This episode/ending ALWAYS has me in tears! You never get used to it! The emotions just go through the roof! Rengoku became such a great character in such a short time, and this finale fight with Akaza is just.. legendary!

Animation and soundtrack INCREDIBLE!

When you know you know

What an episode man...this episode is the best episode of season 2 so far...the animation is simply amazing, the level of storytelling is simply out of this world. Rengoku is definitely a fan favourite for a reason, and seeing him finally set his heart ablaze was really something special to see. A really amazing episode that deserves a way better rating than 9.7 for sure.

Goodbye rengoku

Warning: Spoilers
Even when I know the end of this chapter, from the movie, yes I cried again like a baby , we didn't see rengoku too much in the anime but His death is impressive , respect for him to reject the demon's request.

Surpassed the manga and movie.

Unstoppable goosebumps at the end, and it was worth it. The flame hashira.... KYOJIRO RENGOKU..... 😔. Though the entry of akaza was a flaw of storytelling, but this standalone episode was a mixture of goosebumps and emotions at the same time. A new journey begins. Without any doubt one of the best anime eps of all time.

This. Freaking. Show/Movie.

How did the writers do it? We saw just a few small glimpses into Kyogyro's character before the movie, yet they did such an amazing job at making us all feel like we lost a main character. I am not a crier at all but the scene where Tanjiro is screaming at Akaza running away and Tanjiro's conversation with Kyogyro even had me tearing up. I truly believe Demon Slayer will go down as an all time great and episodes like this are why. So incredibly excited to see what next season brings.

The animation was superb. The fight scenes were excellent. This was amazing storytelling. I don't know how they could top themselves. I felt the pain of the loss of such a heroic character.

Peak Demon Slayer
liammc-7327431 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The prevailing theme in this episode and this arc as a whole is the sheer power of protective instinct. Illustrations of the strength and influence of familial bonds continue to be the most effective and emotional material in the series. The death of Rengoku's mother inspired him while simultaneously breaking his father. The tragic situation coupled with ensuing abuse from his drunkard father reinforced the bond between Rengoku and his brother. The way that flashback was delivered really fleshed out Rengoku's character and his motivations (those who are blessed with gifts should feel obligated to use them to serve those less fortunate).

Rengoku's moral victory deeply affects Tanjiro, as their character motivations are so similar. The difference is that Rengoku is effectively shown to be a stronger and more mature role model for Tanjiro. His protective instinct was inspired directly by his sickly mother's wishes while Tanjiro's was inspired by the fear of losing the last of his family. Witnessing Rengoku's tragic end, we see Tanjiro completely give in to his frustration for the first time in the series. He's tortured by his powerlessness in the situation, and furious with Akaza for fleeing the scene after preaching about his deep love of combat. While Rengoku succeeds in saving every passenger on the Mugen train, this is the first time our protagonists experience a crushing defeat. It was definitely the most raw and gut-wrenching moment of the show so far, and was honestly better than the already exceptional Hinokami for me (no deus ex-machina technique appearances for the protagonists, and no "fake out" deaths for the antagonist).

This episode consisted of the most impressive animation I've ever seen, and the return of the Hinokami OST really tied everything together. Episodes like this are Demon Slayer at it's best. Incredible combat scenes, compelling character dynamics, and raw emotion heightened by superb animation and a moving score that sends shivers down my spine. It's an easy 10/10, and probably the best episode of the entire show so far.

BEST ANIME FIGHT OF ALL TIME!
jezzaking29 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What an episode! Rengoku is such a tremendous inspiration. Insane goosebumps and adrenaline rushes in this ep. Also, when Rengoku is on the brink of death with his midsection pierced and fights beyond death until his very last breath saying, "mother, it was I who was blessed to have been born to such a person as you", instant tears. Such a powerful moment. Best anime fight of all time in my eyes. Animation and music are also impeccable.

Im so torn

On one hand..this was a really good season...loved it...But on the other hand..its so freaking short how can i praise something like this?

The first season of demon slayer was over a 3 year period and this 2nd season takes place in less than 1 single day.... Sure it was good but it does not add anything to the genre,,it does not move the story forward...

Its going to become the next Hero acadamia...its like dividing by 2...we will never reach 0..or the conclusion..we will just crawl infinitely between 0 and 1.

I had thought this show could be completely finished by season 2...but after watching it it will be a minimum of 700 episodes to complete this series...i knew i never should have watched season 2.

Cried like a baby... absolutely stunning.

Warning: Spoilers
The Mugen Train took us for quite a ride. The whole season was beautiful from the word go. The fight scene in the previous episode was absolutely incredible and it picks up here but it's the emotional and narrative legwork that this episode deals with alongside it's character moments that makes it an absolutely unforgettable episode of television. Kyojuro very quickly became my favourite character this season and it was heartbreaking to have to see him go, but oh boy... he went out like an absolute champ. Best episode of the show thus far and I'm extremely excited to dive head first into the entertainment district arc. 10/10 "Set your heart ablaze"

Knew I was going to ugly cry through this episod, after have seen the movie. And I sure did. The battle scenes are probably some of the best in anime history. Animations, colors and the music are breathtaking.

Crazy, awesome and heartfelt at the same time.
joyconboyz9 February 2022
Fights like these are my favorite, you're rooting so hard for someone and you have no idea what the outcome will be. It really brings the tension up and makes it so much more meaningful. The animation was simply gorgeous, the stylish colors and smooth movements add a lot to make this as awesome as it was. The music was also very memorable and the voice actors really took it up a notch to deliver such heartfelt dialogue at the end. Demon slayer has only been getting better so I'm excited to see where it goes next!

Perfect in every way
Tahahmed052 December 2022
This may be the best episode i've ever watched. It was perfect from the beginning and it had an incredible and heartbreaking ending.

The storytelling, dialouge and animation are out of this world. Rengoku is a fan favorite and seeing his entire character being built from the ground in the duration of seven episodes is unbelievable.

I recommend you watch the episodes instead of the movie, as it adds more depth to the characters. Especially the last episode which shows us how amazing demon slayer can be.

This episode is a 10/10 and deserves to be spoken of as one of the greatest episodes in television.

how it feels?

Warning: Spoilers
How if feels when you know your death is for sure but still you don't give up? This episode can show you how it feels. That scene which kyojuro was breathing and akaza was trying to turn him into a demon can explain everything.

Incredible

The greatest thing my eyes have ever witnessed.

From thinking rengoku won the fight to realising he was dead. Everything was just perfect. Even though he died I still felt so proud of Regoku when his mother showed up and was proud of him too. The scene where all three of them tanjiro, inosuke and zenitsu are crying brought a tear to my eyes well. It felt good seeing inosuke crying and letting out his emotions as he is known to bottle up his emotions and not let them out by crying for example but he couldn't help but let it out at that moment. The episode was a great ending to season 2 but also set up perfectly for season 3 which at the time I have not watched yet but I am so excited for. As this episode was simply a masterpiece.
