Happy anniversary to the Writers Guild of America strike! On May 2, 2023, Hollywood writers officially put their pencils down in an effort to bring compensation closer in line with the revenues generated by their movies and TV shows. A steadfast refusal by studios to engage with writers on some issues led the strike to be prolonged, and eventually, the Screen Actors Guild joined the work stoppage as well.
Fast forward to 2024, and many studios are still trying to get their production schedules back together. Fortunately, it looks to be smooth sailing for getting TV productions on track in 2024, and The Streamable has compiled its traditional list of new titles coming to TV and streaming every day this week to help you keep track of what’s coming back when.

This article contains X-Men ’97 spoilers through episode 9.
Get ready to blast that iconic theme tune one last time because X-Men ‘97 season 1 is coming to an end. After nine episodes of spandex and Sentinels, we’re on the cusp of an epic finale that will hopefully set the stage for an equally epic second season.
Pulling off another faithful retelling of the comics, the cliffhanger ending of penultimate episode “Tolerance Is Extinction, Pt. 2” left fans reeling. As we brace for episode 10, here are the eight best X-Men ‘97 theories taking us through to the finale.
Onslaught Will Be The Final Villain
If we follow the comics, the events of 1993’s “Fatal Attractions” should lead to X-Men ‘97’s endgame villain. “Tolerance Is Extinction, Pt. 2” beautifully adapted the source material, even including the iconic moment of Magneto pulling out Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton.
This happens shot-for-shot in “Fatal Attraction”, and in its aftermath,...

From all the X-Men movies, including the acclaimed "Logan," to animated series like "X-Men '97," Wolverine is one of the biggest fan-favorite Marvel superheroes. With razor-sharp indestructible claws and an accelerated healing factor, James "Logan" Howlett is a killing machine with a conscience, finding his place among the mutant superheroes, the X-Men. Wolverine comes from an especially dark past, however, while his berserker rage and susceptibility to mind control makes him a lethal liability at times. This has led to Wolverine committing several especially heinous acts, some deliberately, across the character's extensive history in comic books, television, and film.
Wolverine may be one of the greatest heroes of the Marvel Universe, but you can bet that his hands are dirty with all the questionable things he's done. Here are the worst things Wolverine has ever done, be it mistakes made in the comics, movies, or beyond, adding to the superhero's conflicted morality and background.

Beau DeMayo, the showrunner of X-Men ’97, may have been fired before the series premiered on Disney+, but that didn’t keep him from revealing some behind-the-scenes info. When it comes to the Merc with a Mouth, DeMayo gave a concrete answer as to why the popular mutant was absent from Season 1.

X-Men '97's season 1 finale, "Tolerance Is Extinction - Part 3," arrives Disney+ on Wednesday and former showrunner Beau DeMayo has shared one last "homework assignment" for fans.
As you can see below (via Toonado.com), he's suggested we track down the X-Men: The Animated Series episode "The Final Decision".
In that, Magneto kidnaps Senator Kelly to start a war between humans and mutants. Sentinels made out of plastic then attack, rescuing the politician and leaving the X-Men to rescue a badly injured Master of Magnetism.
Bolivar Trask and Master Mold also factor into the episode, with the X-Men and Magneto working to destroy the latter and get Kelly back from Trask (who planned to replace his mind with a robot). The incident changes Kelly's mind about mutants and the episode ends with Mister Sinister watching Scott Summers and Jean Grey getting engaged.
Could that be when the villain swapped Jean with his clone?...

Beau DeMayo’s X-Men ’97 is a treat for fans who grew up with X-Men: The Animated Series. When the children’s content turned into an adult animated show for Disney+, fans were in for an anxiety-inducing brilliantly written series. The creators also managed to cater to the Marvel fans and bring in a few cameos like Captain America and Spider-Man. But DeMayo revealed that one superhero was strictly off-limits for them to bring into the series.
X-Men ’97 featured cameos from several Marvel superheroes, but one character couldn’t be included in the series
X-Men ’97 could not feature a cameo from Deadpool, despite the X-Men character making appearances in the 90s animated series. It could probably be due to the upcoming multiversal film in the MCU featuring the character, Deadpool & Wolverine.

Like the song says, "Carry on, my wayward son. There'll be peace when you are done." Well, one out of two isn't bad because Jensen Ackles has definitely carried on, but he is far from done.
The long-time resident of the CW has had his handsome face shining on the small screen for almost thirty years in a little over twenty television main, recurring, and guest roles.
While Ackles could easily be considered one of the kings of Comic-Con, the demon hunter turned super soldier has graced the film industry a handful of times enough to make a few lasting impressions.
We've done the leg work for you and assembled some action-packed projects and titles the actor has starred in. While there will be some obvious choices, there might just be one or two that surprise even the most hardcore Jensen fans.

Spoilers for "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" follow.
Koba (Toby Kebbell) from "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" is the best blockbuster villain of the 2010s. One of Caesar's (Andy Serkis) sapient apes, first introduced in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," Koba was a lab animal in a previous life. The brutal treatment left him scarred (both skin-deep and deeper) and hateful towards humans. In "Dawn," finally in a position to strike back, he attempts to assassinate Caesar so he can lead his misanthropic war.
Koba is much like Magneto, perennial foe of the X-Men, and another figure who believes peace with humanity is impossible because of his past trauma. It's not a one-to-one comparison, though, because Magneto is more noble than Koba. Magneto has done evil, but his goal is the prosperity of mutantkind. For Koba, the violence is the point; he wants humans to suffer,...

The 56-year-old actor boasts a wide-expanding career, with his co-stars being some of Hollywood’s most well-established and popular faces. Furthermore, he has taken it upon himself for the task of documenting these experiences thanks to another of his lesser-known skills – writing.

Spoiler Warning for Episode 8 of X-Men ’97.
X-Men ‘97 is never short of exciting surprises for fans, and with the release of Episode 8 earlier this month, it seemed that one of the major scenes in the series crawled out of the screen and burst open into the world.
Magneto in X-Men ’97
In the said episode, Magneto released an epic blast across the Earth that wiped out all sources of power. This Friday, a report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa) claimed that a G5 geomagnetic storm has reached the Earth. Was this Magneto’s doing?
Geomagnetic Storm Hits Earth, Noaa Issues Warning For Severe Impact
The Noaa gave a warning to the public as soon as they detected a geomagnetic storm hitting the Earth. On a scale of G1 to G5, the latter is the strongest and most extreme. Radio transmissions and satellite navigations are expected to be affected.

They also asked if he’d be into crossing over with other MCU stuff, and his response was pretty cool.
I mean, there are obvious ones if you’re looking in terms of what Marvel has been doing recently. Magneto might have been an interesting addition to the Thanos...

The X-Men are waiting in the wings to make their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a project being in active development, and Mister Sinister being rumored to be the villain for the first phase for the mutants. However, Marvel will require some smaller-scale villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to build up to the big bad, and X-Men ’97 might have just given the MCU its first mutant villain.

We still don't know why exactly Marvel Studios parted ways with X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo shortly before the series launched (and no one seems willing to explain).
Unsurprisingly, the writer has today confirmed that he's in the dark about Marvel's season 2 plans and where the series goes from there. However, DeMayo also told fans on X - via Toonado.com - that he originally had a five-season plan which seemingly included taking us to the "Age of Apocalypse."
Marvel Studios might be looking to stick with that, though if "creative differences" came into play, there are any number of directions X-Men '97 could head in after this first batch of episodes.
Thank you. I’d like you to discover the answer to this on your own. But I will also say I had a five season plan.

“X-Men” is back in the cultural zeitgeist thanks to Marvel Animation’s hit animated series “X-Men ’97,” and while it’s a different beast, it is paving the way for some of the first significant mutants to join the MCU this summer in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” We already know that star/producer Ryan Reynolds offered filmmaker Shawn Levy the “Deadpool 3” gig during the filming of “The Adam Project” (they also worked together on “Free Guy”).

Marvel Studios is said to be very close to announcing a writer (or writers) for the long-awaited X-Men movie, and we may know which scribes have emerged as Kevin Feige and co.'s top picks to pen the reboot.
According to Jeff Sneider on the latest episode of The Hot Mic, Rafe Judkins and Michael Lesslie are in the mix to write the script. He believes these two are the finalists to land the gig, but notes that other writers may still be in contention.
Judkins previously worked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Tom Holland-led Uncharted movie, and more recently served as the showrunner for Amazon’s Wheel of Time adaptation. Lesslie, meanwhile, penned the screenplay for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and 2016's Assassin’s Creed movie.

X-Men ’97 could secure most of the original cast from X-Men: The Animated Series, who returned to the show with great enthusiasm to essay the roles that they took over two decades ago. However, given that some actors had passed away in the time between the two shows, a slew of parts, including that of Magneto, had to be recast for the sequel series.

Spoilers for "X-Men '97" follow.
The goriest moment of "X-Men '97" season 1 will assuredly go down as episode 5, "Remember It," which saw the mutant nation of Genosha wiped out just as it was in the dark "X-Men" comic arc "E is for Extinction."
Episode 9, "Tolerance is Extinction Part 2" just gave it a runner-up though. Magneto, who has returned to his old villain ways, is fighting the X-Men on his new base of Asteroid M. Wolverine, famous for his adamantium-coated claws and skeleton, stabs Magneto. Undeterred, Magneto uses his powers to tear out the adamantium from Wolverine's body.
This bit, like most of the episode, is taken from 1993 "X-Men" comic crossover event "Fatal Attractions." The episode ends with a shot recreating a panel from "X-Men" #25 (drawn by Andy Kubert) of liquified adamantium heeding Magneto's call and pouring out of Wolverine's battered body. Writer Peter David first suggested this as a joke,...

2012’s The Avengers is widely regarded as one of the best movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, perfect just the way it is. But little do fans know that the film wasn’t always supposed to unfold the way it did. In fact, this version only reached fans because of Robert Downey Jr., their favorite Oscar winner and former Tony Stark portrayer.
The Avengers (2012).
As it turns out, the original version that filmmaker Joss Whedon had planned for the movie wasn’t meant to include any of the supporting characters from the previous movies in this film at all, which included Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts as well. But then Downey Jr. stepped into the picture and went against Whedon’s decision, just to include his character’s love interest in it, too.

After an exciting, often shocking run of episodes, the season 1 finale of X-Men '97 hits Disney+ next Wednesday, and (former) showrunner Beau DeMayo has shared some "homework" for fans who might want a cryptic hint about what to expect from "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 3."

DeMayo posted an image from Star Trek: The Next Generation season 5, episode 18, "Cause and Effect." This episode of the beloved sci-fi series saw the crew of the Enterprise caught in a time-loop, with the ship being destroyed over and over again, and Picard, Riker, Data and co. having to figure out how to reset the anomaly.
Does this suggest that the X-Men will find themselves in a similar situation? "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2" certainly left the team in dire straits, with Jean Grey killed(?) by a Mr. Sinister-controlled Cable, and Wolverine's Adamantium...

But it also brought the franchise three Oscar wins and several nominations, including Best Picture, a first for a superhero movie.
That said, it would be no surprise if Marvel chooses Coogler to helm its X-Men reboot.

As wonderful as X-Men ’97 has been, even the most devoted Marvel Zombie has to admit that the gold standard of superhero animation remains Batman: The Animated Series. Given that these two characters become Horsemen of Apocalypse, a theory suggests it is quite possible it is something X-Men 97 is setting up.

X-Men ’97‘s Episode 9 saw Wolverine and Magneto play out one of their most brutal battles from the comics, which ended with Magneto ripping out the adamantium from Wolverine’s skeleton, leaving him on the brink of death. While this might be bringing a world of hurt to the character, the trajectory that is being set for the story might be great news for those who miss the X-Men’s resident Cajun.

This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97 episode 9.
Wolverine has always been a mystery, ever since he stalked the Hulk through the Canadian wilderness in his 1974 first appearance. Over the years, readers got occasional glimpses into his past, from his real name(s) to his shady black ops missions.
One of the most shocking reveals came in the aftermath to 1993’s X-Men #25, the climax of the crossover event Fatal Attractions, when an incensed Magneto ripped out Wolverine’s Adamantium skeleton.
X-Men ’97 has already run through some of the most important events in X-Men history, covering Inferno, Mutant Massacre, and E is for Extinction in the span of nine 22-minute episodes. But the series set up something much bigger when it pulled from Fatal Attractions in the penultimate episode of the first season, “Tolerance is Extinction Part Two.” By that episodes end, a desperate Magneto stops Wolverine the only way he knows how,...

Extreme adversities, heightened emotions, and a sense of betrayal often cloud the judgment of the best minds, and as seen in X-Men ’97, mutants are going through all these stages at once after facing Bastion’s crisis and especially after the surprising return of Charles Xavier. As a result, as the fantastic first season reaches its final lap, the team, which should have united against the overarching threat of Sentinel-born Bastion, finds itself more divided than ever.
Previously, Bastion’s past as a progeny of Nimrod and humans is revealed as Scott, Jean, and Cable go to his childhood home. There, they get a nasty surprise as his mother, along with a huge number of people, turn out to be augmented prime Sentinels created by Bastion and Sinister, hiding in the mass as sleeper cells. Un agent Valerie Cooper and a number of prominent supervillains are revealed to be in...
