Victoria Justice won’t forget her first day on the job.
The former Victorious star talked about shooting her first sex scene in the upcoming crime drama Depravity while visiting SiriusXM Hits 1 LA with Tony Fly and Symon. She was visiting the show to promote her new single, Raw.
“My first day on set though, I had my first ever sex scene, which was like, I’m like, ‘Really guys? We’re gonna schedule this for the first day? Cool. Thanks for that,’” Justice recalled.
Justice said the scene was not a pleasant experience. “It is uncomfortable,” she said. “I was really nervous. I was actually very, very nervous about it, and totally anxious about the entire situation and I was like, ‘Did I make the wrong choice? I don’t know if I should do this.’”
Justice said a talk with the director eased her worries.

Exclusive: Taylor John Smith (Where The Crawdads Sing) is attached to star in What’s Left of Us, based on the 2009 memoir by Ritchie Farrell who has adapted for screen.
The project marks the next directing effort of The Fighter and Patriot’s Day scribe Paul Tamasy who most recently made his directorial debut on Paramount acquisition Depravity, also starring Smith.
What’s Left of Us charts the tough upbringing of Farrell in a working class neighbourhood in Massachusetts. To overcome a birth defect, his father pushed him to become a star athlete – sometimes he would use a belt as a teaching tool. Once, he used an electric carving knife. By the time he was 30, he was a heroin addict, stealing from friends, shooting up during visits to his children and running from shameful family secrets.

I don’t think anyone is too terribly upset over NBC’s decision to cancel the crippled musical-drama Smash. The amount of times the show managed to be engaging and worth viewing was few and far between. I only managed to get through the first season and two of Season 2’s episodes before throwing in the towel. I’ve no idea from my own experience if the final season improved, but from what I’ve heard of how things went down, canceling the show was like euthanasia. So what will become of the stars of Smash, particularly Katharine McPhee, easily the show’s weakest player? I’ll tell you – she’s going to be used as a scapegoat in a different series.
Considering McPhee was hired based on her singing ability, I wasn’t shocked to see she reacted to most scenes like a deer caught in headlights. Now that...

At some point in 1997 was the last time I.ve seen Jim Gillespie.s dreadful horror ripoff I Know What You Did Last Summer, a film that has itself been ripped off in some way or another time and again. And while the upcoming thriller Depravity has enough talent behind it to save it from being anywhere similar to that brand of routine drivel, I was still reminded of it, and that.s half of the battle. Even more easy comparisons could be made about a pretty and popular leading lady, but I.ll leave the similarities alone. Deadline reports actress Katharine McPhee is attached to star in Depravity, which will be the directorial debut for Paul Tamasy, who was the screenwriter for such disparate movies as The Fighter and Air Bud. The script was written by best-selling author Dennis Lehane, whose novels Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River were...

Former “American Idol” beauty Katharine McPhee may have lost her TV show “Smash” to cancellation, but let’s face it, just like not winning “American Idol”, that’s just a speed bump on the way to stardom, because she’s already landed a major starring role in the thriller “Depravity”. Cancellation what? “Depravity” has a pretty nice pedigree, and comes from the pen of crime novelist/screenwriter Dennis Lehane (“Shutter Island”, “The Wire”, “Gone Baby Gone”, and “Mystic River”). It will e directed by Paul Tamasy, who wrote the Oscar winning “The Fighter” and, er, “Air Bud”. You know, about the dog that plays basketball? No, really. Fortunately there doesn’t appear to be a ballin’ doggie anywhere in “Depravity”, which will follow “a group of roommates accidentally kill an innocent man they thought was a thrill killer. It sends the group into a world unhinged from any moral compass,...

• Fresh off the news that Tom Cruise exited the long-gestating production of Man From U.N.C.L.E., it looks like Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) may take on the now-vacated starring role. The Guy Ritchie-directed Warner Bros. adaptation of the 1960s television show currently stars Armie Hammer (The Social Network) and Alicia Vikander (Anna Karenina). Besides his potentially career-changing turn in Man of Steel, Cavill is also attached to the still-delayed production of The Great Wall. [Variety]

Truth be told, I enjoyed NBC’s short-lived series Smash. Perhaps not the second season, save for a few great songs from Jennifer Hudson, but the first season touched on the unsung world of Broadway and off-Broadway theater.
Now that series Katharine McPhee is back on the casting blocks, she’s looking to shake the good girl, Sandra Bullock image and do something a little more dicey. In Smash, McPhee played the small town girl who tries to make it big through a theatre staging of Marilyn Monroe.
McPhee is attached to Paul Tamasy’s new thriller, Depravity, which was scribed by Dennis Lehane.
Depravity centers on “a group of roommates accidentally kill an innocent man they thought was a thrill killer.”
If you’re looking to make the jump from TV to Film, or remind Hollywood that you used to do features, thrillers are always a great way to go.
