s more than a little dissonant that our deaf-mute protagonist, Boy, has his inner thoughts expressed in voiceover by H. Will the new emotions in "Inside Out 2" impress voters?
Last season, we finally saw another hand drawn film take the Best Animated Feature Oscar with The Boy and the Heron emerging triumphant. Will we have another rarity this year or will Oscar voters return to their Pixar and/or American CG habits? Each year we root for the underdogs in this category since great studios like Laika and Cartoon Saloon have yet to take home an Oscar. Sadly, neither of those companies will have a film ready this year. Still, we'll dream that it will prove a truly competitive year no matter what emerges. That always makes it more exciting.

For several years now, Quentin Tarantino has been adamant that he plans to make a single 10th and final movie — which will no longer be The Movie Critic. Some of his fans were relieved when this news broke yesterday. The Movie Critic originally sounded like a nostalgic character study (“more epilogue-y,” as Tarantino once put it), while his fans particularly love the director’s more pulply, genre-driven fair. The result would have almost certainly been great. But would it have been great enough to be Tarantino’s last film?
More details about this decision are likely still to come. Still, one wonders: Would Tarantino have abandoned the movie if there wasn’t so much riding on it? His many statements about quitting film directing have suggested he’s extremely focused on protecting his legacy, which seems like a downright masochistic way of putting an enormous amount pressure on yourself. “Dom (Home in Russian),” “Quir” and “Iceman” look like potential standouts at Swiss Films Previews, the only spread of national movies at Switzerland’s Visions du Réel, the country’s leading doc festival.
Presented via excerpts at a two-hour showcase on Wednesday, three further titles – “Kalari – the Martial Art of Female Power,” “The Boy from the River Drina” and “Spheres” – underscored the strength in depth of documentary filmmaking in Switzerland and at least in this year’s Previews, a leitmotif. In an era of adverse circumstance, the doc features highlight figures who rebel, whether against Russia’s war on the Ukraine (“Dom”), climate change (“Iceman”), homophobia in Palermo, gender violence (“Kalari”), the Srebrenica massacre (“Boy”) or, in the case of Daniel Zimmermann, director of “Spheres,” stock narrative.

TV is not looking too shabby this week, not too shabby at all. BBC One has the second series of excellent Belfast-set crime drama Blue Lights, all episodes of which are available to stream on iPlayer now. Over on Netflix is excellent seven-part drama Baby Reindeer, an uncomfortably honest dramatisation of creator Richard Gadd’s real-life experience of being stalked. On Prime Video, there’s Fallout, which continues The Last of Us‘ trend of being a videogame-to-tv adaptation that’s actually, you know, good. Also on Netflix is moody, intoxicating psychological thriller Ripley, adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s The Talented Mr Ripley and starring Andrew Scott.
As well as all that, here’s a big look ahead to the new British drama coming up in 2024 and a whisper in your ear to watch Wunmi Mosaku in creepy new Brit mystery Passenger on ITV1, which is well worth a look.

Being the current representative of the Hollywood action hero community, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has always stayed an arm’s length away from the villainous WWE persona that gave him his first taste of recognition and fame. But after a lengthy sabbatical and a worse-for-wear stretch in Hollywood, his eventual return to the ring was perhaps inevitable, and as such, one of the lesser brow-raising points of his career.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the Final Boss [Credit: WWE]What did however seduce an already fascinated audience was the former People’s Champion’s resurrection as a heel, his readiness to brutality, and the sheer perverse enjoyment that he has (seemingly) derived from it. The Rock’s new persona, if not anything else, only proves how severely Hollywood messed up by exiling his evil façade in favor of a generic burly everyman hero obsessed with one-man rescue missions through tsunamis and earthquakes.

A ravaged post-apocalyptic wasteland, like the one in the "Fallout" video game franchise, is like a minefield waiting to explode. Treacherous terrains, radioactive water bodies, aggressive wastelanders, and mutated insects are just some of the dangers that await any explorer, and "Fallout" relies on one in-game mechanic to immerse players into its dynamic open worlds. A Pip-Boy, short for Personal Information Processor, acts as a diegetic tool in every "Fallout" title, where everything from inventory management to a specialized targeting combat system (known as V.A.T.S) is embedded within this portable wrist computer. Although Pip-Boys were originally issued to vault dwellers, their usage spread to the surface, where several Free State inhabitants relied on them for survival and navigation. A problem with adapting a popular work of fiction to a different medium is the desire to encompass everything, even what isn't in the source material. Sometimes this translates into good choices that take advantage of the new format and hindsight, like "One Piece" giving Garp a bigger role much earlier than the manga. Of course, this can also lead to unnecessary additions like showing the Air Nomad genocide in the live-action "Avatar: The Last Airbender."
Thankfully, the "Fallout" TV show is more like the former than the latter. This is a show that takes what makes the video games so special and popular — namely, its world — and tells an original story within it. That allows the show to be canon to the "Fallout" universe without stepping on the toes of any one game or retconning player choices. There are plenty of references to the games and characters that share...

For his debut film, Night Shoot, writer/director/actor Taylor Katsanis mixes things up a little by taking a plot that dates back to the original found footage film Cannibal Holocaust, a group of filmmakers finds they’ve gotten themselves into a situation they may not be able to get out of, and filming it conventionally. With found footage still making good use of the plot in films like The Glenarma Tapes, can Night Shoot compete?

Boy Kills World looks like it is going to hit that weak spot that I have for outrageous and ultra violent action cinema. It might be dumb as dirt but I'll let that slide if it gives me over the top, well-choreographed bloodshed. From the looks of this new red-band trailer it's going to do that. Skarsgård stars as "Boy" who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless. Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Ruhian) to become an instrument of death and is set loose on the eve...

It was an unbelievable scene as federal investigators raided Sean Combs’ Los Angeles and Miami homes Monday, with helicopters hovering above and uniformed officials marching inside the stately grounds to emerge with multiple, large boxes.
The Department of Homeland Security was behind the simultaneous coast-to-coast raids, carrying out a warrant reportedly issued by the Department of Justice — Southern District of New York. A source previously told Rolling Stone that four Jane Does and one John Doe already sat for interviews with Sdny investigators for a probe into Combs related to alleged sex trafficking and racketeering.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was the recent addition to one of the most beloved superhero series in recent times. Not only did it manage to maintain the hype of the first film, it also outdid it perfectly, not only setting up iconic characters for the next film but also telling an excellent story in a visually stunning manner.

With an Academy Award and Japan Academy Film Prize under its belt, Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron is getting more showings in Japan with a huge expansion set later this week that includes screenings of the English dub of the film across Japan. Before then though, that didn’t stop people from rushing out and seeing the latest from Studio Ghibli over the last week, giving the film two new milestones on its bird belt. As of March 17, The Boy and the Heron has made 9.08 billion yen (US$63.55 million) at the Japanese box office with 6.12 million tickets sold. Since the film’s last major placing in the charts in September 2023, this newest update–which has the film passing 9 billion yen!–has brought the Miyazaki feature up 15 places on the all-time charts, putting it at 64th place and less than 100 million yen behind Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith...

While One Piece will be keeping Iñaki Godoy busy for probably the next decade, that didn’t stop DC fandom from fan-casting him into another perfect role. Godoy could easily play Beast Boy, one of the founding members of the Teen Titans. While many fans could connect the actor’s persona with One Piece‘s Luffy, the charming actor could also convince his audience as a shape-changing teen titan. However, one major problem could prevent this fan-casting from becoming a reality.
Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece Live-Action
If Beast Boy were to become a part of James Gunn’s new Dcu, the character may not have a major arc in the universe. However, Iñaki Godoy is already a star playing Luffy, and any downgrade from that will be a gross injustice to his star power.

I did not have Jonathan Groff singing “Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jana Sanam” on my 2024 bingo card. The Broadway actor humbly steps into Indian culture in Roshan Sethi’s “A Nice Indian Boy,” which repeatedly connects back to Aditya Chopra’s “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” — the film that originated “Tujhe Dekha”.
Written by Eric Randall (and based on Madhuri Shekar’s play), “A Nice Indian Boy” is all about subverting stereotypes about Indian culture, both within and outside of the community. The title itself is a cheeky twist on every aunty’s favorite refrain: that when a girl is of the right age, she or her family will find her a “nice Indian boy” to settle down with.
This time, however, protagonist Naveen (Karan Soni) is the one planning to bring home a nice Indian boy, which is probably not what all those aunties were picturing. But “A Nice Indian Boy” delights in defying expectations,...

To say that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was great would be a major understatement, as it greatly impacted how major studios perceived 3D animation. Following its impeccable quality, accompanied by a great story, arguably the best of all Spider-Man features. the Shameik Moore-led film was deservedly awarded the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
And with its sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, being on par with the first one, it seemed like another Academy win awaited the IP, but it fell inches short of Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron. Reacting to this loss, lead star Moore took to social media to share a one-word response “Robbed”, which landed him in hot waters, and the actor has finally broken his silence amidst the backlash.

The Wilson family has experienced an exciting 24 hours. As Russell Wilson and Ciara walked the red carpet at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars Party, the couple confirmed Wilson’s forthcoming one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The agreement, expected to become official on Wednesday, comes on the heels of the quarterback’s release from the Broncos. Denver will continue to pay the 35-year-old $37.79 million next season despite his exit.
While NFL fans pondered what this move means for all parties involved, Wilson and Ciara partied the night away at the Oscars event hosted by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Radhika Jones. Many of the couple’s fans say Ciara stole the show despite the football-related announcement.

Arguably the biggest surprise at the 2024 Oscars occurred when Poor Things‘ Emma Stone won best actress over Killers of the Flower Moon‘s Lily Gladstone. While both delivered lauded performances and had won precursor awards during a close race this season, Gladstone was many high-profile Oscar pundits’ pick for most likely to win, having notably taken the SAG Award for best actress. However, Stone did win the BAFTA award for best actress; Gladstone wasn’t nominated.
Still, Gladstone is far from the first actor to lose the Oscar despite winning the SAG Award, a list that includes Denzel Washington (Fences), Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation), Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) and Viola Davis twice (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and The Help).
After Gladstone’s loss, Killers director Martin Scorsese was spotted consoling his star and giving her a big hug.

At the Oscars 2024, there was a big surprise when The Boy and the Heron, the last animated movie by Hayao Miyazaki, beat out the hyped-up Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. People were scratching their heads, wondering why. Some folks even got into arguments about what makes a movie worthy of an award.

Luke Hemmings Is a Fountain of Existentialism on His New Single — And He Doesn’t Want to Turn It Off
It’s not often that Luke Hemmings finds himself on his own. For the better part of the past 12 years, the 27-year-old singer and songwriter has shared the stage with his three bandmates in 5 Seconds of Summer. The Australian pop-rock band has built its career around being a relentless touring act, playing to thousands-deep audiences on nearly back-to-back runs in support of five studio albums. Four years ago, when that cycle was interrupted for the first time, Hemmings retreated into himself.

On Sunday at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek, an admittedly inebriated Swardson, 47, was removed from the stage to the sounds of an angry crowd booing him after he stammered through what appeared to be a nonsensical opening during his headlining appearance. On Tuesday, the Grandma’s Boy actor issued a statement about the incident.
“Just casually woke up on TMZ,” he wrote on X, referencing the news website’s article about the tanked performance. “Travel tip: don’t drink and take edibles in high altitude. F—ing brain diarrhea. I’ll make it up to you Beaver Creek!”
The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to representatives of Swardson for further comment on the incident,...

Refresh for latest: Oppenheimer continued its romp through awards season by winning the top film prize at the American Society of Cinematographers’ 38th annual ASC Awards, which were handed out Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton. See the winners list below.
Hoyte van Hoytema won for Oppenheimer, which is up for Best Cinematography at the Oscars next weekend. He will vie against the same quartet he beat for the ASC prize: Edward Lachman for El Conde, Matthew Libatique for Maestro, Rodrigo Prieto for Killers of the Flower Moon and Robbie Ryan, Poor Things (Searchlight).
The group’s film winner has gone on to claim the Academy Award nearly half of the time — 17 times in its 37 years — but not last year. Mandy Walker won the ASC’s top film prize in 2023, but the Academy Award went to James Friend for All Quiet on the Western Front.
