Ngaio Marsh's script for this edition was published in 1995 as part of her "Death on the Air and other stories" collection, from HarperCollinsPublishers (ISBN 0 00 224276 1).
This was the last hour-long, single episode, Saturday night edition of Crown Court, the show then reverted to its previous format. The passage of time between court days was signalled in unusual fashion via sped-up footage of a clock and the dates of a desk calendar being changed.
This episode was one of a group of episodes which were transmitted in a non-standard format. Instead of each story being transmitted as three 25-minute episodes at lunchtime on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the same week, this episode was transmitted as a single 75-minute episode at prime time on a Saturday. Affected episodes were Who Killed Cock Robin? (1975), Songbirds Out of Tune (1975), Inner City Blues (1975), Marathon (1975), The Natural Bond (1975) and Evil Liver (1975).
