Earlier this month, Arkansas’ Pulaski County turned down and returned a $60,000 check sent by Lucky 8, the production company behind the Netflix docuseries “Unlocked: A Jail Experiment.” Pulaski County is where “Unlocked” was filmed, and Lucky 8 apparently intended the check as reimbursement for any costs the county incurred during production.
But in a letter sent alongside the returned check, county judge Barry Hyde wrote, “Pulaski County has no contract with Lucky 8. As such, Pulaski County must treat this check as an offered donation. Your donation is refused.”
This is not the first legal dispute to emerge surrounding the project, which took place at the Pulaski County Detention Center in 2023. Per Little Rock’s ABC affiliate Katv, the county’s quorum court in March issued an emergency ordinance requiring Sheriff Eric Higgins, who spearheads the “social experiment” depicted in the docuseries, to produce a report about the production of “Unlocked” — including...

Unlocked is a South Korean film directed by Kim Tae-joon based on the novel by Akira Shiga. It stars Chun Woo-hee, Yim Si-wan and Kim Hee-won.
A South Korean movie about hackers, internet identities and many social networks and… murders.
An entertaining thriller that, although isn´t much technically, is more entertaining than fascinating.
Storyline
In a drunken night a girl loses her mobile phone. A boy takes advantage of this and takes over her identity. Meanwhile, a dead woman appears in the forest.

A classic thriller that uses common fears (with a real base) about the insecurity of having all one´s life tied up in a mobile phone. So far, this is basic and boring, but the unblocked identity also becomes a thriller about murders, which adds an extra touch of attraction.
The story is well planned and the relationship between the main two characters,...

Running traditional ads on streaming services like Disney+, Netflix and Amazon can be difficult. Some advertisers may choose a different route by creating some of the programming those broadband services use to get people to subscribe in the first place.
A new study from Interpublic Group’s Magna media-research unit and Amazon Ads found that consumers don’t seem overly concerned whether a TV show they watch is created by an advertiser or a more traditional production studio, so long as the content is entertaining. When asked why they chose to watch brand-funded entertainment, 59 of respondents said they found the show “fun to watch” while 45 “enjoyed the content” and 34 “‘earned something new.”
“It’s just like any other content,” says Kara Manatt, executive vice president of intelligence solutions at Magna, in an interview. “People watch it when it’s entertaining, and if it’s not entertaining, they won’t watch it.

Keys II, out Aug. 12, features both the “Originals” version and the Mike Will Made-It-produced “Unlocked” version of the album, which Rolling Stone called Keys’ “most ambitious” album to date, “going from torch ballads to dance tracks and spanning decades with ease.”
The new tracks include “Trillions” featuring Brett Faiyaz — Keys also appears on “Ghetto Gatsby” on Faiyaz’ new album — and “Stay” with Lucky Daye, who previously featured on Keys’ “Come for Me” alongside Khalid.

If you’ve been waiting to watch Christopher Nolan’s confounding sci-fi thriller “Tenet,” now is the time to finally get to it on your HBO Max watchlist. Nolan’s latest film is one of many movies leaving HBO Max in July, the full list of which you can read below.
Also leaving HBO and HBO Max this month is another Nolan classic, “Inception,” Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby,” as well as two rom-com favorites “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and “You’ve Got Mail.”
If you’re looking to prioritize some selections, “American Gigolo” was Richard Gere’s break-out role — and it would be a good time to watch ahead of the upcoming TV series starring Jon Bernthal.

The hunt for an elusive South American flower is at the heart of the latest addition to the Peacock streaming service, but the creators of the new show aren’t from the typical Hollywood studio.
“Unlocked,” a short film that debuts Friday on the NBCUniversal broadband outlet, is the creation of tech giant Hewlett-Packard and the agency Giant Spoon. The mini-movie tells the story of data scientists hoping to track down a rare plant that might just offer a cure to a mysterious neurological disease that ails the world, but it might solve some other problems as well, like how to get ad messages in front of consumers who are increasingly accustomed to avoid such things when they hunker down for a new bingeworthy session.
The mission in the film is critical, but so too is the one mentioned above. “Streaming continues to grow in terms of audience,” says Laura Correnti,...

For its list of new releases of February 2022, HBO Max is bringing back one of its biggest original series.
The Ridley Scott-directed sci-fi epic Raised by Wolves helped launch HBO Max back in 2020 and now it’s finally back for another season. Raised by Wolves season 2 premieres with three episodes on Feb. 3. This season will continue the conflict between future atheists and theists on a remote planet, while two androids raise some kids.
February 2022 also sees the end of another, more recent HBO Max hit. Peacemaker airs its finale on Feb. 17. Thankfully that same day sees the premiere of another exciting original. Dream Raider is a Mandarin-language sci-fi thriller that carries some big Inception vibes.
There aren’t many original movies of note this month, but there are a lot of recent hits coming to HBO Max as library titles. Nightmare Alley arrives on Feb. 1, followed by The Many Saints of Newark on Feb.

In the newly shared music video for their Alicia Keys collaboration “Come for Me (Unlocked),” Lucky Daye and Khalid make themselves at home. Directed by Keys herself, the video gives context to the trio’s close connection, setting them in both the professional environment of a recording space and the playful setting of a game night with a casually recorded approach.
“Come for Me (Unlocked)” appears on Keys, the singer’s eighth studio album and first-ever double record. The 26-track project is split into Original and Unlocked segments where the...

2021 has seen its share of albums in which major artists meet huge expectations with supersize tracklists — records like Drake’s 86-minute Certified Lover Boy and Kanye West’s punishingly enormous Donda. Now you can add Alicia Keys to the list of A-list epic-makers. Keys, her eighth album, is a 26-song double-lp. But Alicia has never been one for self-indulgence, so she’s neatly divvied the project up into two distinct, easily digestible collections: Originals is, as she puts it, a set of “laidback piano vibes,” while almost all of its...

OnlyFans, the subscription platform best known for its Nsfw content that's used by 130 million people every month, has created its first app -- given that its flagship platform is disallowed from the Apple and Google app stores.
Oftv, as the new app is called, won’t feature any nudity and won’t charge any subscription fees, Bloomberg reports.
The app currently houses a library of roughly 800 videos starring some of the biggest OnlyFans creators, including original series called Unlocked, which features conversations with the likes of Mia Khalifa, Bella Thorne, and Holly Madison. Oftv also features original content from fitness instructors, chefs, and podcasters. Even though the content isn't pornographic, Bloomberg notes that many of the videos on Oftv are sexually-charged and feature scantily-clad creators.

The movie will center on the life and times of the genre-spanning band, following the humble beginnings of brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb into their journey to pop superstardom. Following their first No. 1 hit “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart,” the Bee Gees went on to write and perform hundreds of popular songs and worked on the soundtrack for the 1977 film “Saturday Night Fever.”
Ben Elton is writing the script for the still-untitled biopic.

Many people would love the chance to climb into an Rv and drive around the English countryside with Colin Firth for weeks. For Stanley Tucci, it was indeed fun — but also challenging. The two actors play longtime lovers on a final road trip in “Supernova,” which arrives on demand Feb. 12. Tusker (Tucci) is entering the stages of dementia, leaving Sam (Firth) to struggle with his care as they travel to visit friends and family, likely for the last time.
Written and directed by Harry Macqueen, “Supernova” is an independent film shot in England when the weather was less than desirable. “I don’t mind the cold if it’s snowing, but it’s that English Winter,” Tucci said. “It’s the wettest. There is one town not far from where we were, which is the wettest place in England, if you can imagine such a thing.”

In “Supernova,” Stanley Tucci and Colin Firth play Tusker and Sam, an intellectual couple who are facing down the deteriorating oblivion of memory loss: Tusker, a novelist, has hit his 60s, and is suffering early-onset dementia, while Sam, a concert pianist, can’t do anything but watch his partner fade away. It was the actors’ 20-year-long friendship, coupled with the erudite direction of filmmaker Harry Macqueen, that made grappling with such difficult subject matter easy.
“We love each other. We’ve been friends for 20 years. We’ve experienced each other’s pain, and we’ve watched our kids grow up together,” Tucci said. “There’s a lot of water under that bridge, and that bridge has only become stronger still. It’s the kind of working experience that could make or break a friendship. But in our case, it strengthens it.”

Stanley Tucci has been a professional actor for nearly 40 years. He’s earned three Emmy Awards, been nominated for an Oscar and a Tony, held his own with Meryl Streep twice and stolen scenes in everything from tiny indies to giant blockbusters. And then, in his words, “I made a cocktail on the internet.”
It wasn’t meant to go viral; it wasn’t even intended for public consumption. It was about a month into lockdown, and Tucci’s wife, Felicity Blunt (sister of Tucci’s “The Devil Wears Prada” co-star Emily Blunt) suggested he make a video for her to share with her co-workers at the U.K. agency Curtis Brown. “It was just meant to be something in-house, to sort of cheer some people up,” Tucci says. So the actor called on the skills he developed bartending before he achieved fame and fortune, and mixed up the perfect Negroni.

The label of a character actor tends to be interpreted as general audiences calling someone “that guy” in a movie. Stanley Tucci seems slightly above that description, bringing memorable and popular performances to the mainstream. From the purple-haired host Caesar Flickerman to Nigel, the lovable confidant of Miranda Priestly that gets stabbed in the back, there’s really nothing he can’t do. As Tusker, a man living with Alzheimer’s in Harry Macqueen’s “Supernova,” the actor’s actor may have found his strongest awards vehicle yet.
With Bleecker Street submitting Tucci for best supporting actor for the Academy Awards, he will compete in a category that has been very friendly to the character actors and overdue veterans. Mark Rylance (“Bridge of Spies”), J.K. Simmons (“Whiplash”), Christopher Plummer (“Beginners”) and Alan Arkin (“Little Miss Sunshine”) are the most prominent examples from the last 20 years. Harry Macqueen’s Supernova, which makes its world premiere bow at the San Sebastián Film Festival next week, is a film founded in contrasts. A simple, intimate love story that follows a middle-aged gay couple, Sam and Tusker, on a road trip through England’s Lake District as they get to grips with Tusker’s diagnosis with young-onset dementia, its title nevertheless hints at the huge existential war the two are waging to preserve their love as illness threatens to tear them apart. Its two central performances from stars Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci eschew declarative moments of grandstanding dialogue in favor of quieter moments of painful reflection, and yet it still promises to ensconce both performers firmly into this year’s awards conversation for the power of its emotional gut punch.
