ITV's new three-part drama Bouquet Of Barbed Wire debuted to more than 5.2m viewers on Monday night, according to the latest audience data. The programme, which stars Trevor Eve in a remake of the 1970s psychological drama about a father's obsessive love for his daughter, averaged 4.99m (19.9%) on ITV1 from 9pm and 210k (0.8%) on ITV1 HD. Bouquet Of Barbed Wire just outperformed Who Do You Think You Are?, after the genealogy programme took 4.91m (19.6%) on BBC One in the 9pm hour. Earlier on ITV1, Countrywise pulled in 3.77m (15%) from 7.30pm, down 330k week-on-week. At the start of the day, Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley's new breakfast show Daybreak averaged 980k (24.2%) for ITV1 between 6am and 8.30am. Hermione Norris has admitted that she felt "awful" when she filmed some love scenes for Bouquet Of Barbed Wire. Norris, who plays Cassie, told What's On TV that she didn't particularly enjoy shooting romantic moments with Tom Riley (Gavin). "I felt awful, more like his mother!" she said. "I said to him, 'I'm sorry about this darling!' In my job you just have to close your eyes, hold your nose and jump in." Norris added that she hasn't seen the original version of Bouquet Of Barbed Wire but admitted that she was slightly concerned about comparisons. "We had to be careful," she said. (more)...
