Blackfin will focus on producing original, character-driven docu-series and sports related content for cable and digital networks, Geno McDermott and Joanne Inglott said today. McDermott will serve as CEO with Inglott as Partner and Executive Producer for current programming. Alexa Conway also is on board as partner and Executive in Charge of Production. McDermott most recently served as creator and executive producer of Cold River Cash for Animal Planet. Previously, he had an overall deal with Zodiak New York where he created, developed and sold straight-to-series a yet to be announced NatGeo docu-series. McDermott has produced character-driven programming for History, Discovery, Nat Geo, Esquire, and Food Network. Exclusive: TruTV has renewed one of its top series, All Worked Up, for a third season and has greenlighted a spinoff series, Lizard Lick Towing, which centers on two of the breakout characters on the show - Ron and Amy Shirley of the North Carolina Lizard Lick towing and repo company. All Worked Up has received a 13-episode order while Lizard Lick Towing has been picked up for 6 episodes. Both series, from Zodiak USA (formerly Rdf USA), are targeted for an early 2011 launch. All Worked Up features a recurring cast of workers who get constantly yelled yet as they do their duties: from repossessing property to delivering court papers. Marc Juris, Evp and general manager of truTV called the docu-series "a really good place to incubate talent."
