Featuring: Samuel L. Jackson, Luke Wilson, Leslie Bibb, Peyton List, Tracie Thoms, Muse Watson
The opening scene of Meeting Evil promises something the rest of the film can’t quite deliver: a genuine sense of dread.
Protagonist John Felton (Luke Wilson) drives through a nearly vacant, dilapidated neighborhood that’s been gutted by the housing crisis. As the sun beats down on his face, he sees empty houses and people moving out. Eventually, we discover that John himself is a recently fired real estate agent; business has been terrible, and his own house is about to be foreclosed on.
Unsurprisingly, John’s lack of success is straining his marriage to Joanie (Leslie Bibb). When Joanie and their children’s attempts to cheer John up backfire and they get in a fight, she takes the kids out for a walk.

If even Samuel L. Jackson, the prince of cool himself as long as Miles Davis is out of town , can't evoke a sliver of menace or charisma from your movie's mysterious stranger, it might be time to go back to the drawing board. Meeting Evil is so awkward and bizarre in its scripting, acting, and direction that one would hope that it would all come together in something resembling Lynchian surreality, but instead runs like a car built from boat, plane, and water buffalo parts. It just doesn't work.
John (Luke Wilson) is one of those sad-sack types that, the instant you see them on screen, you know is going to either a) win the quirky girl of his dreams, or b) unleash spasms of hellfire on an unappreciative world, a la Straw Dogs. His world in real estate is one of pathetic stasis until interrupted by Richie (Jackson), a...

Moviefone's Pick of the Week "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" What's It About? This documentary looks at Jiro Ono, a sushi chef in his mid-80s, who is regarded as the best in the world. See It Because: Ono is a fascinating character, and the movie's approach to his food preparation is meditative and hypnotic (plus, the film will make you really hungry). Moviefone's Blu-ray Pick of the Week "The Last Days of Disco" (Criterion Collection) What's It About? Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny star as two Ivy League graduates looking for love in New York, during disco's last moment in the sun. See It Because: Criterion is also releasing "Metropolitan" on Blu-ray today, but we're picking "Disco" as the one to see. The early '80s setting gives the film an exciting flavor, so if dialogue-heavy indies aren't really your thing, you can still give this one a shot. New...

Meeting Evil Movie Review
Quick, if you like your Samuel L Jackson a little on the darker side, you better snag your chance to see him in Meeting Evil. With all the dollar signs attached to The Avengers, he might be too bankable to be cast as villains for awhile, and while Mr Jackson was tons of fun this summer playing Nick Fury, the man will always have a place in my heart playing the baddies. It’s not that the man doesn’t have range. Just look at his career. He can be anything from beat down father and family man (as in A Time To Kill) to nigh invulnerable bad ass (Snakes On A Plane and Shaft), but it’s when he gets to drip a little evil that I think he truly shines. Chris Fisher’s Meeting Evil is a prime example of that.

Sam Jackson is a mysterious stranger with a bad temper in Meeting Evil.
Familiar faces Samuel L. Jackson (Arena), Luke Wilson (Middle Men) and Leslie Bibb (A Good Old Fashioned Orgy) star in the psychological crime thriller Meeting Evil.
Jackson goes bad-ass as Richie, a mysterious stranger who shows up at John’s (Wilson) door asking for help with his car. All too soon, the mild-mannered John discovers he has become an unwilling passenger, trapped in a murderous ride through town and deep into the countryside. When Richie decides to pay a visit to John’s wife (Bibb) and kids, John has no choice but to turn up the testosterone and confront the sadistic and unpredictable killer.
A seemingly by-the-numbers genre entry that smells like it might include ingredients from Collateral and Straw Dogs, this R-rated production popped up in one U.

In the Decker vs. Decker showdown, box-office analysts seem to agree that "Battleship" will sink "What to Expect," though it's unlikely either will unseat reigning superheroes of the cinema, "The Avengers," who are eyeing their third first-place weekend. Nonetheless, having two films open on a single day is a neat distinction for the 25-year-old actress, though one that's not as rare as you might think. Here are a cluster of stars who...

Just a couple of weeks ago, Luke Wilson was Meeting Evil in the form of Samuel L Jackson. Now he's set to meet it again, having accepted The Invitation, a thriller to be directed by Karyn Kusama (Jennifer's Body).Wilson will be playing a character called Will, and the evil in question this time is Will's ex-wife. The horror! The pair have apparently been estranged for some time when Will accepts the titular invitation to a dinner party his ex is throwing. As the evening progresses, he comes to believe that "something insidious" has possessed his wife, and that her new friends have some kind of dastardly mischief in mind.Alien replacement a la Invasion Of The Body Snatchers? Satanic cult, along the lines of Rosemary's Baby? Murder club, like The Last Supper? That would be telling. We do know, however, that Zachary Quinto, Topher Grace and Johnny Galecki are co-starring.

"The Avengers" hits theaters in North America today and besides probably breaking box office records, it seems to be the rare summer blockbuster that is loved by pretty much everyone. Critics and fanboys alike have, for the most part, aligned in their praise for Joss Whedon's superhero team up. And while there have been a few dissenting voices, one of the most prominent is New York Times critic A.O. Scott -- and Samuel L. Jackson doesn't like it.
In his review, Scott says that he essentially didn't really get into the big set pieces and wishes there were more character moments, and ultimately, he wanted better motivation for why these superheroes do what they do. "...for all their maverick swagger, the Avengers are dutiful corporate citizens, serving a conveniently vague set of principles. Are they serving private interests, big government, their own vanity, or what?" he asked, while adding that in his opinion,...

The summer movie season has finally arrived, swooping in to save us from an extremely dull April, and I don't think there could be a better movie to kick things off. The Avengers is already a mega-hit overseas and there is probably a good chance that it will break some records in North America, but the bottom line is that no one in their right mind would release another studio movie on the same weekend. There are just a handful of indie releases in select theatres including The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel starring Judi Dench and Bill Nighy, A Little Bit of Heaven starring Kate Hudson and Gael García Bernal, and Lol starring Miley Cyrus. There are also a couple of genre flicks to choose with Darren Lynn Bousman's Mother's Day remake and Meeting Evil starring Luke Wilson and Samuel L. Jackson. So how many times will you be watching The Avengers this weekend?...

Luke Wilson knows he plays the boyfriend a lot. It's one of the reasons for taking on his newest acting role in the indie thriller "Meeting Evil." In the film, Wilson plays a depressed and cash-strapped family man whose simple act of kindness for a stranded stranger, proves to be a terrible mistake. That mysterious man happens to be a maniacal killer played by none other than ultimate movie bad-ass Samuel L. Jackson -- and he decides to repay Wilson's gratitude by dragging him along a grisly, gothic joyride that wracks up a seriously bloody bodycount. Moviefone spoke with Wilson about taking a break from the light, romantic roles by doing something incredibly dark with an actor who's scary in real-life. During the conversation, Wilson reflected on the devastating failure of his and brother Owen's first movie collaboration, why he considers "The Royal Tenenbaums" to be the work he's most...

Before he gets his eye patch on for The Avengers this summer, Samuel L. Jackson is taking Luke Wilson on a bizarre killing spree. From director Chris Fischer, Meeting Evil tells the story of a man facing foreclosure and joblessness who helps out a man who comes to his house looking for some help with his car. That helpful hand pulls him into dangerous territory with a man capable of ending lives. Shockingly, it’s Jackson who plays the Bamf waving a gun around. The Samaritan is one of two upcoming lower-budget crime-thrillers starring Samuel L. Jackson. We got our first trailer and poster for Meeting Evil earlier this month, which pits Jackson opposite Luke Wilson, and now we have the trailer and poster debut for Jackson’s latest offering, The Samaritan.
Directed and co-written by David Weaver, the film also stars Luke Kirby (the upcoming Take This Waltz) as Jackson’s son, Ruth Negga (Breakfast on Pluto), and the great Tom Wilkinson (RocknRolla).
“After twenty-five years in prison, Foley is finished with the grifter’s life. When he meets an elusive young woman named Iris, the possibility of a new start looks real. But his past is proving to be a stubborn companion: Ethan, the son of his former partner, has an ingenious plan and he wants Foley in. Samuel L. Jackson is a hard working man. He’s still got his fingers in plenty of A-list Hollywood productions, but between “The Avengers” and Quentin Tarantino movies, my man can still crank out a B-action movie or two. We’ve already posted one of his films, the not-exactly thrilling looking (or sounding, to be perfectly honest with you) “Meeting Evil” (with Luke Wilson, natch), and here’s another one, “The Samaritan”. In the film, Jackson plays an ex-con who just wants to go straight but they keep pulling him back in. Yeah, nothing original here, folks, which is probably why you haven’t heard of the film until now. After twenty-five years in prison, Foley is finished with the grifter’s life. When he meets an elusive young woman named Iris, the possibility of a new start looks real. But his past is proving to be a stubborn companion: Ethan,...

Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant of comedy series 'Reno 911' are set to co-direct new horror-based feature 'Hell Baby'. This will mark the duo's first time directing together in spite of working with each other previously on the hit TV show as well as scripts for 'Balls of Fury' and 'A Night in the Museum'. Funnyman Rob Corddry ('Hot Tub Time Machine') and the sexy Leslie Bibb have been tapped to star in the exorcism flick whereby a newly 'expectant couple' move into a haunted house which needs exorcising from a demonic baby. We have to assume the new Darko Entertainment and Principato-Young co-production is a comedy of some form especially with Lennon, Garant and Corddry all attached. Leslie Bibb (below) can be seen next in mystery thriller 'Meeting Evil' and again this August in Takashi Shimizu's mile-high horror '7500'....

It used to be that when an actor stopped landing roles in theatrical releases and crossed over into direct-to-video territory, it meant that their career was in serious trouble. In recent years, however, a new middle ground has emerged, thanks to the rise of video-on-demand. More and more often we're seeing actors take chances on low budget independent and/or genre films that are still somewhat respectable, and their reputation does not necessarily have to suffer. Luke Wilson seems to be getting quite comfortable with this middle ground, and his latest film Meeting Evil falls into that category as well. Wilson plays a surburban family man in search of something more in his life. When he meets a mysterious stranger (Samuel L. Jackson), he soon finds himself being pulled into a "surreal, nightmarish murder spree" against his will. The movie is directed by Chris Fisher, who previously did the Dtv...

Written and directed by Chris Fisher (S. Darko), Meeting Evil has a great cast in the leading roles, filled by Luke Wilson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Leslie Bibb. Based on Thomas Berger’s original 1992 novel, the film sees Wilson in the lead as a family man forced to go to great lengths to protect his family.
The first trailer and poster have now surfaced over at Apple, ahead of its VoD release in the Us at the end of month, which in turn comes ahead of its theatrical release on 4th May.

Samuel L. Jackson is a bad, bad man. Seriously, it says so right on his wallet. But while Jackson has played many a badass over the course of his long career, we think it's safe to say he's never played anyone quite as bad as the truly sinister creep from the brand new "Meeting Evil" trailer.
Just ask Luke Wilson.
Wilson, you see, plays a guy who is having a really rough time of things. You know, lost his job, marital woes, the whole shebang. Then he meets a new friend — or should we say "friend" — who offers to help Wilson out of his doldrums. What could possibly go wrong?
Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, here's the new trailer for "Meeting Evil," which is scheduled to hit theaters on May 4 after debuting on demand March 30. Don't say we didn't warn you:...

With well over 100 movies under his belt, Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most prolific actors working in Hollywood today. And, come May 4th, Jackson will add two more movies to his resume, with starring roles in both writer-director Joss Whedon's The Avengers and writer-director Chris Fisher's Meeting Evil. Jackson's role in The Avengers is pretty well established by this point, as he has already appeared as S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury in four Marvel Studios features — Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and First Avenger: Captain America — but his character in Meeting Evil is more of a mystery (except to those who have read the book by Thomas Berger on which the movie is based, of course).

And together, they are … “Meeting Evil”! Ahem. I’ve never heard of the movie before, and given the cast, that’s surprising. Then again, after seeing the first trailer, I sort of understand why. It doesn’t exactly look like groundbreaking stuff, does it? Sans the cast, this is probably a direct-to-dvd movie you might stumble across one late night on TV. Even with the cast, it’s still pretty much going straight to VOD, which should say something about it, I guess. But I absolutely refuse to believe that a movie starring Samuel L. Jackson as a killer can possibly be that bad. Right? When John Fleton, a depressed suburban family man and recently fired realtor, offers to help a stranger, Richie, with his car, John is sucked into a surreal, nightmarish murder spree that forces him to question everything about his life, his mode of behavior, and the very nature of evil…...

Given the choice between good-guy Samuel L. Jackson and bad-guy Samuel L. Jackson, I think I prefer the former. But he sure does play a great villain when he wants to. From what we.re shown in the trailer for Meeting Evil, it looks like Jackson.s playing a man whose path you.d be better off avoiding. And Luke Wilson.s character may be learning that lesson the hard way. Based on a novel by Thomas Berger, Meeting Evil stars Luke Wilson as John, a depressed, recently fired realtor who offers to help a man (Samuel L. Jackson) with his car and ends up caught up in a horrible murder spree which .forces him to question everything about his life, his mode of behavior, and the very nature of evil.... The biggest triumph that director J.J. Abrams’ ("Star Trek," "Cloverfield") achieves with "Super 8" isn’t the special effects or the secretive plot; it's the fine group of child actors he's assembled. Not since "The Goonies" has an ensemble of misfits been so entertaining.
In "Super 8," six Midwestern kids witness a mysterious train crash in 1979 while making a zombie film, and strange things start happening. Cue the screams of voice-cracking adolescents. They laugh, they cry, they blow stuff up, they sing "My Sharona." Fun fact: The actors actually wrote and directed the film-within-a-film themselves, so don’t forget to stay for the credits.
